Although I am in my late twenties, apparently I look much younger than 21. With that being said, I have walked into this store many times and very few times has someone offered to help me. Maybe I look like I know what I want? Since I feel uncomfortable in this store, I usually scope out the under $ 10 and under $ 20 bottles that are located in the front of the store. I will occasionally venture beyond the first few racks. I appreciate the intimate descriptions that the store provides with most of the wines. I like to have some idea of what I am buying and what foods and desserts will pair nicely with the wine. After being scrutinized, I walk over to the register to pay and the staff member has this look of amusement. She thinks she has caught a minor purchasing wine(what teenager buys wine in the first place). She asks for my ID and then proceeds to ask for my birth date. I am 100% willing to comply with this request but do not give me attitude. I’m a paying customer over the age of 21 who happens to look young and enjoy wine so don’t discriminate.

First time in the place and asked if they carry specific brands and types of wine and received nothing but sarcasm from young staff and the manager. When I asked where a specific type of wine might be so I could check for myself. I’d never been there and didn’t know where to look. A young employee said«hmph. good luck finding that.» Walked out empty-handed and will not return. I take my business where it’s appreciated.

2 things usually happen when you walk into a wine store: you are either dealing with someone that knows nothing or someone that speaks over your head in an effort to intimidate you to purchase a high $$$ bottle of wine(or liquor) Suburban is the opposite. Every employee, including the owner, is determined to make sure that you walk out of the store with a great bottle that matches your price point. Their selection is ridiculously large and covers all the bases. They introduced me to Russian Standard vodka which is 10 times better than Kettle One and significantly less expensive. When dealing with a commodity like wine/spirits you can really only distinguish yourself through your service. Suburban truly stands out as the best in the region.

Best staff, great selection, outstanding service. Anyone can sell you liquor and wine, but can they get to know what you like and anticipate your need? There are experts for every wine region on staff and a hard liquor expert. In-store tastings, food an wine pairings, education classes, and the occasional wine event(shared with Peter Pratts). None better.

Very large selection. The guy who worked there helped me find a good bottle of coconut rum. I know this isn’t like picking out vintage Bordeaux, but I wanted something a bit nicer than Malibu. Plus the only bottle of Malibu they had looked to be about 2 liters which was way more than I needed. Nice place, Good Service

Wine shops are all about service now. You can call your local liquor store for delivery, and even if they don’t have it, you can put in a special order and have them deliver it the next day. But if you want the premier experience, this is where to shop. Each section has it’s own specialist who manages their own inventory and knows just about every label in production. Nearly every item in the shop has an artfully written tasting note by a very knowledgeable staff member; you can feel their enthusiasm(and not in a patronizing way). Tastings are comprehensive, usually conducted by a section manager who feels very passionately about the product shown. Spirit tastings will often feature several items to show new cocktails, etc. This is by far the top of the line wine shop in Westchester. It should come as no surprise then that you will also pay top of the line prices.

This is my favorite wine shop in mid westchester, hands down. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, the best selection in the area, and great tasting notes from the staff are offered on many wines on the shelf. They have all sorts of delicious wines in the under $ 15 price range, but you can also find all the best at over $ 50 a bottle as well. No complaints, gripes, or negetive aspects to point out. BONUS: Really comprehensive tastings every couple of weeks, not to be missed at $ 0 cost to you. All the wine being shown is on sale during the tastings.
