Stick this one in the «places to take my homeboys» list.
Things that I require when shopping for American gear:
–Products I’ve never seen before: CHECK.
Old Midwest got cowboy boots, college shirts, and I «went absolutely crazy» with the jackets.
–Authentically American: CHECK.
I’m always careful of the fake products, but these clothes are actually worth the money… ahh…so cool. I would travel across the world for these clothes, no doubt.
–Cute friendly chick at the cash register: CHECK.
And might I also add that when I introduced myself to her, she mentioned my cap reminded her of her last trip to the US. The topics we talked about changed quickly and evolved from clothes to travel to music to the authors she liked to read, the longer I stayed in that store.
Overall, everything inside here is all fantastic, Old Midwest American Vintage earns its stars based on the staff, high quality and authenticity of their products. Their high price that I can’t afford is definitely made up in staff and quality!

Old Midwest American Vintage has taken the vintage styles of its Midwest counterpart on the opposite side of the street to the next level, stocking only new «vintage» items.
The store’s interior décor is reminiscent of a Wild Western cabin, and its wooden finishes give the shop a lot of character. Like the shops appearance, the clothing matches the olden styles of the West, with cowboy shirts, denim jeans and boots all echoing retroactive eras. You can even find stuff like bowling shirts endorsed by Charlie Sheen (to his apparent dismay). There’s a lot of cool stuff in here, including retro books and ornaments.
Wearing an ensemble comprised entirely of items bought from this store might look a bit daft, but mixing and matching with modern styles will give your outfit some edge.

I come in this store a lot, mostly for the smell. Creepy? Maybe, but it smells like pine trees and you feel like you’re in an old cowboy’s wooden cabin. I have to stop myself putting a twang in my voice when I’m in here.
Old Midwest is directly opposite Midwest Trader down Ebenezer Place. Hint, go to Rundle Street, find Union Street, go down and through the brick archway is Ebenezer Place.
I think they mainly stock men’s clothes, although I’m sure some of the many cowboy boots in there would be for girls as well. There is vintage everything; flannies, basketball tops, shirts, belts, boots, and everything else a cowboy would need. My boyfriend loves his flannies and his eyes lit up like a child at Christmas when he laid his eyes on the bad boys in here.
Great place to take the boys, friendly service, and my goodness does is smell good.

The thing to remember with Old Midwest is that you can’t exchange or get a refund in here, I couldn’t get a clear explanation why, but I think it’s to do with everything being from the United States of America, and the cost being relative to Unites States currency???
Not sure how that works or if it’s even legal on these shores.
This vintage style clothing store is truly great though. I love it. You have all the classic vintage mid western styles — so think 1950s Cowboys and Indians styles, Roy Rodgers, Lone Ranger, lovely shirts and jeans and leather goods mainly, with some classic coats and jackets from the 1940’s onwards.
The atmosphere in the shop is pretty different because there are a few deer heads hanging on the walls — not something you see all that much of outside ow Twin Peaks really…
Who doesn’t love all these great classic jeans, shirts, caps and t’s as well as nice American Indian rugs or blankets?
There are heaps of belts and boots and substances to polish said leather items… possibly all a touch pricey, but hey, it’s from the USA so it’s well made and stylish.
