What is Park(ing) Day you may ask? Well, I think that is what the whole of Adelaide asks me when I mention it! That definitely pushes me to write this review. Park(ing) Day actually started in San Fransisco in 2005 when an arts collective Rebar came up with the idea that paying a parking meter is a bit like ‘renting’ a public space, so instead of parking a car, why not park something better? So they started creating«parks» in «carparks» with lounges, scultures and astro turf! The idea took off and spread around the world! This event occurs on the third Friday in September each year. Teams of designers, creative people and anyone who is passionate about their city can temporarily transform a carpark into something fun for the community to enjoy for free! So, for the last 5 years Park(ing) Day popped up in Adelaide randomly and many passerby loved it! But, didn’t quite understand it and why it was happening. Over the last couple of years it has grown and has attracted some very talented people! You will find crafty set ups, sculptures, games, dancing groups, activities, freebies, furniture, and more! This is a real pop up event, so you will find some real fun and creative ideas in the carparks. My favourite this year would have had to have been TAFESA group«Air Your Dirty Laundry» where they invited people of Adelaide to write their dirty secrets of Adelaide. So many funny and shocking confessions! I also love anything that is interactive and has a game! Be sure to like their facebook to see what is in store for 2016!

Great initiative! Parsec have put on cool music and a pop up clothes stall to reclaim their parking spaces. Worth checking it out today.
