We loved going here, probably more than once a week before. The previous reviewer was dead on. Things have spiraled down hill faster than I thought possible. The shop is no longer a cute destination, the walls definitely need pictures. I was taken back by the pizza ads and outfits they wore. We were the only ones in there and had problems finding seating. Why? Pizza boxes on one table, folded pizza boxes on another, management binder/banana peel/soda cup on another– we were pushed to the back of the store to find a table. Not very welcoming. The kitchen door was propped open. Why does it need to be? They had a can of food, presumably syrup to prop the door, as they mopped the floors with the can right on the floor! Isn’t that a health violation? I had chocolate– it did taste as it always has. My wife and daughter had peanut butter cups and cream(vanilla with Reese’s mixed in). My wife said it didn’t taste right and had an off color to it. There wasn’t much of any Reese’s in it either. We asked the girl working if they changed it(I recognized her from before) but before she could answer, an older lady– probably the owner, butted in and snapped ‘it’s from a mix. No!” It was like they tried to mix pb sauce into it. The girl working the counter looked depressed this time around– not like last year under different ownership. The shop did more to turn me off to ever trying the pizza shop next door. You can count me out from ever stepping foot in that place again. Ice cream should be a joyous and happy occasion, not a revisit to postwar Germany.

Went to the meadows last night with a friend’s family. We have been BIG fans of the Meadows of York until May of 2014. I have to give some background before continuing with my review. Last year, mid fall, the Meadows was selling 30 dollar gift certificates at half price. The cards would expired in December. I believe in late November they shut down for the season, and reassured customers on their Facebook page they would be allowed to use them until a certain date next year. Fast forward to May 2014, their reopening date. Their electronic sign displaying the flavors of the day are gone, so we can’t even tell what todays flavors are. The beautiful vintage pictures of the Meadows are all torn down and replaced with black gaping holes, annoying advertisements for the restaurant next door plague the place, and random sandwiches and soda cans are sold on the front counter. We know were at the meadows, but the branding for Italian Brothers Grill throws us off guard. We go to place our order and use our gift cards and we find out they are under new management and no longer accept the cards. We were very disappointed, not offered any refund, and left with no frozen custard. The custard is and always will be phenomenal, but my experience yesterday was terrible. I’m not making this review to slander the place and keeping business from there, but rather to alert customers and the new owners to my experience. Please do something about the gift card situation and the environment/branding of the place. You are the meadows, not italian brothers grille. You specialize in frozen treats, not snack food. We have been committed customers for about a year now and we would like to keep it that way.

4 stars because the store is always clean and the service is friendly. Always a good experience. Wish it was«homemade» vs the stuff that comes out of a machine though.
