Okay, since this is the only review for Stage, let me say that they have good sales and the clothes are lower end, but okay and that they carry Calvin Klein, my current favorite brand for jeans. The store is tidy, the dressing rooms are large and it’s easy to get in and out of the store. Now, there is one problem that I’ve observed at this and other Stage Department stores: The price marked on items is not always the price charged for an item. I went to Stage on Sunday because I needed a new pair of black pants for work and a couple of new work blouses. The sales were good on their clearance items so I managed to find 4 acceptable blouses for very little money along with a pair of nice black pants. The prices marked on the clothes, however, seem to be a mere suggestion. One top rang up $ 15 less than what was on the tag, one shirt $ 2 more and my pants rang up for $ 5 more. The sales clerk was spectacularly unimpressed and tried to convince me that it was due to «sales». Uhm no, the sale prices vs. the regular prices are clearly marked on the receipt. The clerk refused to admit that their prices were different from the tag, even though we were both staring at the same tags! I was fine with it as I got my favorite top out of the bunch for $ 15 less than what was on the tag, but still, it seems.. .oh, what’s the word I’m looking for.. .illegal. That’s the word! Illegal to put one price on an item and sell it for another inflated price. In future, I’ll have all my clothes scanned for pricing before I enter the dressing room so I can figure out how much an item of clothing will cost me instead of having it be a total suprise at the register! Will I continue to shop at Stage? Yes. They have good prices and decent clothes, and they’re the only department store in Zachary. In fact, if this were the first time this had happened to me I’d give them 3 stars. If this hadn’t happened, I’d give them 4.
