History

Established in 2014.

Ypsilanti Running Co. is the culmination of almost 25 years of experience running, first a s means to personal fitness for the owner, Mike Nix, and then as means for livelihood, having worked in run specialty for over 10 years. Because running and fitness has transformed my life, through YRC I am committed to sharing the importance and benefit of physical fitness in both individuals as well as the community in which we serve.

As a former football player at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, I had gained quite a bit of weight that was unnecessary after graduation. In order to lose this weight, I started running. As a result, after a over a year of commitment to my goal of losing weight, I lost over 100 pounds, and have run practically every day since then. This transformation had a profound effect on me, and as a result, I am interested in sharing the important of fitness and helping individuals reach their fitness goals whatever those may be.
