Specialties
Our social service agency has been enhancing the lives of Yorkers for 25 years, regardless of faith affiliation. We offer many elder care services: geriatric care management, guardianship, older adult programming, Medicare counseling — if you’re 65 or older we’ve got you covered. We can help you plan for your future needs — or your parents’ future needs.
We sponsor the Staying Connected program, which helps older adults remain independent in their homes by providing escorted transportation to health-care appointments and on other necessary errands like grocery shopping.
We also offer parenting courses and coaching; social groups for adults, and many volunteer opportunities for children, teens and adults.
We also house the Project Manna food pantry, and are among the many supporters of Our Daily Bread soup kitchen.
History
Established in 1988.
We grew out of our sister agency, the York Jewish Community Center. We help all Yorkers face life’s challenges, with specialized services in geriatric care management, guardianship, parenting and counseling. In 2002 we brought together two synagogues and four churches to form Staying Connected, outreach program that helps older adults remain independent by providing free escorted transportation to medical appointments, errand-running, friendly visiting, referrals and other services. Volunteers always welcome!
