I have found heaven in beautiful Albany. Oh Gourmendise & Co you are a treasure. Old French country vibe with beautiful pastries, cheeses and savoury tarts making this bakery a must-visit! All types of sweet and savory pastries ranging from lemon tarts to crossiants to little treats called escargot(you have to pop in to try for yourself) Coffee is fantastic and is the perfect accompanist to whatever you may choose from this gorgeous bakery. My dirty chai definitely hit the spot! Breakfast options are limited to baked eggs, ham & cheese crossiants and their French toast special(don’t forget there is also an array of sweet treats and pastries to choose from. go on I dare you!) There was no way I could resist their French Toast with stone fruits and raspberry coulis … this was appealing to all the senses and was such a beautiful(if not, naughty) way to start the day! I could not fault this dish at all — simply Devine.

‘when are we going?’ has been my saying that has turned into a family joke as I have said it so frequently from childhood. Within 24 hours of being in albany I was saying ‘When are we going to Gormandise?’ as this was such a priority to me in my limited time visiting in Albany. Walking through the door you are transported to the south of France. The waft of fresh buttery croissants is almost overwhelming as you take in the beauty of the overcrowded but beautifully decorated room. The French accents asking you ‘what you would like?’ finish off the transporting spell taking you to France. The store is both a café and a small deli where you are able to pick up the essentials of a picnic including pâté and cheeses. The café has a limited menu but I am yet to feel restricted by this as each and every item sounds too delicious to refuse. A range of freshly baked pastries and breads cover a counter and wall while delicate cakes and desserts fill a fridge. The savory treats including quiche and sandwiches are just as delish. There is a small range of cold drinks as well as coffee and tea. Come and explore this café/deli and fill your belly with French treats!
