I love this store! They support the community and the employees are super nice. Prices are very reasonable. Even though I don’t live close by, I will make it a point to be a patron. Thanks for all you do!

Wonderful people and services. I get my bunny’s nails trimmed here. Only thing that they could change is the prices, little pricey.

They are nice and have great bunny deals. They love their animals. All their animals look and act healthy.

First I’ll explain why I love this place aside from some employees having bad days like all of us (I guarantee you that every customer service employee has a life and their life isn’t perfect, and no one can leave their life at home 100% of the time). My dog has been getting groomed here for 5 years. He loves the groomer, and if I tell the groomer to cut his hair a certain way, she does. If she doesn’t, it is for a reason. Our dog had knots and she had to shave him once. If she told us it was because a witch cast a spell on our dog, so be it. I trust her 100! She takes her time and cares for each animal. She truly loves animals. Even her helper is very caring! I love the help everyone here offers, and all of the wonderful advice. Their prices are about average for a private pet store. If they think someone else sells something that will better suit your animal, they do not try to push their inventory on you. If I picked up my dog, and the grooming room was empty, I would know that he was not alone for long, and I would be happy the groomer finally got to go home early for once. She works 7 days a week most weeks, maybe a couple days off a month. I would NEVER expect her to stay and babysit my dog. This place is the best all-​in-​one pet store around!

Higher prices than most pet stores

So I pay my grooming fees and go to pick up my terrified shitszu, only to find him in his cage alone! I couldn’t believe they left and went home. I was there at 3:45 as agreed. I don’t believe this. why? It was early and anyone could of taken him or worse!

I brought my children here to pick up some stuff for our kitties. The staff of was very nice and helpful with ALL my children questions. The lady behind the counter was very helpful with getting the correct flea medication for our little family members.

Love this place! We bring our Chief here all the time and when we do the staff are so wonderful and interactive! One of the girls there (I can’t remember her name– ack!) even gives him a treat.
They have helped us with advise in food, allergies and dog behavior. The prices are fair and we love the selection. Chief loves coming here. Next we need to align our schedule with the groomer for nails —
They really care about the animals and take pride in their business and it shows — we love them!

This place sucks, the cashier with the glasses is rude!!! The groomer hurt my dog too!!! The prices are take expensive too!!! Might as well go to Petco or petsmart, at least they have air conditioning!!!

I love coming to Uptown Pets, they are always so helpful and nice and always help me out to my car with the dog food (it weighs 40 pounds… tad too heavy for me) Whenever i have a question they have a answer. You can tell the people who work at Uptown Pets really care about animals and are not just trying to sell you whatever and i truly appreciate that!

Yesterday I made a phone call to this lovely pet shop, asking if they carried rats. They said they carried feeders but also mentioned their feeders could be gentled into pets. I feel this was important for them to add, as most rats– fancies and feeders, make excellent pets. I then asked if the majority of her rats were the typical black hooded and PEW, and she replied that she had a very large selection. That piqued my interest enough to make the drive and see what they had.
I’ve had rats for over 20 years, and I’m always on the look out for something new or different. You really never know what you’ll find.
When I arrived she took me to see the rats and as described– there was a huge variety. She was very patient as I asked to see several individuals, take them out, put them to my ear to listen for congestion. As with most feeders, some were a little sniffly– but that is expected. The bins were all clean, water readily available as well as food. ALL the rats were alert and the majority were quite willing to be social.
I ended up purchasing three very unique and robust individuals, who have been named Ladybug, Cricket, and Lir. I couldn’t be more pleased with temperament and their build, which is better than I’ve seen in feeder stock in a very long time.
Five stars for customer service, patience, a clean store, a wide variety of animals, more patience, and excellent prices. Thank you. Please keep your beautiful selection of large and sweet rats. Can’t wait to come back for my or her pet needs!

Clean and friendly! I love to patronize our local shops!

I completely disagree with all of the negative reviews. The staff was very helpful and very knowlegeable. We were there for close to and hour and had non stop help from the staff talking about the different brands of food and which would be best for our newfoundland puppy. The prices didn’t were very similar to other stores that we have been to. We shop around and go to many different pet stores all over the Inland empire and will definitely be back here. I like that they have a frequent buyer program on the pet foods. Very helpful! I highly recommend this store for any of your pet needs. very clean also!

This was a horrible experience ‼Took two dogs into the shop today to get them cut and washed. Was not exactly sure how I want them cut but told the lady doing the cutting that it was up to her just not to shave them. When I went to pick them up they were shaved. When I told the lady that she shaved them she made a snippy comment about their harnesses being to tight. But never addressed the fact that she did the only thing that I asked her not to do. Would not go back or recommend them to anyone.

I needed my Miniature Schnauzer’s eyebrows fixed from a horrible experience at a Petco in Palm Desert. When I went in, my puppy was terrified! Cheryl was amazing! She fixed the problem areas and made my puppy comfortable! She made over him, and bonded with him before starting anything. She is great with animals! Definitely going back!

Uptown Pets, while clean and carrying a wide variety of items and does grooming as well, seems to have a stocking issue as of late. I had just begun to be somewhat of a regular. I have 2 dogs and 2 Zebra finch birds. Awhile ago while shopping there, an older lady offered to take my finch seed and millet while I continued to shop, and set them aside for me. I didn’t pay close enough attention because when I got home, I had no seed. *sigh* Now I’m back in the car and went somewhere else to get it that was closer to me. Last month I went there for canned dog food. They were out of the brand/​flavor that I was looking for. Sooo. I ordered it online (a case) and got free shipping but had to wait 2 – 3 days for it’s arrival. Now TODAY, I go in there for Finch seed and they are out. I have enough to fill my birds cup one more time and then I’m out as well! Drove to Tony’s, wasn’t open yet. *sigh*… will be back in the car tomorrow looking for Finch seed. I need a one stop has it, you get it and you’re stocked up kind of deal. So I think I’ll go to Bracken Farms once every couple of months (stock up while I’m there) and just keep ordering the dog food I want online. It arrives at my door free of charge. I would have preferred to have given my business here in town to help support our local town businesses, but it doesn’t seem to be working out for me… sorry to say. I don’t have time to drive up there and find out they don’t have it and then go somewhere else. So… goodbye Uptown Pets… and good luck to you.

Bracken Farms in Redlands offers a 5 lb. bag of Finch seed for 6.75. I was paying 5.99 for a 2 lb. bag at Uptown Pets. I also got 10 spray millet at Bracken Farms and they are huge, for 3.50. I think I got 5 for about that price. I have enough for 2 mos. was a bit of a drive to Redlands but they always have what I need and I get more for my money so I think it balances out.

UPDATE… since my original review they seem to be much better stocked and now offer various money saving programs for regular buyers on some of their products. Prices seem to have stabilized at a pretty reasonable level as well. I go there still. maybe once a month now for kibble for our 2 dogs and a treat or two for them. Nice folks. they do a lot of fund raising for our community.

Very clean and tidy, great selection of quality small animal foods, and big store space so lots to see and to browse! Employees are always very friendly and ready to help. A+ shop.

I always go to Uptown pets for my pet needs. They offer great quality food, and prices are always fair.
As for customer service, the managers could certainly use a quick course in customer service. I ran into an issue over a fish tank, that was dealt very poorly by one of the female managers. I was able to contact the owners, and they dealt with the matter accordingly. The owners are very kind people, and they value their customers greatly. I will continue to enjoy shopping at uptown pets, due to the wonderful ownership.

I recently moved to Yucaipa and wanted to purchase from the hometown business. I went into the store and purchased their parrot seed as it was very clean. I ordered 2−20# bags the first time from them and had no problem.
The second (and definitely the last time) I ordered, I was told to make sure I ordered in advance so I didn’t run out of seed.
I placed my order well in advance and was told it would be 2weeks before I received it. I said no problem.
When the order came in (plus no one called me as promised), I went to the store and it was not the right seed. I was promised three different dates as to when the correct seed would come in.
Now this morning I am told it will be another 1−½ weeks.
Guess I will forget helping the hometown businesses and go back to ordering on the internet. Uptown Pets didn’t act like they really wanted to resolve the problem.
I did not receive good customer service. Go somewhere to buy your parrot seed.

Love this place! :D I drive by it frequently up at the east end of Yucaipa Boulevard and convinced my boyfriend to stop one time. We were in need of a pleco for our friends’ fish tank that was being infested with algae. We stopped in and were immediately greeted, as well as being chirped at by two VERY friendly conures; I’ve never seen birds that friendly at a chain pet store before. One even tilted his head forward because he wanted his head scratched.
The woman helped us pick a pleco, which I can happily say has been alive for a couple months now! (The friend who owns the tank has been known to neglect the fish, so this new pleco as well as algae discs have worked out better).
When I found a stray dog that I took in (and then ended up keeping), I decided to come back to Uptown Pets because I remembered them having a good selection of natural and holistic pet food. I remembered right! When I came back, I was again greeted by a really nice lady who clearly knew her pet information.
I told her I was trying to keep my dog on a very natural diet, and she asked lots of questions (size, breed, age, sensitivities etc) to help me find some great food. The place has an EXCELLENT selection of natural dog food at GREAT prices for the quality! They have Innova, Canidae, Wellness, Natural Balance, Tiki, Stella & Chewy’s, Merrick, and Taste of the Wild. I saw a Canidae bag that had a BUY ONE GET ONE coupon that Uptown Pets taped to the bag. So I got two 5-​lb bags of Canidae for under $ 15. GREAT deal! Certain brands have frequent buyer cards so after a number of purchases the next bag is free.
I also like that when I had questions about chicken bones (cooked? raw? what’s safe?) the woman was great about explaining it to me. They also have a good natural CAT food selection as well! They usually have samples of some foods up front, and I got a sample of Stella & Chewy’s for my cats. Now even my finicky older cat is hooked! They have decent reptile, fish, small pet and bird sections. The space for those pets is smaller, but not bad for quality. Lots of great stuff. They even have natural pet wellness events and tooth cleanings!
I WILL be back here for my natural dog food when I’m in the area; so happy there’s a local business that has great selection and great prices that ALSO loves pets and treats customers with kindness! Thanks Uptown Pets!
