Cheryl is an extremely professional horsewoman. She teaches all the basics necessary for caring for, and riding a horse. This can be a dangerous sport, if you do not know how to move properly while on the ground, and how to care for the animal. Since she takes the time to do this, anyone who wants to try, should have a safe and enjoyable riding experience.

Having spent thousands of dollars and training hours with other uncertified «instructors», I wanted to see if riding with someone who’d put their skills and knowledge to the test up against a written standard and evaluated by others who had made a difference. I am happy to report it ABSOLUTELY does.
Cheryl wants to make sure her students understand horsemanship, not just sitting on a horse. The first thing I did was review an acknowledgement form and sign it. It was very professional, and appreciated.
I explained that while I had ridden for over roughly 20 years, but I had experienced a nasty fall and it «got between my ears.» Cheryl was remarkably patient. She took nothing for granted in my first ride. She even walked me though how to mount — step-​by-​step, explaining WHY she trained this way. NO OTHER INSTRUCTOR HAD EVER DONE THAT BEFORE WITH ME! Who knew I was using an outdated method that could harm the horse.
During the riding part of my lesson, Cheryl took the time to explain what she was asking me to do, how to do it and let me give it a go. If I had difficulty, she took the time to explain it one more time.
We really need more certified instructors. I wouldn’t dream of letting an unlicensed doctor perform surgery on my person. Heck, I wouldn’t let an unlicensed nail technician paint my nails! Why we allow uncertified «instructors» to put us and children on 1,000 lb animals with highly tuned flight responses, who put safety last, and think less of people who put on a safety helmet no longer makes sense to me nor is it acceptable.
