I like there food, but there service is not very satisfactory. The owner is extremely rude. I also think it’s so cheap of them to have an old fashion ATM and they charge you a dollar to use it. I give places 3 chances before I decide not to return. I am not returning.

Charming local favorite! Down home country cooking offering tasty comfort food such as gravy and biscuits and pork chops and egg breakfasts. Very reasonably priced and friendly staff.

This place is always clean. There sourdough pancakes are my favorite. The waitress is my favorite part of all, she does her job with pride and always makes sure I don’t over order when I’m hungry

I usually really like this place and the food is always good, but the service today was just terrible. The older lady who owns the place is fine, but the younger girl(Luke Bryan shirt, brown hair) that was helping her out was awful. We walked in and sat down and we said hello. She just looked at us, didn’t say anything back. I ordered a large orange juice and my boyfriend ordered coffee. She brought me back a small orange juice(good thing because it was gross and tasted old so I didn’t even drink it) and brought him back his coffee. I looked at his cup and there was a huge lipstick mark on it. I asked her for a new cup and she gave me a very dirty look and said nothing. We said thank you and she again, said nothing. I don’t think I’ve seen her smile once to anyone since we’ve been in here. She hasn’t even said 2 words to us. Even when she came to pick up our plates or to see if we wanted more coffee, she just stood there and stared at us. I would suggest either discussing her bad attitude with her or finding someone new because I don’t think I will come back if she was the one working. I get its busy, but at least be a little friendly. Other than the service, food is great. Don’t order orange juice though lol

Always enjoyed this place. A little out of the way café. Love the pancakes. The owner is a gem. She is from Brownsville, up on the hill. My hometown. Great service consistently good food. A nice stop when out and about.

Been living in Yuba city for 20 years and I’ve never been here until today. It’s small and cozy, the food was really good. I got the Spanish omelet it’s pretty big and with a good amount of hash browns which is the best tasting hash browns I’ve had… they taste so fresh. My mom got the pancakes and they were pretty big and nice and light. I would definitely come back, the only thing is the lady has to serve, help customers out and ring you out. They need at least one more person and maybe the waitress can smile just a little more. other then that it was really good I would recommend this to anyone who loves an old hole in the wall, mom and pops place(:

Really good greasy spoon hole in the wall. Pancakes are huge! One would have been enough. Not too many tables and they only take cash. However went on a Saturday morning and only waited about 5 min for a table. They do have an ATM like system though if you forget case. Try the fresh salsa!

I’ve been thinking about this place for a while now and finally decided to visit it, so glad I did. My husband and I arrived after 10:30am on a Friday morning and soon found out the place was packed! Always a good sign. We sat down at the two chairs they have available for you to sit on inside while you wait but were promptly told that there was a table open in the corner. It took about 5 minutes or so for the one waitress, who may I say is a delightful older lady, to visit our table and serve us water with menus. 10 minutes or so later she took our order of one chicken fried steak and eggs(which comes with hash browns and optional toast), a half order of «mess» which is essentially hash browns one biscuit cut in half doused in sausage gravy(I added two over medium eggs on top for an extra charge) and finally an order of sourdough pancakes that I was so eager to try. Portion wise for the price is the best value you could get. They were HUGE portions and I even only ordered a half serving! Taste wise, my husband gobbled up his chicken fried steak like no tomorrow but generously gave me a bite before finishing off his plate. We both agreed it was delicious. My «mess» was THEBEST. Exactly hit the spot for this morning, I could be biased because I have been craving it for some time. Unfortunately though, the sour dough pancakes that everyone raves about on here was the biggest let down. I don’t know if it was the batter but super, super sour. I mean I know they’re supposed to be sourdough. But this was beyond anyone would enjoy(only reason for minus one star). They were SUPER busy and I didn’t want to bother the ONLY lovely waitress in this joint so I politely asked for them to go along with a ¼ of my food left. I. WAS. STUFFED. Additional info, along with the only waitress, there is only one cook and one cleaner. Plus only about give or take 10 tables. THEREWILLBE A WAIT. Just a heads up. But OH my lawdy is it worth it. Local joint, great prices, best atmosphere.

We gave this little restaurant chance last week because our usual place was closed for vacation. I was pleasantly surprised and the food was the delicious. I had the 2+2+2 which was two eggs two sausage and two French toast for under seven dollars. The food tasted good and the price was on point. I will definitely come back again soon.

Waited quite a while to be seated while 3 open tables needed to be cleaned(young waitress was busy bitching to old waitress about not getting a tip from the previous diners, which I now understand) finally was seated. Old waitress came over with another coffee cup(3 already on the table, only 2 of us) when we declined coffee was told we wasted her time, since we didn’t want coffee and she had to bring another cup over(ummm, there was 3 on the table only 2 of us, don’t think she could count). We ordered very simply, bacon, eggs, country potatoes with a half side of biscuits and gravy,(she yelled quite loudly that the bacon and eggs does NOTCOME with potatoes AND biscuits and gravy, we have to choose one or the other. I calmly and QUIETLY said we asked for a half order of biscuits and gravy. She said«WELL u didn’t make it clear enough to me that u wanted to add it, Ummmmmmmm ok) Food comes no gravy or biscuits, she left before I could even ask where the rest of the food was. I got up and went to the counter waited 3 – 4 min for the 2 waitress to stop bitching and asked if we could get the rest of our food, she said«what food» umm the biscuits and gravy please, to which she replied«u chose the potatoes, u don’t get both i told u that already» then turned to the young one and said u can finish with this table she obviously can’t understand english… By the way I’m Caucasian(very obvious) what I don’t understand is rude behavior, poor waitresing, and cold food. Bill came to us with the bacon eggs potatoes and the half order of biscuits and gravy charged to the tab(that we never got) When I finally got her back over to accept payment I had taken off the $ 3.50 since I never received the rest of the food. She said no its 27.55 not 24.05, I said I’m not paying for something YOUNEVER brought then argued for 5 mins about what came with the meal. Here is 24.25(didn’t have a nicke) have a nice day and please use the 20 cents to buy you a new attitude and a hearing aide battery so you can HEAR what the customer ask for. Will NEVER eat here again, if I could have given it no stars I would have.

Boss lady Jackie and her staff are hardworking folks that make a mean breakfast. Fast service in small locally owned establishment. The sourdough pancakes are the BEST! If you can sit at the counter and have a friendly chat with Jackie while you eat. Biscuits and gravy are also a must here.

Best sourdough pancakes I’ve ever had! They are amazing! Excellent quality food and the lady-known as ‘the boss lady’ is so great! Good biscuits and gravy! And bacon is always quality. Pay with cash — because I believe they only have an atm. We’ve already gone back three times! Love it!

If you are coming here for breakfast you must try the sourdough pancakes. They are divine. Not a pancake person, then order some biscuits and gravy. Home cooked taste just like your grandma used to make. Yummy!

GOOD: The food is to die for! Best sourdough pancakes and gravy I have ever taisted. Orange juice is fresh and so is the syrup. Not a long wait time for your food. BAD:Very small restaurant! Waitresses can have a attitude sometimes.Bathroom.i felt very clausterphobic(sp?). Otherwise the food is totally worth it.:)

A brief overview: 1. S L O W service — there was over an hour between the time we sat down and the time our food arrived. 2. Rude waitress. We were greeted with, «Here are the menus. I’ll get to you when I can, but I’m very busy». 3. Food is so-so. This is the second time me and my family have visted Sundowner. And the last time we will visit Sundowner. I think that if this café is going to survive, there needs to be some serious conversations about how to run a restaurant.

An all american nostalgia diner located in downtown Yuba City. I’ve had the benefit of experiencing Cook-N-Pot and Duke’s Diner and put this one at the top of my list. I’ve only had breakfast at each location but the food, service and prices scored a hat trick. Small diner that isn’t focused on speedy service or premade food, it’s about having coffee, conversations with good company. Best part is the breakfast prices were reduced making the price of the meal worth it!
