Ron’s Marine Service Center

A couple of years ago we had work done on our boat. When we got out on the lake we had a little trouble called rons and they talked us thru it. We have not used our boat in several years due to my husbands illness. I decided to try this year knowing I would have to do everything without his help. Naturally went back to Rons. So glad I did not only did they go thru everything on the boat to make sure I would not have trouble but when I got to the lake I called and was talked thru things that had nothing to do with mechanics. They could have said take a class but we’re extremely helpful instead. Would recommend them to anyone who wants an honest mechanic. Pretty hard to come by these days. We feel extremely blessed to have found them

We have had several boats and have had the opportunity to «test the waters» among boat repair shops. The kids are grown now and weekend sunset cruises in Big Bear have replaced family ski trips to the River. We have now «down-​graded» from a 400hp Howard to a 40hp Bennington pontoon. Servicing the outboard and trailer is not exactly rocket science and last year we received the competent service we expected…
However we also challenged them to install and wire an after-​market aluminum pedestal for our new electric downrigger. The work was very creative and very clean. We were impressed by their ingenuity and creativity — and the downrigger.
Compared to a certain «H» marina in Big Bear which caused our Howard to sink in the slip because of «faked» maintenance, Ron’s was a welcome alternative.
I cannot address Stephen’s frustration, but we’re going back this year and we’ll share the results…

I brought my boat in because it was leaking oil. I told them that I had pulled the motor replaced all all the seals but it was still leaking, and I was tired of trying to figure it out. Ron told me it was the oil pan so they pulled the motor replaced the same seals that I had just done and charged around 1300.00. When I took the boat out it still leaked oil just the same as it had. After taking the boat back to them and letting them take 4 weeks to look at it they told me it was now valve covers and would be another 400.00 So either the valve covers were the problem to start and pulling the motor was unneeded or the valve covers should have been caught to start with. I feel completely ripped off. I spent 1300.00 and still have the exact same issue I brought the boat in for. I will never be patronizing this business again. They were nice people but not willing to stand behind there work.
