Providore

We wrre tempted by their impressive cake display when it came time for morning tea. The fig apple and ginger cake was superb and gluten free! The white chocolate and macadamia pavalova was probably great, but unfortunately what we recieved was a coffe and almond version. It was still nice, but since I don’t like coffee, I wasn’t that thrilled.
Would still eat there again, just with a little more attention to detail!

This stall in the Adelaide Central markets isn’t signed… but it is pretty hard to miss not one, but two chocolate fountains!
Providore has all manner of sweet treats freshly made and just rustic enough to have a home made charm. You can get your hands on the biggest choc and cornflake crackles you’ve ever seen here for just $ 2.50.
I usually pop buy and buy one of their super decadent cupcakes when work mates celebrate their birthdays. Chuck a candle in it and for just $ 4.50 you have the most decadent individual birthday cake ever!

Any shop that has a chocolate fountain out the front is a immediate winner with me. It’s a fountain. Of chocolate. ‘Nuff said.
I’m a regular at the Central Markets and it’s almost physically impossible for me to pass Providore on any visit without being enticed over and buying something.
Who can blame me: they have a truly spectacular array of gourmet chocolate goodies, melt-​in-​your-​mouth truffles, handmade cookies, fruity gateaux and all the usual cakes, cream puffs, muffins, cannoli, macarons and… wow, drooling already. That’s not to mention the chocolate fondue fountains– you can buy strawberries, marshmallows or waffles and then dip them into the fountains of either milk or dark chocolate. Yum. I think I had a dream like that one time.
This place is a sweet-lover’s dream come true. Fresh and handmade, their offerings are both completely indulgent and completely delicious. This has to be my favourite place for cakes and chocolate goodies in Adelaide. In fact, why aren’t I there right now?
