Located just 15 minutes north of the city and named after Greyhound Racing SA’s former CEO Shane McQueen, McQueens Tavern & Gaming has a great reputation for its quality food at affordable prices and outstanding service.

History

Established in 1994.

Additional investment occurred in May 1990 to upgrade the upper level facilities which included the establishment of a first class restaurant, bistro and lounge bar. All these facilities overlook the racetrack.

In 1994, with the support of the Government, a portion of the Harold Tyler Reserve (Greyhound Park) at Angle Park was purchased to provide GRSA with its own freehold property facility.

This restaurant was meh.
We came here to use our entertainment voucher and I wasn’t that impressed.
We were ignored when we walked in and had to go up and ask to be seated and she just waved and said anywhere is fine ignored the fact that I had boo and I then had to ask another server for a high chair. They just dumped it by the table and I had to remove a chair for it to go there and they didn’t take the chair away so it blocked a walkway the whole time making me feel guilty.
We ordered a field mushroom burger and veggie risotto. There was a salad bar which was fairly average but definitely edible.
Sadly the wait also let this place down as we waited almost an hour for our burger and risotto (which even cooked fresh does not take nearly that long).
In the end we had to rush through our food because we were now late and didn’t get to enjoy it.
Food was passable — chips soggy but the burger was good.

It was a nice visit. Probably a place for work friends and quick bites. The staff were really friendly.
I had the chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto as some kind of chicken mignon style dish. The tomato pesto concoction wasn’t so nice as it was very sweet and tangy, I’m not sure that’s the thing. The chicken breast was slightly dry. I feel that if the breast meat was slightly more moist the dish would have been spot on.
Would consider coming again.
