THEBURGERANDBEERFORTENDOLLARS. I mean, yes, the chicken burger is just a chicken schnitzel cut in half, with the rest of the burger resembling something you’d create at home, but, well, what is the problem? TENDOLLARS. WITHANYBEER. The first level lounge is pleasant. Meals on Wednesday are all ten dollars. What’s not to love?

Harry’s Bar is a classic pub with a drink and burger special for $ 10 on Tuesday and cheap drinks; wine, beer etc. on other days. It’s a great place to catch up and hang out with mates. The burgers are avenge as a pub meal normally is and service is good at times. During lunch time it may be busy enough that the owner actually forgets to place your order though to the kitchen, a sad waste of 20 minutes. But other then that Harry’s Bar has– * Good deals on food and drinks * Cool oyster eating competitions * Friendly workers * Balcony, perfect for summer Always a quick and cheap decision maker, catch ya soon Harry’s!

Friendly oyster bar at the busy end of Grenfell Street, not far around the corner from King William Street. Harry’s occupies what was formerly the Adelaide Tattersalls Club. Tatts was a relic of the past, a ladies & gentlemen’s club for the racing fraternity. As other reviewers have said, to see the upstairs club/restaurant is worth a visit in itself. While looking a bit tired now, the splendour of a bygone era is everywhere from the long oak bar, wood panelled walls and giant french doors onto the balcony overlooking Grenfell Street. Even the white tiled and porcelain lined loos echo from a different era. That said, Harry’s provides either a good spot for either quick drop in and a dozen oysters, or perhaps a more relaxed venue for a leisurely luncheon with Pimms. Worth a visit.

The first floor room is from a different time. I love that this hasn’t been touched for decades and there is enough dark oak in the bar to build a small house. Many Adelaidians wouldn’t know that this place existed. It is a good place to sit and have a quiet beer and shoot the breeze with friends. Good price beers and a balcony to enjoy in the summer time.

We went here with a challenge to spend $ 200 of lost-bet money. 10 people and 2 hours later, we hadn’t met that challenge. This place is cheap! The upstairs area hasn’t been touched since the 70s by the looks of it, which is kind of cool. Downstairs has been newly renovated, making it now acceptable for after-work drinks. They do a small selection of cocktails, as well as coffee and food. Oysters are their specialty.
