History

Established in 1969.

On October 29th, 1969 Accurate Automotive Attention first opened its doors. It started with a small metal building on the corner of 15th St. and 3rd Ave., rented by the founder Dennis McCloud and accompanied by one mechanics helper. In 1970 Dennis purchased the building and the three lots behind it.

… In 1971 Dennis added a 6,000 square foot addition and stuccoed the metal building. With his dedication to quality and service his business continued to grow.

… As the business continued to grow with the community, Dennis added another 5,300 square feet to the business in 1974 expanding to the limits of his property. Using the same principles of quality and service, Accurate Automotive Attention continued to grow and prosper. In 1984 we expanded to a small facility in the unincorporated area east of Yuma known as The Foothills area to service the growing population in that area. This facility is located at 12 543 S. Frontage Road.

Business Owner

Russell was born in Fort Huachuca, Arizona and his family moved to Yuma when he was one year old. He graduated from Kofa High School and went to work in the family business, Accurate Automotive Attention, an automotive repair company started by his father Dennis in 1969.

In 2001 he was accepted to Project CENTRL, a rural leadership program, and is a graduate of class XVI. As a result of Project CENTRL, he started a fund raising committee for Amberly’s Place (a victim’s advocacy and crisis counseling center) in 2002. In 2003 he was invited to join the board of Amberly’s Place where he has served as board President the last three years.

In 2004, he ran for his first public office and was elected to the Yuma County Board of Supervisors. He was re-​elected in November 2008 and again in November of 2012 and is currently serving his third term.

In October 2014, he received the Heart of Yuma award as Yuma’s Outstanding Public Leader.

After breaking down about 40 miles east of yuma and getting towed into town, by accurate Towing, who is a GOD SEND! We had a dog we were taking from phoenix to san diego for surgery. To begin with, we were told by AAA that they couldn’t guarantee that the tow driver would even allow the dog in their cab, much less a pit bull. The driver was super nice, helpful and even carried dog treats in his truck. We were soo greatful he got us to the Yuma Airport before they closed to get a rental car, as we were due in san diego at 7 am for the dogs surgery. We left our car with accurate automotive. They were super helpful, and friendly. The staff called to review what had happened, and kept us up to date. They didn’t try to do more work than the car needed and got us put together timely and for a very reasonable price. They even asked about the dog when we picked up the car 2 days later. Definitely recommend! Huge Thumbs up!

My husband and I were early on in our drive from Tucson to San Diego when our check engine light came on. We were afraid that our 2005 Saab wasn’t going to make it all the way and that we might have to get a tow from the desert. We immediately looked for a reliable auto shop in Yuma (on the way) that might be able to squeeze us in and found Accurate Automotive in a search online. The manager George was efficient, accomodating on last minute notice, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The whole thing took just a few minutes and it turned out to be a minor issue, but that gave us the peace of mind to keep driving. Last but not least, George charged us nothing for the quick consultation which was extremely generous. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of a trustworthy auto place in the area!

I’ve used Accurate Automotive Attention in the past and came back to them this year because they take great care in their service and I trust their work. The people that helped me are George and then Mitch, both of them are very knowledgable and up front with the work. I was made aware of some issues on my Honda and they were able to help me schedule it and then do it. One of the most important things to me is having trust in those that are working on my vehicle. I trust this shop with my small automotive needs, (such as oil changes) as well as the larger issues as well. Take one look at the shop and you will see for yourself that this is a professional outfit that delivers quality work. I will bring my car back here in the future.

I was driving through and having problems with my car on a holiday weekend. They ran it on their computer. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Even though they were unable to get me in as the holiday was the next day, they did everything they could to help me.

I’m so disappointed. I brought my car for oil change. They made me pay almost $ 150 and didn’t even touch my car (European). Didn’t change the oil or oil filter. They reassured that they did it. I made my friend do the oil change and it was so dirty and old. Filter was old, black and dirty. I wouldn’t never bring my car there and I’ll make sure the military community will know about this. The only good thing is they’re friendly. Will be blacklisted on base.

(My review is actually for the Accurate Automotive Attention on Frontage Rd. That being said, the Frontage Rd. site and the 3rd Ave site are the same company, so I thought I should post this here as well as on the Frontage link.)
Do not, I repeat, Do not take your car to this shop! I was on a cross country trip with my family when my AC went out. I needed a new Compressor, a new Accumulator, and a new Orifice Tube. This is not a cheap repair, but it is not the crazy expensive repair that they claimed it was! They gave me a $ 2000 quote and told me I needed parts that aren’t even part of my AC system! I guess they thought I was a clueless tourist, so they tried to take advantage. Not only did they want $ 2000, they couldn’t even get the parts for two more days!
The final straw was when they suggested that it would be safer to remove my AC belt for my drive home. This was the correct thing to do, but they said it would take 45 minutes to do it at an additional charge of $ 75!!! I drove the car 20 minutes from their shop, back to my hotel, and removed my belt in just over 10 minutes. Drive and repair took me 31 minutes combined!!!
I drove back home and got the job done for an even $ 1000 and didn’t have to wait for parts. I got three quotes in So. Cal and all of them were far below the $ 2000 quote that I had received from Accurate Auto Attention.
Please stay away from these thieves. I felt like Chevy Chase in the movie Vacation working with these guys.

On a trip to San Diego from Tucson, a disc brake caliper failed, an we need a tow and repair on a Friday afternoon of Mothers Day weekend.
From towing, to service manager, to tech we had a great experience They got us back on the road that same afternoon!

IF I could give this garage a negative star I would! This is not the place to take your car to for any reason, they are indeed overpriced for both labor and parts. Do your self justice and take it to a place that will not rip you off I did and couldn’t be happier.

OVERPRICED & INEXPERIENCED– Go somewhere else.
Had a simple problem… dead battery but, they made it sound like a major ordeal. I was charged almost $ 200 and, when they were finished the car (Nissan) didn’t run properly so, they wanted to charge another $ 100 to «re-​boot/​re-​load» the car’s computer system. Said the dead battery wiped out all the settings. When I loudly objected they called a young man over who determined it was a simple dead fuse.
Save your time & money and go to a shop that is more experienced and professional.
