Schultz Outfitters is a full-​service fly fishing outfitter located on the banks for the Huron River. Our shop features brands like Simms, Patagonia, Sage, Scott, TFO, Rio, Scientific Anglers, and Ross, along with Southeast Michigan’s most complete fly tying selection.

Schultz Outfitters also offers guided fly fishing on the Huron, Flint, Shiawassee, and Kalamazoo Rivers for Smallmouth, Carp, Pike and Musky, along with Lake St. Clair and inland lakes. Our destination angling services host trips to Alaska, Montana, Chile, Mexico and points closer to home. We also offer fly fishing, fly tying and casting lessons for beginners and experts alike.

History

Established in 2003.

Schultz Outfitters was established as Southeastern Michigan’s only full-​time, four-​season fly-​fishing guide service. In 2012 we expanded our operation, opening a comprehensive fly shop in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town area.

Meet the Business Owner

Mike S.

Business Owner

Mike Schultz is the Co-​owner, Shop Manager & Head Guide at Schultz Outfitters. Born and raised in Michigan, Mike has enjoyed the outdoors his entire life, developing an interest in fly-​fishing as a teenager. In 2003, he started guiding and working in the fly-​fishing industry full time. Logging 200+ days a year on the water annually, Mike has a vast knowledge of Midwestern waters and beyond.

His angling travels have taken him from Alaska to the Bahamas and many places in between. Mike has been an ORVIS Endorsed Guide since 2006, and is a member of the Scientific Anglers, Rainy’s Fly Company, and Ross Reels National Pro Staffs’. In 2010 Mike was honored to become a member of the Simms Fishing Products Ambassador program.
