Does what you want it to do; fills a hole. Never had an issue here, so no problems coming back and having another Yiros. Not the greatest Yiros I’ve had in the world, that was in Greece but it’s ok. It’s late night grub for when you didn’t eat before you went out and are starving on the way home. Simple.

Tried the Chicken yiro /gyro(still coping with the way Adelaideans spell it), for $ 10 — same price as neighboring locales, but much lower quality. I can see the appeal by late-night people wearing party pants looking for a pit-stop. Alas, I was sober and perhaps had a different experience The tomatoes — all 3 ultra thin slices — were green and not tasty as in «fried green tomatoes» tasty. Lettuce was the other garnish, and a pile of chicken(hope it was chicken). The garlic sauce was good and it had hints of tahini. Venue is well lit, and clean, a little effort could make the gyros much more competitive.

30/12/2011 Adelaide’s noctural clubgoers should appreciate their immediate alert service in the early unhealthy hours of a Friday morning(3am), the countless photographs on their wall and their simple menu that makes ordering easy when you’re drunk, I have to admit — there is nothing like finding somewhere to eat, and that’s open on a Thursday night, after a long night out of heavy drinking and dancing in the city. Your partner’s hungry? Thirsty? This place is a good choice… before I knew it my clubbing partner was digging into her yiros. The Original Yiros House has several groups of customers walking in and out: friendly atmosphere, food is okay, but their service outdoes their food. The guy who served us was so friendly and talkative, we could have chatted all night if it wasn’t for our hunger reminding us to stop talking and sit ourselves down. But really, who can complain about spending little money for a yiros, hot chips with extra chicken salt(they put on too much salt though), and a drink to end your night before catching the taxi home?

Although I can’t say I have ever eaten here sober, I have generally enjoyed myself on the occassions I have hit the Yiros House up for a late night feed. My weapon of choice is the combination yiros(both chicken and lamb) with tabouli and garlic sauce, when you are in that sort of state there really is no point in holding back. I have found it not uncommon to run in to old friends or accauintances here whom I have not seen for years, usually at about the ten or eleven O’clock mark. Generally in a state that could only be described as «worse for wear.» In this sense the Yiros house is quite a social place, despite its apparent rowdy appearance.

Yiros House has built itself a good reputation in the East End, and it’s one of the better yiros joints in Adelaide. The first thing you’ll notice when you enter the shop is just how many people do enjoy the food here. The eastern wall is plastered with photographs of patrons enjoying their meals, and it never hurts to show your prospective customers that you have a solid following. The lamb yiros is always a good choice, but these guys make a great chicken yiros too. I recommend trying the chicken yiros with the lot topped off with garlic sauce and hot chilli sauce(not sweet chilli sauce). This, in my opinion, is an unbeatable combination that’s sure to blow your socks off. These guys are open until the early hours of morning and are perfect for a late-night meal or pre-emptive hangover cure. Why, it’s the Australian tradition to finish your night off with a yiros! It unfortunately follows that if you happen to be ordering food here and you’re sober, you’ll be having some close encounters with the drunkards that regularly frequent the shop. My suggestion is that if you’re not drunk, get your yiros to go. On the other hand, if you are drunk, then join the ranks and enjoy the boozy, garlicky company of your peers!

This place is great if you’re having a night on the town, are in the middle of club hopping, and just want to grab a bite to eat. With its late trading hours, well-located store, and takeaway services, The Yiros House is super convenient. One night during rather thorough visits to each and every bar/pub/lounge on Rundle St and around it, I stumbled across this place and instantly thought it looked like somewhere movies based in The Bronx, NY would film. The interior is somewhat grungy, but suits how one would feel after five(or ten) vodka sodas. Photos of staff, past customers, and famous people who have frequented the place are stuck on every wall in a cluttered collage. I had a standard lamb yiros. Good flavour and all the fillings — lettuce, tomato, onion, garlic/tzatziki sauce. Inside and outside seating is available, service is good, food is better, try The Yiros House if you haven’t already!
