History

Established in 2010.

Gluttony began as a food and wine weekend during the 2010 Adelaide Fringe. In 2011 it took on its current form as a pop-​up venue in the Adelaide parklands that hosts shows for the duration of the Fringe season.

It’s that time of the year again in Adelaide. Fringe Festival is here.
Glutony is one of the many venues for the Adelaide Fringe Festival. There is food, drink and plenty of entertainement

We got to go into see the naked magicians which was an awesome show but this is reviewing the venue.
I was disappointed at the lack of food (compared to the garden next door) and the lack of vegetarian options (again compared to next door)
I ended up having to have cheesy fries which don’t exactly fit into my diet.
The atmosphere and hipster vibe was awesome and I love the people walking around trying to get you to go to their shows — mostly lovely people.
There were lots of sit down areas and three bars. Sadly the bar where we were sitting down didn’t even sell water!
I loved all the cutouts to put your face in!
All in all a lovely night but after the show next time I think I’ll pop over to the garden to all the pop up vans for tea!

The Gluttony venue is a great venue during Fringe, especially if you’re taking kids out to see appropriate shows.
It’s pig-​themed which is cool and the tents give off a circus/​carnival type vibe which is very different to the Garden just opposite.
It doesn’t quite have the atmosphere of the Garden which is a little wilder but it’s still worth visiting if even just to compare.
Having Humphrey there is a lovely drawcard, especially with the Unilocal deal available.

Loved the Gluttony venue for Fringe. It’s next to the over-​crowded Garden of Unearthly delights, but there were no long lines to get in like some of the bigger venues. And it’s right next to the Fringe Club (Artist Bar) too. I had a good success rate with enjoying the shows I saw there and the door staff were friendly.
The tent performance spaces suited the vaudeville, cabaret, comedy, and burlesque shows I saw.
Good to consider your clothing options when seeing a show there as it’s an outdoor/​tent space. And there was an issue with the Bally tent being seriously over air conditioned one night.
There is food and alcohol available (though the beer selection isn’t the best.)
I hope to see Gluttony and it’s performers getting some good fringe love. (Just not too much, so I don’t have to battle the crowds!)

It was a Unilocalie kind of night at Gluttony, in fact, it was Elite! I manage to find myself at Gluttony most years and always enjoy the slightly less hectic vibe compared to the Garden of Unearthly Delights. There’s rad shows, delicious food and a nice feeling of comfort and relaxation (maybe the hippies help with that side of things?!).
I was surprised to hear about the anti-​factory farming theme seemingly running through most of the festival and certainly evident in everything I stumbled upon.
I defo recommend this place as a Garden alternative with the same quirky «Fringe» feel without some of the… you know… Fringe types.

Due to it’s previous success The Gluttony Festival is going to be even bigger this year, with over eighty acts across six stages. Gluttony shows are very freakish and treatish, with circus acts, puppets, cabaret, comedy, theatre, and more nudity than you’re probably used to. Have you ever seen a nude circus? I didn’t sleep the night after that show I was so shocked.
The Gluttony festival is a good scene for kids because of the relaxed vibe, and they have special kids days 25th and 26th February and heaps of kid friendly circus and magic shows (best not to choose a nude one). The Amazing Drumming Monkeys will be starring, and although I myself find them mildly threatening, they’re popular with the families at Fringe. I will be on board for the tumble circus and I’m super keen to hang out in Rymill park and eat delicious food. If you’re not pumped for that too you’re weird. Get excited!

Ticketed as the newest addition to the Fringe Festival, I stumbled across Gluttony last year only thanks to a friend in the know — and spent a chilled out afternoon that stretched into night eating burritos, hanging out, drinking beers under the lantern-​strewn trees.
Gluttony made its debut last year and it was definitely up my alley. Taking over the teensy park space at the corner of East Terrace and Grenfell Street, it may be easy to overlook but it’s definitely worth looking into. Fenced off and larger than you might think, the leafy mini-​park is decked out with retro, plastic chairs, Formica tables, beanbags, a couple of bars and performance spaces. Oh and who could forget the food! A small but perfectly-​formed selection of SA food and wine, including the aforementioned burritos which were out. of. this. world. Chipotle good times.
More intimate and chilled than its big sis The Garden of Unearthly delights, Gluttony also houses local DJs and comedy performances (neither of which I saw but will be keen to next year).
Entry is free (though shows are ticketed, natch) — pencil it in for 2012!
