So I ventured out on a Wednesday night to hit up a bar I have a lot of love for i.e. Rocket Bar. I wasn’t going there for a raging Sailor Jerry-fueled night out though, no, not at all. I was checking out the ‘Rooftop Cinema’ they have every Wednesday night! Can I get a ‘Hell-yeah!’ On this occasion they were playing the excellent film ‘Drive’, or as I like to tell my friends«that film where Ryan Gosling goes ape-shit and kicks in that dudes face». It’s full-on! It also has a wonderful soundtrack and some excellent car chase scenes. Did I mention it also has Ryan Gosling in it *swoons* … The rooftop bar is gorgeous. There’s a big ol’ palm in the middle of it, an assortment of cacti and other plants and plenty of space to get comfy with your amore. The screen is ample, and even though the bar is cranking all night, the sound is still excellent, even when Ryan Gosling says very little throughout the entire film, it is still very important to hear his glorious mumbling when he does! The ‘Alpha box and dice’ sangria was great, but the highlight for me was the burritos, nachos and taco all provided by La Cantina! You can shove Mexican delights in you face whilst you soak up scene after scene of Ryan Gosling looking increasingly brooding(and sexy!) *air punch*. I hear they also have rooftop markets and a ‘Punk’ themed night of music and drunken debauchery, I mean shenanigans, on every second Wednesday night. They also show films that night too, for the low price of just $ 5(Wednesday rooftop cinema without the markets and punk night are free! That’s right free!) So if you’re after something cheap-as to do on a Wednesday night, check out Rocket’s rooftop cinema. If you can handle a whole heap of hipster wankers, you should definitely head down there before it becomes so hip that they won’t let you in unless you can name 5 obscure bands that nobody has ever heard of except you. I give it 5 out of 5 brooding Ryan Goslings!
