Established in 1950.

The Pine Cone is an oasis of quiet, cool summer breezes in Zephyr Cove on the south east side of Lake Tahoe, less than a mile from the beach, and just 2 – 3 miles to the casinos and Heavenly Ski Gondola in South Lake Tahoe and Stateline.

Five charming two-​story chalets set on the mountainside nestled amongst towering 70-​plus-​foot Sierra Pines and quaking Aspen. Children play in the heated outdoor 40-​foot pool. A family of guests are grilling near our manicured lawn at one of two gas BBQ and picnic areas. And you, you’re relaxing in the outdoor hot tub while your partner is poolside surfing the internet via our high speed Wi-​Fi. That’s just part of the quintessential Classic Tahoe experience that generations of families have been returning to at the Pine Cone Resort since 1955.

When I am in the mountains among the pine trees, I like to stay in places that are a little more rustic and have all the amenities in my room that allow me to stay in after a long day of playing in the snow. It had everything I wanted — a small kitchen, cozy sitting area, fireplace, a big screen tv. The beds were also comfy and everything was clean. Also nestled in the mountain in a neighborhood that was fun to walk around in. Also only about 10 drive from shops and restaurants and casinos, when I wanted to be in the center of the action.

Had a wonderful time at the Pine Cone! I am a PCT thru hiker and when I found myself injured near Tahoe Robert and the staff at PCR saved the day. My dog and I were able to stay for about a week with our feet up while my ankle healed. It was such a treat after being on the trail for so many months to have all the comforts of home. Can’t recommend this place enough. I’m not sure I could have been able to finish my hike to Canada if it hadn’t been for them!

Recently driving by, I was reminded of a stay here several years ago with an Ex. Wayyy before vrbo or airbnb.
Big condo, lots of steps, wierd smell, kinda dumpy. We broke up.

Been coming here for several years now, it is very reasonably priced, is minutes from the lake and safeway shopping center, and has all the amenities you will ever want. Robert, the owner, is very friendly and accommodating, and will help you with anything you need. The resort is being updated, and they are keeping their prices low even though they are charging well below market value. if your looking for a convenient, inexpensive getaway, that is like a home away from home, than this is the place for you!

South Lake Tahoe, CA
I was drawn to this place because it appears quaint and had a real wood
burning fireplace, pool, hot tub, onsite laundry, etc. After signing a 4 month
lease, the pool temp was not as advertised, the washers malfunctioned and
as far as I know are still awaiting a part. The outdoor firepit never had propane,
the noise from highway 50 is bad, and so was the bed. They charge a
$ 150.00 non refundable cleaning fee for a 475 sq foot unit. I had to request
the carpet and couch be cleaned, due to odor. My final straw was the mice
infestation. 5 mice were killed in my unit within a 24 hour period. I was in
an upstairs unit! I could not vacate fast enough. I cancelled my lease and
am still having nightmares over the sound of mouse traps closing. The management was aware of this and did nothing. .
Safety and well being of their tenants was not of primary concern.

I am surprised at the multiple 5 star reviews of this place. It has a great location and is spacious, but for the price there are a number of problems with it, especially the beds which were probably the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in.
The Good:
–spacious and lots of bed space
–pool and hot tub
–dog friendly
The Bad:
–unbelievably uncomfortable beds
–thin walls
–grounds were cluttered with junk
–poor parking options
–window blinds did not close
In summary, this place should not cost what it does. If you need a ton of beds and need to be near Zephyr cove, this is a good place. If you want a good night sleep, go elsewhere.

My girlfriend and I lived here in the summer of 2013. it is a nice place and very affordable. Great location right across the street from beautiful Lake Tahoe. The have a very kind staff and maintain the grounds daily. Pet friendly some units even have small kennels attached with doggy doors overall this is a nice place ran by kind and caring people with a hard working crew. if you are looking to move to Tahoe or just need a new place to live this could be the perfect spot for you.

Just got back from the Pine Cone Resort… been going there since 1975! This place is awesome if you enjoy the charm of Old Lake Tahoe and love the outdoors – no casino cigarette smoke, gambling noise, and overpriced restaurants! This resort offers good clean family fun – it’s like camping without the tent! I know the hotels are offering discount rates that I have never seen before because they are giving the rooms away. But they will make money on you as their «guest» at their overpriced restaurants, spas, their gambling traps, and their overpriced gift shops and contriived shopping/​eating and entertainment venues. At the Pine Cone, you can make your own wholesome breakfast in your own kitchenette, barbecue lunch or your dinner and spend quality time with yourself and your family or friends and enjoy the natural peace and tranquility this resort offers. It’s a great place for family vacations, reunions or corporate retreats, and if you miss the casino action, they are less than 3 miles away!

We loved this resort! It’s pet friendly, but the rooms are very clean. Even though it’s right next to the freeway, there wasn’t any noise. The pool is clean, and there is a beautiful mural there as well. And the best part was that it was so close to Zephyr Cove! There was a part of the beach which was dog friendly, so my dog can run in the water and be off leash. Overall, we loved the hotel. It was reasonably priced, the rooms were clean (even though a little outdated), and my family had an amazing time.

This is a nice, quiet and rustic get away and is a one-​of-​a-​kind. The owners are friendly and very nice and do care about their customers. Of course this is a trip back to the 40’s! That is the idea! This is no place for you that cannot handle a real resort from a time long ago. This IS a step back in time to the 40’s and is done very well! The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable and spotless. We loved the fireplace and the wood paneling straight from 1940. The combo sink and stove was right out of an old Airstream trailer from an era gone by. This IS nostalgia and rocks! We love this place and will be back!

Let’s start out with the good:
* Very reasonable pricing, especially considering that we were there on 4th of July weekend.
* Had a complete kitchen with utensils and dining ware as well.
*The staff is very friendly here
Now, let’s move onto the bad:
* These condos are fairly old; we could hear every step the people above us took.
* There was a huge hole in our bathroom ceiling where it appeared that some water damage was being fixed.
* There was a huge spider next to the huge hole in the bathroom ceiling
* There were little spiders all over the place; I killed two in the bed that we slept in
I can’t be one of those people to confuse «rustic» with «old and run down». This property is just plain old. To be perfectly honest, I would have rather camped in a tent than stay here — and I hate camping.
