Dungeon of Doom Haunted House

Went here for the first time this year.
Good things:
–the artistry, wow. you could tell they put a lot of time in the production
–price. actually not that bad for something that they bill as a premier experience.
–makeup. makeup for the actors was fantastic.
Bad things:
–not that scary. screaming in my ear is not scary, and that’s what a lot of their actors do.
–actors hitting us multiple times during time in house. I get that they’re trying to pop out and scare you or jump down and scare you, however when I get hit multiple times during a visit, this is unacceptable.
–clown by second tunnel blowing smoke right in my face. not only not necessary but disgusting. had a gas mask of sorts, with vape coming out and he came right up and blew it in my face. why? just why?
Honestly, I did not feel that this was worth the time or money that I spent on it. Definitely not Lake County’s best haunted house, let alone among the best in the state.

This place has to be one of the best hauted houses out there and I’ve been to a few this year. The only draw back is the drive and the directions there. I got lost twice trying to get there. Other than that… great place for a good scare.

It was boring. The actors where lame and vulgar. In the hospital part one of the actors said he was a gynecologist and told the women in the group that he would split them in 2 and they would come in a girl and leave a woman. Very disrespectful. A lot of sexual innuendos from a lot of the actors. It was more offensive then scary. Definitely not worth the money unless your a sexual deviant.

If your a lover of terrorizing Haunts… Dungeon of Doom will exceed your haunting expectations…
I won’t get into details about what you will find or experience here… you will have to live to tell.
But I will tell you that I’ve been coming here every year… Why? Because its an AMAZING HAUNT… one of the best around, and yes… it is worth your $ 25 or $ 50 VIP Tix…
It is also one of the longest Haunts I’ve been to… expect your visit to last about an hour…
(that is… if you make it out… muhahaha…).
The Production, Cast, Set, Special effects… all ultra impressive and naturalistic. you begin to ask yourself is this for real?.. Your senses are heightened… Your fears become reality… Your nightmares have only just begun… in this dungeon, where PANIC sets in… your heart begins to race… Ohhh…the horror…
I love the *high* of a GREAT Haunt… I let it soak in and surrender to the thrill… and if you are anything like me, come hither here…
New attractions this year: Underworld & Killer Room.
Some rooms and passageways you will meet — Hospital asylum, Underground Sewer, Slaughterhouse, Carnage Room, Carni-​Maze, Boiler Room, Crazy Clowns…(yes, you Clown haters, they are looking forward to seeing YOU… and scaring the HELL out of you).

Buried Alive room… no other haunt has this… its one of a kind…
And this year, they’ve intensified the panic… so if you thought last year freaked you out,
your in for a spooky surprise… If you have an aversion to crowded or small spaces, they do not recommend you enter… go to website for more info… All I will say is… I kept thinking, ‘when will this be over?’…The experience was surreal…
I was here on a weekend and usually come during the week because its less crazy…
I don’t have the patience for lines anymore, so I always get the VIP tix and I feel its worth it…
I’ve saved at least 2 or more hours waiting., and yes, they are batshit crazy on weekends… so if you don’t mind coughing up the xtra $ 20, for what I consider to be a «once a year helluva good time»…DO IT… much quicker… expect to be approached by Creepsters while you wait listening to some jams…
The «Creatures» are super interactive… they are everywhere… there is no shortage of them and they are true to character, almost life-like…in addition to the massive, elaborate sets. This SCREAMS horror… they pulled no stops designing each set with careful attention to detail — it is all so inviting in a frightful kind of way… they went above and beyond to provide a thriller adventure… tunnels made me dizzy, one Zombie had me wait against a wall, yeah, he knew I was an easy target. what gave it away, I wonder? Hmm… I screamed Bloody Mary the whole time… was startled at every twist & turn… and by the end of the night… lost my voice… Good times… good times…
My top 3 Haunts: Dungeon of Doom, Statesville Prison, Reapers Realm… this year, Dungeon of Doom killed them all… come here, you won’t regret it… it’s the longest Haunt, and worth your money…

Wow… just wow, a tiny bit of eh no, but definitely a lot of wow.
I just went to this haunted house tonight. For a Wednesday night at around 8:30pm there’s a decent line but not too long of a wait. The haunted house is about 45 – 60 minutes long which is GREAT! Lilke hell yes, thank you for giving me what I paid for.
Now when it comes to the overall inside of the haunted house, there’s all different types of curves, dips, wall heights, narrow spaces, twists, turns, and actors and animatronics to scare the living hell out of you. The 1^st portion of the haunted house is definitely the better part. Don’t you change a freaking thing in there! Seriously you guys got that shit down.
By the time I got out of the first portion I was convinced this would be my first 5 star review, buuuut some awkward racial and stereotypical remarks in the 3D portion of the 2^nd half of the haunted house by 1 actor bumped this review down to a 4 star. However the buried alive experience took my mind off that. I’ve never been truly panicked like that for that long at a haunted house. Yes I know it was a simulation but wow guys, that was intensely AWESOME!
Overall this place is great. Just get some of your actors in line a little more and make sure they know how to scare, not offend, and you’ve got yourself a 5 star haunt.

So I felt pretty cool, receiving a message from someone asking me to come check out Dungeon of Doom for free so long as I came to a soft opening night. I wanted to take them up on it, but I wasn’t sure what Unilocal’s rules are about that kinda thing, so I sucked it up and bought tickets like errrrrybody else and went with my husband and another couple a few weeks ago. It was early enough in the season that the lines weren’t terrible but there was still a decent crowd. The waiting was great, with super engaged actors screwing with everyone in line. When we finally got inside, it started off incredibly, and our group of four went in alone and never saw another group again. Also, the house is extraordinarily LONG — we were in it for over an hour. Well worth the money for the time spent inside it. The only thing I would change is that the house is actually so confusing and dark that we kept getting lost — and not in the way they intended. We’d hit emergency exits, walls, and employee rooms CONSTANTLY. People had to break character several times to get us where we needed to be. I’m not sure how to fix that, but with a bit more direction, this place would be perfect.

Dungeon of Doom 2015 was an improvement from last year. The line was long as hell! 3.5 hour wait on Oct. 24. Get there earlier or go on a Friday or Sunday if you don’t want to wait as long.
Anyways, I’ll go over a few things that stood out:
–The 3D part is back (w/​glasses). The walk through is pretty cool and there are actors with 3D paint.
–The walk through is a LOT darker. It’s a simple, yet effective tactic to scare people. You don’t really know what’s coming up.
–A bunch of hidden actors. There are a ton more actors hiding and jumping out of places. They can easily hide in the darkness or take advantage of the scenery. This really does add to the scare factor.
–The vibe was more «slasher/​thriller.» In the past, there was more of a story that you could follow soak in (maybe because it was shorter and stayed in one place longer), but this year there were more rooms with contrasting themes that set it apart from other rooms. For example, there was the butcher room with actors coming after you and then another one at the very end that had bagged up bodies in a medical room that reminded me of Dexter (that should have been in the middle).
–It’s very lengthy. They claim it’s an hour walk through and it sure feels like it. I think the main reason is because there’s a lot of «filler» walkways between rooms that kind of break up the scenery, but it’s nicely done because that’s when it’s the darkest!
–The walk through is a lot more constrictive. There’s a lot of tight spaces. It feels more like a maze, which is cool. You have to push your way through a lot of things and squeeze through narrow passages. If you’re claustrophobic, his probably isn’t a good place to go.
–The «statue actors» are pretty cool. I usually don’t see this, but they really fool you into thinking they are a prop and jump out at you. The actual robotic props aren’t bad either and the chucky doll running around was kick-​ass!
As you can see, they really stepped it up this year. For the most part, the actors weren’t nasty and didn’t touch as much. Although, I didn’t appreciate one of the actors spitting at me because I definitely felt something spray at my face when he got close.
There’s room for improvement, but overall it’s pretty good. As a suggestion, I recommend that they trap you in a room longer with no where to go and kind of play out a mini-​scene with actors (or have something pop out at the end at the climax). After that, it would release you to move on.
I definitely recommend this year’s haunted house. It’s scarier than before and dark as shit. A bit long, but I think it’s worth the $ 30.

It’s a good experience and the actors really make an effort to get to you! The buried alive event is pretty cool and the length of the house is great, but be prepared to wait in line. I would recommend a smaller group because you may get through quicker; we waited 3 and ½ hours in line! Arrived at 845 and exited the haunted house at 1am…

This place is by far the best I have ever seen! I go to haunted houses every year and this place is the #1 from all of them! We had the please to have had the owner himself take care of us! He was amazing and thoughtful! ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GREAT HAUNTED HOUSE WORTH THE MONEY AND TIME! COME HERE! Totally worth it! It was amazing!!! They have great staff and great props as well as original ideas! Amazing experience and will let EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT THIS PLACE!

I’m a huge haunted house fan. Generally they don’t scare me and they’re a lot of the same tricks, but I’m happy to say that this one actually had some new tricks to offer me. Furthermore, the wait line was indoor (which is a huge plus given the cooler weather). The line was long and the music was a bit too loud (gave me a sore throat from trying to talk over it). The haunt itself though really was a full hour. I actually got startled twice (which is a record for me). I don’t want to give away what happens, but you definitely get your money’s worth.
Word to the wise: stop at the McDonald’s to use the restroom before going. Once you’re in line, there’s no potty breaks and the wait can get long…

First time here. I really enjoyed how graphic and gory it was. The spinning tunnel and the small chucky like doll. Great costumes and the workers did a great job! Only thing is I wasn’t scared.

I use to go to this place every year sometimes twice a year and it was my number one place! Unfortunately this past two years this haunted house is not the same I think It got bigger and I see how much work they put in to this place but It wasn’t enough actors. I wish and I hope for this place to go back where they use to be and get as much actors as they use to have :(sad but I give 5 stars to the old dungeon of doom new dungeon is only 3 actors amazing just get more of them make it scary! I got more scared outside of the House waiting in line then in the ectual Haunted house! Sad very sad :(

First off… It Sucked trying to find this place the address is wrong on here. Once you get super close to your destination though there are signs but they stop. I believe go past the train tracks on Sheridan and you’ll see blocked areas and you’ll know you’re close.
Anyway to the review. I loved this haunt it had awesome props and the actors were great. I wouldn’t personally bring kids here cause it’s a little… Vulgar. We had a couple actors point at us and making rape gestures at us. I thought that was a little weird… Not scary… Actors were on point other than that. Loved the costumes, smells, feel. But what I really hated was the constant strobe lights. I’m very sensitive to all that and it causes me to have anxiety attacks so literally through an area I had to just close my eyes one whole part which sucked cause I really wanted to see. I believe I pretty much skipped the clown section cause my eyes were closed and I was gonna puke from the lights. The loud banging sucks at times. I think there was one point where my ear drums almost blew out. Lesse. .wasnt scared at all. IDK maybe it’s cause I love horror and I’ve played better video games. Lol IDK maybe if they would put it in a video game perspective it would make it pretty scary. I do know they hyped it up a little too much on their online video cause that creeped me out. Plus I thought zombies were gonna run after us when I watched the video… Nope.
…oh and the buried alive thing if youre curious. It’s a room where they make u sit down and it completely covers you from head to toe in ball pit balls. I didn’t do it cause I didn’t know that until my friends told me… If I had known that I probably would’ve done it. I thought they were literally gonna put u in a box or something. Sigh. Too hyped.

Dungeon of Doom delivers in my mind the best scares in the Chicagoland area. We arrived on the 3^rd and had maybe a wait of about 10minutes. Something which is quite rare, if you don’t want to have a long wait i definitely advise arriving as it opens.
DOD is one of the few haunted houses I have been to where you feel like they actually care about scaring you and providing the best experience and not just trying to make as much money as possible. It lasts at least 60 minutes and within that there is never a dull moment or a scream left unscreamed. I actually came out with half a voice after it.
The circus maze is horrific, the cast are hilarious and interactive, the production value is on point, there is blood splatter, hidden creatures, spinning rooms, electric shocks and every single sense is assaulted. Assaulted in the best was possible. The only part i would add caution for anyone new to DOD would be Buried Dead or alive where you are put in a small room and buried. If you have an level of claustrophobia i would highly recommend skipping this. But it isn’t very long so if you can survive it worth riding it out.

I arrived on the (un)official launch night of 9÷25÷15 with Caty D in tow, eagerly hoping to get the pants scared off us. After driving 80 minutes to get to Zion from Oak Park, my expectations were high to begin with; Dungeon of Doom met some and exceeded others. It was well worth the lengthy commute.
Being located in ze middle of nowheres made it difficult to find, but signs eventually pointed us in the right direction. It’s very remote, which adds to the intrigue/​creepiness surrounding the haunt. A hearse outside let us know we were in the right spot, although the parking lot was a very rough, hole-​y gravely disaster, where I was afraid of blowing out a tire. Be forewarned.
Their indoor queue area had some animated props and characters roaming about. They also had splatter gore movies playing on a TV, as well as heavy metal music over their speaker system. We waited far longer than I’d hoped, but there was sufficient entertainment for us victims-​I mean guests.
The intro scene involves a rotating wire mesh cage and does a terrific job of separating groups as they enter the haunt. I LOVED this part, which I found to be executed better than at most other places. The scenes were of great build quality and the actors did a commendable job. Only a few missed their marks, and being stuck at the back of the small group meant that some scares triggered before I got to see them. Patron flow inside the haunt was less than stellar; we caught up to several other groups and several others caught up to us.
Most walk-​thrus are 15 – 20 minutes long, while a few of the bigger budget haunts creep up into the 20 – 30 minute range. Dungeon of Doom lasts for 60 minutes. Again, that’s AN ENTIRE FLIPPIN’ HOUR, which is more than twice as long as I’ve spent inside other haunts. When it comes to getting the most scare for your dollar, DoD is a titan of the industry.
Which brings me to DoD’s signature attraction… Buried (Dead or) Alive.
Buried Dead or Alive is unlike anything you’ve *ever* experienced. Without giving away too much detail, it’s precisely what it sounds like and lasts just long enough to send you into panic mode. In past years they had you sit on the floor, but this time around you’re instructed to lay down in a supine position (facing up) while the room «fills in» on top of you. This is NOT for claustrophobics or the faint of heart, and it IS intense, I promise you that [Caty D chickened out]. But it’s over relatively quickly and delivers exactly the rush you’d hope for. Certainly worth an additional wait and/​or upcharge.
After being ‘buried’, you proceed through another quarter hour’s worth of haunt that simulates emerging from a crypt, and you exit thru a terrific final scene – P.S, if it feels like the room is tilting, that’s because it is! For the amount of $/​min, you won’t find better haunt value than here at Dungeon of Doom. I wish the cast & crew all the best and a very prosperous haunt season. Definitely worth a stop if you’re near the area.

Oh my goodness — longest haunted house I’ve ever been to! Intense and every girl I saw was sweating up a storm. So ladies — wear your hair up! Trust me.
We waited in line about 45 minutes to get in which was rough. The time seemed to really drag but they had loud metal music playing and characters all over scaring the bajeebus out of you, so that helped keep us occupied while waiting. The character development at Dungeon of Doom is much better than other haunted houses I’ve been to. Instead of just random zombies, clowns and killers, most characters have some background story to them, more personality and names.
When it was finally time to go into the haunted house, they took us in groups of 4. It starts with some spinning and scaring, and keeps going… and going… and going. We were in the Dungeon of Doom experience for over an hour! About half way through I was wondering, when will this end?! My body was shaking the entire time, adrenaline was pumping at full speed and I was on edge never knowing when someone (or some thing) was going to attack! I don’t want to spoil things for others but just be prepared for an hour straight of walking and being terrified with a lot of the usual haunted house areas — 3D section, carnival section, butcher area, trailer trash section, spinning tunnels, balloon air tunnels you have to smoosh through, mazes, and much more.
One very unique, very intense difference with the Dungeon of Doom is a portion that makes you feel as if you’ve been buried alive. Did not expect that at all and it was insane!
I highly recommend the Dungeon of Doom, well worth the price of admission, and drive out to bufu! The only suggestion I have is to make finding the place a bit easier. It’s out in the middle of the woods in the middle of nowhere and I think they need slightly better signs leading to the haunted house. We drove passed where we should have turned, as did another haunted house go-​er we crossed paths with and had to try different streets until we finally got on the right one! Parking lot is gravel so beware of messing up your tires.
Once the Dungeon of Doom is finally done you can buy some swag like cool shirts and of course an amazing memorabilia photo! Eeeeeeek!

Thus was my first haunted house and I don’t think anything could ever top this. From the start the actors keep you involved and on your toes. Every turn inside the dungeon brings something more creepy than the last. My favorites were the attic, the medical ward with the crazy nurses and the kill room. I’m going back next week for round #2.

Lots of fun. Not too scary though. I was hoping for more. Then again, I’m more desensitized to this kind of stuff that your average joe. Plus I’m 24. It’s a GREAT place to bring kids they will absolutely love it.
I challenge Dungeon of Doom to make it even more scary/​disturbing!!!
I recommend going 100%. It’s an October must.

I am a huge haunted house fan and each year I select one that I think will do a great job in scaring us. This year, after reading lots of reviews, I opted for Dungeon of Doom.
Now, when it’s dark outside and you’re trying to find this place and all you see is pure pitch black, I already know it’s going to be great! I know, they moved locations recently but the new location is just perfect to get you anxious for the impending fear.
We went right at darkness for the whole experience and the line wasn’t to long. There were plenty of entertaining people as you stood in line. The price is perfect for what you get.
The whole fear experience is just right as long as you don’t get too crowded and see people in front of you as you’ll see what pops out ahead of time. But, the decorations here are top notch and the heavy metal background music is perfect for a frightening experience.
I can see why the crowd was gigantic on the way out.

The confined space room was different than any other experience I’ve had in haunted houses. If you are claustrophobic, then you will truly be put in a horrid position! The balls coming down on your head and sitting there wondering how long you can’t move is truly interesting!

Just left DoD and gotta say it lives up to the hype this year. We didn’t go last year, but this year they changed the location; though it’s not too far from the meat packing plant from previous years.
Going w the VIP package was worth it, though we skipped the Buried Alive part, since we didn’t like it last time.. Most of the tour was really entertaining and the actors were on top. The only thing that got us, and not in a good way, was the 4 times we got misted.. yeah, could’ve done without that… friend almost lost her contact. Not going to ruin the rest of the haunt, just go and see it. .
Now, off to the next «scare»…
