Specialties
The Adelaide Visitor Information Centre is located in the heart of Adelaide’s shopping precinct, in James Place just off Rundle Mall, and offers assistance to local, interstate and overseas visitors. The centre is staffed by knowledgeable, enthusiastic volunteers who can assist you with directions, brochures, maps, event guides and journey planning that will help you make the most of your time in Adelaide and South Australia. Also available from the centre is a free 30 — 45 minute orientation walk called First Steps in Adelaide. This orientation walk takes you around Rundle Mall and the nearby precinct to introduce new visitors to the city and highlight major attractions, public transport and current events. The walk departs every weekday (excluding public holidays) at 9.30am, bookings are not required.
Free short term wheelchair and pusher hire is available.
The centre is open every day except Good Friday and Christmas Day and is open 11am to 3pm on public holidays.
History
Established in 2002.
Formerly the Citizens Advice Bureau and then the Rundle Mall Visitor Information Centre. The name changed in 2010 to the Adelaide Visitor Information Centre to more accurately reflect the scope of the service as an accredited capital city visitor information centre.
