I found myself in the market for a new bike after my well loved bike was stolen.
Jesse was very patient letting me test ride multiple bikes, adjusting seats and handlebars. He asked about my riding style and preferences. I ended up buying a Salsa Fargo, which I absolutely love. It is not the bike I would of picked if left on my own– however, it is the perfect bike for me. I was truly impressed with Jesse’s knowledge and passion for bicycling.
I have been impressed with the bike build. There has been no cable stretch and all parts were expertly installed.
If you are in the market for a new bike, I would highly recommend Tree Fort Bikes.

It seems like I have been unlucky with Tree Fort Bikes (online store). The orders have been hit or miss as far as getting the right stuff. I do like the price match, but some times they will not match the prices (tried one with an item on Amazon). I guess the last straw was with a tire purchase awhile back. I ordered a pair of 700c 120 tpi studded tires, and they sent 27 tpi studded tires instead. Unfortunately, I did not catch this as the order was placed in late summer, and it was winter before I had noticed. The good from this is I inspect every order closely and quickly, something I should’ve done in the first place.
I may try them again in the future since they do carry a lot of stuff online, so my review may change if the experience gets better.

Tree Fort Bikes is incredible! I was hit by a car about 1 month after purchasing a new Giant Anyroad. My bike was ruined; I was lucky and not hurt badly. Jesse at Tree Fort worked with Giant to offer me a replacement bike – same style, one model year older but brand new – at an incredible discount. Between insurance and the discount, I was barely out of pocket with a great replacement bike. I first chose Tree Fort because they were the best at helping me understand my choices when I started shopping. But after the replacement experience, I can assure everyone that these folks provide the best service possible.

These guys are the best. I went in for a tune up on my bike and they fixed my wheel, trued the wheel, cleaned the bike and installed my new grips for less than the price of the tune up. They are economical and friendly

Jesse Ramsey is the man. I live about an hour from Ypsilanti, came to town to visit a friend. I was already in the market for a Giant Roam, so I came in on a whim an hour before they closed… on a Sunday. They had the size and color that I wanted, but it was boxed. The man stayed after hours to build me a bike AND price matched my Toledo, OH LBS.
Jesse if you’re reading this, sorry for being «that guy» but you’ve got my eternal gratitude and my loyalty. Will be coming back, HOLLA!

I bought a couple hubs online from Tree Fort and one of the hubs was sent with the wrong size nuts. I called them and made arrangements to return the hub and asked them to verify that the replacement hub had the correct nuts before sending it. They assured me that they would. A week or so later, my replacement hub arrived, once again, with nuts that didn’t fit! Not wanting to wait another week for the wrong parts to arrive again, I took the hub to my local bike shop and they hooked me up with the correct size nuts. I then went to the Tree Fort website to provide two product reviews; a good review for the front hub that had no issues, but an honest review for the hub that repeatedly shipped with wrong hardware. Go figure, they only published the good review. Nice guys, but something is amiss with their online parts department.

We went in here on Sunday to purchase my boyfriend a a bike and potentially drop a lot of $$…well our experience was no bueno. The guy working was a jerk. He was texting on his phone and basically didn’t even look up at us for a second to help answer our questions. He rolled his eyes when we asked to look at a bike that was placed up on a higher shelf (because like none were down on the bottom).
Anyway– he went to look in a storage area for a bike we were interested in and when he came back in, he walked right past us to help some dude out who walked into the store while the mean guy went outside. The employee didn’t say a single word to us to hold on so he could help someone out– which was pretty rude.
So after about 15 minutes of him acting like we didn’t exist, we decided to leave.
So to the owners of this store… you lost a good sale this day thanks to this guys attitude. We ended up going elsewhere and biking a new bike with all the fixings.

I’ve been looking for a specific bike for some time and so far no bike shop was willing to order the bike for me to ride without buying it first. It’s very difficult to buy a bike sight unseen and never riding it! Tree Fort Bikes was willing to order the bike in for me to try out without any pressure or guarantee from me to buy it if it didn’t fit right. Talk about great customer service!

They assembled a rep-​owned bicycle for me. I also purchased a bike for my 4 yr old daughter. She LOVES it! Customer service was great! Everyone was friendly and helpful!

I ordered a small part, after 11 days it has still not arrived. The item did not ship until 5 days after I ordered it. They shipped it USPS First Class. So this part of the review may more reflect USPS, and their decision to use USPS. USPS first class is horrible and unreliable (priority mail is okay). I called yesterday and asked for a call back today which I did not get. I called again today and asked them to overnight the part I need and they agreed to do that. I will update this review if and when I receive the item.

Online Store:
I purchased a pair of cycling shoes online and – as I do with all of my online purchases – had them shipped to my residential address, which is different from my billing address. A day later, I received an email that my shipping address couldn’t be verified, so I called customer service, waited, and gave them my billing phone number. This is where I should have just cancelled my order and ordered from Universal Cycles, which had the same cycling shoe at the same price; same shipping; same excellent reviews on Unilocal.
I received the same email an hour and a half later and called again, giving another billing number (either of them should have been correct). This wasn’t worth my time. At this point I certainly should have cancelled my order and gone elsewhere. The customer service representative even had the nerve to lie to me about why my time was being wasted. He said that they verify this information for the protection of their customers.
When you pay with a credit card, you’re already protected from fraud. The verification was for their protection, so my time was wasted for their benefit; not mine.
An hour later I received the same email a third time. I quickly emailed them back to cancel my order and ordered from Universal Cycles.
My advice: Buy from Universal Cycles in the first place.

This is the best place on the internet to buy bike parts. Not only will they match prices, but their customer service is top-​notch. When a part I’d purchased was lost in the mail (not their fault), they not only worked with the carrier to try to find it, but ended up sending a new part for free when it wasn’t located. The best.

Great pricing (love the price match), and fantastic customer service. Recently had an item shipped differently than I expected, Cheri in customer service listened to me and truly made me feel that she cared. She fixed the issue without me having to ask and made me feel like a valued customer. Issues will happen, how you deal with it separates a good company from a great one.
Keep it up.

With my first online purchase with TFB I started small to get a feel of buying from them. The bottom bracket purchase went smoothly. Months later while shopping for a new cross bike, I decided to make the purchase with them as my previous purchase went well, they have excellent reviews here and on mtbr and they were one of the few online places that had the bike I wanted.
I ordered online on Monday and received the bike via FedEx on Saturday. There were issues with processing my card but after several calls to TFB and my bank the issue was resolved. The TFB folks were great to talk with on the phone.
The bike arrived in a TFB branded box that was sturdy and protective. After removing the protective cardboard and foam and cutting a few zip ties I set about putting the bike together. Install handlebars, front wheel and saddle/​seat post and pedals. A couple more adjustments and I went out on a test ride — perfect! They state online that they remove the bike from the factory box and take a day to service prep it. That means after you do simple assembly, you can hop on and ride immediately. No need for shifting or braking adjustments. *almost* turnkey purchase.
A bike is a big purchase and doing it online could make one hesitant. Based on my bike purchase experience I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend buying a bike from TFB. If you know what you want, what size you need and have basic bike mechanical skills then go for it!

I will be a repeat customer.

We have a pair of Siberian huskies that need regular exercise to keep the crazy in check. The best way to do this is to harness them up and hitch them to the bike for a run around the neighborhood. Even though we have pretty sturdy bikes, they’re quite hard on the alignment and especially the brakes.
We usually take the bikes in to Tree Fort once a year for maintenance and tune-​up. The work is always impeccable and very reasonably priced. The only minus is they’re so popular that it may take a while before we get the bike back.

Disclaimer: this place is a couple miles from my house, so it’s truly my LBS and I want it to succeed. But I’ve shopped in most of the other areaspike stores and this is truly my favorite, and not just because of the location.
They match any advertised price. Their sale prices are great. Their selection is awesome (the warehouse is a couple stores down in the same strip mall so they have more stock on hand than it seems).
Best of all their staff has always been extremely helpful. I’m not an expert rider, and they have always patiently answered my semi-​dumb questions including steering me away from higher priced products and towards other stuff that suited my needs better.
They didn’t roll their eyes when I tried on almost all their helmets. Several times.
They let me take bunches of bikes for test rides to make sure I was happy with my choice. They carefully tweaked the fit of the bike I purchased, and re-​tweaked it when I brought it back for my free tune up after 500+ hard miles.
They helped me choose a bunch of accessories and even helped me install several of them. And it’s easy to quickly get in and out for a new tube or CO canister or bottle of chain lube. Über convenient.
I plan to spend another big chunk of change there this spring on a new MTB. And I’m sure they’ll make sure I leave happy and stay happy. A+.
