Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest

My daughter and I stayed here in May and found the décor to be badly in need of freshening up. Cracked concrete everywhere at the entrance; worn carpeting; gloomy bathrooms. You get the idea. The place was clean, however, I will give it that, and there’s a Kroger gas station right across the street.
It’s about a 15-​minute drive to the U of M campus. We had a nice breakfast buffet at this Marriott. The front desk people were always very uninterested in helping the customer, to say the least.

The restaurant was under construction and dinning was relegated to the lobby. Gee that was intimate. The only reason we planned our stay there was to use the indoor pool with our son. The Saturday night of our stay a fight broke out in the pool area and the best solution hotel staff came up with to stop the bad behavior was to close the pool. Very unfortunate indeed…

I was looking for a place for me and a friend to have brunch. I checked a few familiar locations and than remembered that the Marriott had brunch. I have been here for Christmas parties so I decided to give it a shot for lunch. The restaurant is located downstairs just off the Golf course. It is a welcoming and casual atmosphere. We paid for 2 and quickly took a tour. The first area was for the fruit. pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, biscuits and gravy, potatoes and other breakfast items. The real indulgence was in the area beyond the window. There was also various pastas, fish, jambalaya and other pasta items. There was also a meat carver. He invited us to take a sampling of the ham or roast beef. Yes. Thank you very much. There was also a desert area. Plenty of food to indulge in here. The wait staff and servers were very attentive and kind. Although we arrived later than others they offered to keep the food out until we were ready to leave. The gentleman carving the meat was especially kind and you always remember that. This is a great spot for brunch. I definitely plan on visiting again.

This hotel was outstanding in my recent stay. Bought 2 Travelzoo Vouchers which gave me a great rate with $ 50 to spend in the restaurants. The room had a beautiful view of the lake and was very comfortable. Service staff was excellent at the front desk and the restaurant. Food was also excellent, especially at the Sunday brunch. I would not hesitate to return.

A great Hotel and a great stay.
I arrived rather late upon initial check-​in, close to midnight, and yet the staff were all very friendly and smiling. They offered me an upgrade to the top floor on the concierge level and even offered to let the bartender know I would like a drink prior to closing. Each morning the staff in the lounge were very friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and a good way to start. The afternoon/​evening happy hours were equally nice but with some great little bites ranging from lamb chops to pasta. All of this was free when you say on the lounge level, but if you choose to have any alcoholic beverages they are not free.
I decided to have dinner at the hotel bar, The View, a couple of nights during my stay mainly because the first time was very enjoyable. The first night I had the Brisket and while not a true to form brisket it was still delicious. It had a dark gravy sauce it was smothered in and gave it almost a Pot Roast taste and feel, but definitely an elevated gourmet version with the meat having a wonderful tenderness.
The other dishes I sampled were the lamb lollipops — fantastic. The Coconut Chicken soup was a pleasant surprise among the many items i tasted, the Bartender highly praised the quality of the soups on a daily basis and he was right. The soup had a perfect flavor and is a must try if you find yourself at the hotel.
The bartender, Issac, is a great asset to the hotel and bar. He has some great stories about his times in Key West and even provided some must see places next time i’m there.
The only downside — — - it pains me to say, but this hotel sits on a golf course and I wasn’t able to play it. This is due in part to my schedule and the fact that it was never above 20 degrees and the course was covered with snow, but maybe next time. The course looked challenging from the birds eye view you get on the lounge floor and is surrounded by ample water.

I’ve stayed here before and came back because it is a full service Marriott by U of M. Not super impressed this time. I had flies in my room the first night –2. Then when I came back tonight after work I killed 8 of them on the window. The lampshades are dirty and broken. The wall paper is stained with food or smushed bugs by the desk. I like this place for the room service, a great gym and location. But it really needs a good cleaning.

Pretty bland Marriott. The rooms are dated. Challenges:
1: One night out of four my room had not been serviced.
2: No refrigerator in the room: PITA.
3: Elevator is very noisy; even four doors down.
4: Lame concierge room.
Upsides:
1: Beautiful lake /​golf course view.
2: Nice staff.
3: Close to interstate.
4: Big parking lot.

For the 21^st century this property is sorely lacking. Here for a medical conference, the technology is woefully lacking. First off, the computer stations in the main lobby will invariably not connect to the internet on a regular basis — –this, with a LAN line!!! Secondly, the lecture hall with the horseshoe configuration is a nice setup, initially; then you reason that there is not a single electrical outlet except against the walls. If you are spending an entire day in a conference and have your laptop to take notes, you can probably plan on your laptop dying before the end of the day. To make matters worse, the wireless (albeit free) internet is useless inside the lecture hall. This is completely unacceptable.
Although my room was nicely appointed, it smelled musty — -very probably another sign of an aging facility. The ‘gym’ is a joke. For the prices you are paying, three cardio machines and a rack of free weights is also unacceptable. I have stayed in other Marriotts as well as other facilities at the same price point with vastly superior gym facilities. How much can one multi-​function cable weight system cost???

I have come here twice the first time was wonderful but the second could be better.
1^st time
I came here the first time by myself I checked into the Concierge lounge. I went up there after a busy day to find a friendly, helpful evening Concierge by the name of Amy. I remember her name because of the great suggestions and assistance with reservations she gave. I was very excited to come back this spring and see her once more.
2^nd time
This time I brought my family with me. I of course checked into the Concierge lounge due to my earlier experience with Amy. I excitedly walked in but found Amy at the front desk. Weird? She kindly checked me in. She even remembered me from last fall. I got up to the lounge expecting helpful Amy, but I find an old grouchy man that only talks about golf. WHAT! As an Elite guest I expect Elite survive. This hotel went from 5 stars to 3for bad concierge service. SO DISAPPOINTED.

Personally I find this the best full service hotel in Ann Arbor, although it is actually in nearby Ypsilanti. The staff and service are always good and friendly. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. They have upgraded toiletries which are a plus — have to admit that I really like the shampoo and soap and always take some home with me whenever I stay. The concierge lounge is decent for breakfast, evenings passable too — oh for the days when you got a comp glass of wine too.
Flat panel TV, free wifi both good. Beautiful setting on the golf course. I have never had noise problems that others mention.
My primary issue is the price — usually very steep, hence I stay elsewhere frequently — but I always look here — and stay whenever I can get a room for $ 100 a night or not too much more — then definitely the best value in the area.

Update to my 11÷24÷13 review:
I stayed here again for the convention this year. Much better of a stay this time. I don’t know if it’s because I was on the Marriott Rewards floor or what but I have no complaints. :)

This place appears nice from the lobby but is actually old, dirty and needs a major remodel. The room we stayed in for 5 nights has an out dated window heating/​air conditioning unit that is loud and blows directly on the bed. There are stains on the mattress and drapes that look like blood? The couch was in a weird place in the room so we moved it in front of the t.v. only to find a used pair of pink thong underwear on the floor. Gross! The house keeping staff is not helpful, we’ve been out of the room by 10:00 am every day and that’s too late for them to wait without knocking on the door to ask if we want the room cleaned. We left at 9:30 am on Thanksgiving and returned at 7pm to find our room had not been cleaned. The shower has peeling paint and mold on the ceiling. We took our toddler niece to the pool, it was freezing and the pool area was covered with ants. I’ve traveled a lot and stay at numerous hotels. This place is on it’s last leg. We won’t be staying here again.

I stayed here last month for about 10 days. The lobby is really nice and looks all fancy. There’s a little gym with a great view. I only went in there to get water, but they had a good number of machines. The view of the lake and golf course is really pretty, especially at sunrise and sunset.
I really disliked this place at first because I could only see the faults. I guess it’s a little older, so the bathroom had no fan, the beds were sunken in, and the walls super thin. I could hear everything the dude next door was doing. So awk. But after a couple days I got used to all that and kind of grew fond of the place. It was clean, comfortable, and didn’t smell like shit, there was free wifi, cable on a flat screen, and the room was pretty large so I couldn’t ask for much more.
The majority of the staff is super friendly. Servers, bartenders, front desk, cleaning people, etc. I lost my key card twice and they gladly gave me a new one and didn’t even seem annoyed. I left my change, along with other stuff, on my nightstand the first day and I guess the cleaning person thought it was the tip and took it. I wasn’t planning on tipping until I left, so that was kind of awkward and they prob thought I was a cheap ass… So I guess don’t leave change unless that’s your tip.
The conference area was nice and spacious; there were always snacks and drinks laid out. I got pretty sick of American fewd after being here, but it was fine. The breakfast buffet had typical food and the restaurant in the lounge was kinda pricey. The food there was just alright. Decent priced drinks though. Drinking is my fav hobby, so the bar was the best part of staying here. Btw, there’s no ginger beer incase you wanted a Moscow mule.
I don’t think I saw a single family, just a bunch of business people. For like 3 days during my stay, there were hoards of teenagers there for some student conference and they were super loud and running around like they were at Disneyland. I’m not that much older than them so I didn’t want to be that person who complained, but thankfully some other grumpy person did and there was silence within 10 min, so big ups to the staff for laying down the law.
Overall an enjoyable stay and the best customer service ;) Also, it’s only like 20 min to Ann Arbor and DTW!

The only reason in not giving this place 5 stars is because me and the fiancé weren’t fans of the bed and pillows, and we couldn’t turn the air lower than 68. Otherwise, the hotel is very nice, this is the second time we’ve stayed. The service is INCREDIBLE. 2 of the 5 nights we stayed, we were hanging out at the bar at the end of the night. The bartenders, specifically, Marshall & Lenny & a woman with short blonde hair, and the manager, we’re awesome about suggesting some drinks and shots, and they were just nice and fun. One night, The manager went above and beyond and actually went to get us pizza after she called about 3 places and nobody would deliver. This will be our place to stay when we’re in the area!

Honestly, I’ve had better experiences at other Marriott locations. Our experience:
1) We had checked in at around 2:30AM Friday night and were looking forward to sleeping in the next day but were woken up at 7AM to incessant knocking to give us a breakfast ticket. We weren’t even planning to go to breakfast as we planned on sleeping in past 10AM when the breakfast closes nor had we asked for the tickets. The staff continued to knock constantly for 10 minutes until one of us got up to get the breakfast ticket — slide it under the door for god sakes!
2) On Saturday, we came back to the hotel around 7PM to find that our room hadn’t been cleaned. When we called to find out what happened, they said our room had requested a «no service» when we had done no such thing.
3) Not only was our room not cleaned Saturday, but I wonder how much it was cleaned on Friday because later that night, we went to put something in the fridge and found a half drunk bottle of water in there that we had not put in there. And, when we did put something in there, we realized a few hours later that the fridge wasn’t even working.
4) When we called downstairs to enquire about printing at the business center, we were told we cannot print anything and you have to be a guest to print — and quite rudely, if I must say. We were calling from the hotel room phone — seriously, does the front lobby not have a way to check that we’re calling from a room?!? After saying that we were calling from a room, the staff at the front desk just said, «oh i see that now».
I understand this weekend was busy because the Real Madrid team was staying at this hotel, but the other guests at hotels should be treated with respect and get at least the level of service expected from a Marriott.

Decent gym (with a view) and pool. The only place we’ll stay at when we’re in the Ann Arbor area. We had room 521 and 522. They are connecting rooms and we were told the rooms have recently been updated. They are missing towel/​robe hooks in the bathroom and a towel rack for the sink. Otherwise, it’s a well-​appointed room. Our room had a desk, fridge, coffee maker, safe, office chair, and an armchair with a lamp that can be used as a reading nook. Our adjoining room had a similar setup but was missing a fridge. Both rooms overlook the golf course and nearby lake. Quite picturesque! I can see why they always have an event or wedding booked every time I stay here.

I stayed at this property for two nights while visiting a client in the area. Gosh I wish I brought my golf clubs as the course looks beautiful. The staff was very accommodating and helped me out when I had a room issue. Make sure you ask for a golf course view on an upper floor as its quite nice overlooking the lake and golf course. To my surprise I had Direct TV in my room so I had my pick of news and sports channels. One minor inconvenience no sleep timer on the TV.
There are a couple of reasons why I will not return to this property:
* I had the misfortune of first getting an adjoining room. I travel frequently and have stayed in these rooms with no issues. For some reason I could hear everything the person said through the door. And this guy was on the phone a lot. The staff did change my room the next AM.
* Concierge lounge. Yes I know first world problem! Staff at the lounge was great for both breakfast and afternoon service. First off they do not open until 630AM. Since sunup is real early they should open earlier at 6AM. The afternoon snacks were not up to snuff so to speak. Actually they were pi$$ poor compared to other Marriott properties.
* Fitness Center. Yes it large, clean and if you need a good aerobic workout you are all set. They have one rack of weights, yes a complete rack and two benches and that’s it. No machines at all. There is plenty of space to add a few weight machines and I would expect them to have these options based on their rack rates. I’ve stayed at Courtyard’s that are better equipped
Based on the price I paid for two nights I will not return. Of course your priorities may differ from mine.

I was here for a conference, and the staff was wonderful to work with. The day of the event, we were so well taken care of. The front desk made copies for us when we had a miscommunication between our group. We had 2 different people doting on us through our presentation, going so far as to give us their cell phones numbers so we could reach them instantly if we needed help. The room was comfortable, break items were yummy and everyone we encountered was really friendly. And, the grounds are beautiful!

Stayed here for a week. Room was nice, very comfortable beds and I had a view of Ford lake. The staff here is extremely friendly, anytime I passed an employee, they said hi, or asked if I needed anything.
Not too far of a drive to restaurants and bars.

In my opinion, The View offered mediocre food and slow service for a relatively high price.
We decided to dine here while on a business trip as a convenience, since we were staying in the hotel. First, the set-​up of this bar/​restaurant is odd, as it is in the hotel lobby with no real division whatsoever. In fact, our table was at the outer edge of the dining area, with a walkway between our table and the main area of the restaurant. Other hotel guests were constantly walking by as they went to their rooms, which was a bit distracting. The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired.
The food itself was just ok. My Caesar salad had dressing on the side and included tomatoes, neither of which is the typical Caesar presentation. For my main dish, I had a shrimp and chicken dish with a tomato broth, served with corn on the cob and fingerling potatoes. It was unremarkable, except that the corn was too charred to eat. My colleagues were similarly unimpressed by their meals, especially the one who ordered the grilled fish entrée.
Service was friendly, but slow. I think this is because only one person was serving the entire restaurant. I think he may have also been doubling as bartender.
For the price – upwards of $ 20 per entrée – you can do much, much better in this area.
