Zip Cleaning

This is the first time I have ever written a review on Unilocal and I have to say, I am disappointed it is going to be a NEGATIVE ONE. Believe me, it is out of character for me to take the time and energy to do all of this, but I couldn’t stand the fact that this woman, Whitney, is running a highway robbery company. You would think with the prices they charge, the cleaning would be immaculate, or you would least expect for them to do something!
To top it all off, the only reason this company stepped foot into my house, is because my girlfriend works right next to the company’s office and figured it would be convenient and seamless. HA! Far from it.
I have a 750sq foot BRAND NEW apartment with one bathroom and I JUST moved in with my girlfriend about 8 months ago. I wanted a deep cleaning because there was some minor dust, the bathroom cleaned, a 5×7 carpet shampooed, just a really good clean but believe me — no «hard core» wear and tear, no laundry, no dishes, no mold, no grease, no grime anywhere. The job shouldn’t have taken longer than 1hour and a ½ for ONE PROFESSIONAL to do.
When I found out that there were 3 WOMEN in the apartment cleaning and after 1 hour, they supposedly «needed more time» (even though 2 hours for 2 women was agreed upon for $ 180+TAX) Whitney then wanted $ 290 all together, I lost it.
There was NO initial assessment done, which it says they provide, so how can she even give a price without knowing what the job looks like? Whitney charged an obscene amount and wanted to charge an additional $ 90, without even stepping foot in the house!
The appointment was set for 11:30am. Supposedly, there is a 2hr window, what are they Verizon? On the morning of the cleaning, Whitney requested the girls to come significantly earlier, but my gf wasn’t available — BECAUSE THE APPOINTMENT was set for 11:30am. Why even have appointments? This is a SLOPPY operation. To make a long story short, they ended up being an hour late (which was conveniently never relayed to my girlfriend) This caused my girlfriend’s business schedule to suffer. Whitney could have cared less and read off her scripted in genuine apology. She also changed up the amount of women on the job, which resulted in LESS time on the job, but a request for a price increase.
Confused? ME TOO? This is why this is a SCAM! I am so disgusted in the «DEEP CLEANING» that was done. To charge that amount of money for a horrible job is criminal.
The women also BROKE the window screen bracket, left fingerprints on the walls and spots on the floor (HAVE OVER 10 PHOTOS which were sent to Whitney). At no point did she offer to refund the «service.» I put it in quotes because there was barely any services performed, just a $ 200 wipe down and vacuum one area rug (for 2 hours with 3 women in a 750sq ft apartment! — absolutely ridiculous!!)
Correspondence with Whitney consisted of her responses, copied and pasted” from her corporate franchises recommended documents on «how to handle unsatisfied customers.» It was pretty comical.
She did offer to personally come herself and «finish the job.» I told her I refused. Not because I wanted to be difficult, but because why would I want you in my house again? I don’t even wanna think about this nightmare again, let alone relive it. You want me to be happy? Give me my money back.
I’m sure you have gathered from this extensive review, I don’t recommend them.

Zip Cleaning is terrific! They do a fantastic job cleaning and come prepared with everything. I would much rather use zip cleaning than any other on-​demand service any day. Cleaning is cleaning, you can always find a good/​have a bad cleaner, but Zip Cleaning has always consistently done a top notch job.
The main factor that makes Zip Cleaning stand above the rest is the customer service. They are so nice and incredibly easy to work with as well as extremely flexible. My roommates and I have a difficult work schedule to plan around, but Zip Cleaning has been so easy to schedule a cleaning with and a time that works perfectly for our schedule.

The ladies I had were sweet and worked really hard. I liked them a lot and would use them again if needed!

The staff are really friendly and they do a great job for a reasonable amount. I’m particularly fond of the fact that they bring their own supplies as I never keep them on hand. I’m happy and will continue to use them on a regular basis since I can always call the day before for an appointment.

Top Notch! This is the second time I have used Zip Cleaning and the service has been outstanding both times. I quickly made an appointment by calling Whitney and she got me on the schedule right away. Carmen came to my apartment while I was at work and my doorman let her into the apartment. Carmen brought all her own supplies and went above and beyond to make my apartment sparkle. She even loaded and ran my dishwasher! Payment is very convenient via PayPal and price was way lower than competitors. I definitely recommend the Zip Cleaning crew!

Ivelisse and Carmen were fantastic. I was unimpressed with Whitney at first, but she has followed up with me several times and I now understand the challenges that she faced with my cleaning. Since I was unhappy with my experience, Whitney has offered to send Ivelisse and Carmen for a complimentary session, which I thoroughly appreciate. The three stars are for those two girls and for the fact that Whitney made a point to make sure I was happy following a difficult cleaning. Here were the points that made me dock the other stars that Whitney has since tried to repair:
1. I was upset that Whitney sent a girl that does not speak English, when her website says all her girls speak English and she confirmed it on the phone. This is important to me, since I don’t want a language barrier if I have a question regarding a specific room, etc. I have spoken with Whitney thoroughly about this, and she had a last-​minute cancellation and made do with a backup cleaner. She agreed that she should have communicated this to me, and she promised that with future clients she will be true to her mantra and send only English-​speaking girls.
2. They charge by the hour and quoted me 3 hours based on # bedrooms/​bathrooms. They were at my house 7 ½ hours! I have no idea why it took that long, except that the non-​English speaker was not good and the other girls had to re-​do everything she did. It was a little crazy. Whitney only charged me for 5 hours, since there is no reason it should have taken that long, which I appreciate. Given the other very positive reviews here, I think my experience was not common.

I have a 1250 square foot apartment with one bathroom. I paid extra for stove/​refrigerator/​cabinets to be cleaned. After 3 hours the bathroom was completed (which looks fabulous) and the refrigerator was cleaned I received a call from Whitney stating that another hour would be needed and it would cost $ 45. After discussing/​fighting with Whitney (truly she needs to learn not to interrupt when someone else is speaking) it was decided I would not be charged and the kitchen would be finished.
Quite honestly, it’s not so much about the money as the annoyance. It has now been 4 hours and the kitchen isn’t completed and nothing else has been done in the apartment.
I received a text message from Whitney stating, «she won’t be able to finish the cabinets. It’s made for 2 people. There is no way. I am texting because I am at a job site now. I need to stop by on another day because it’s going to take a very long time to completed there are a lot of cabinets as I can see from the picture.»
What was cleaned looks great. However in 4 hours 1 bathroom and the kitchen (minus the cabinets) have been completed.
I grant that there are a lot of cabinets, however, I do not believe that 4 hours worth of work should result in 2 rooms being completed AND wanting to charge me for extra hours. This is not a huge apartment and although the bathroom was not a minimal job (and credit where credit is due, looks great) I am truly disappointed with the VERY incomplete job.

I see my review has gotten a reply from the owner, to that I have to add:
I paid extra for services «which was included in the 2 hours of cleaning.» Really? Seems to me anything that requires extra payment will require extra time.
The 2 extra hours were not, in fact, to clean the abundance of kitchen cabinets as the cabinets were not started let alone finished.
Whitney did offer to come back and I declined as I would have had to take more time to be home for her to come back.
To be clear, what was completed was «great.» However, the only room that got completed was the bathroom. My one bathroom should not have taken 3 hours to clean. Another hour was spent on the kitchen and despite the fact that extra was paid to have the cabinets cleaned they were not.
I understand the owner is not happy with a negative review. No business owner should be. However, I am just trying to give an honest account of what my experience was with Zip cleaning.

Whitney and her staff are fantastic. They were beyond thorough and professional. I really love how she confirms each appointment a day in advance and reviews the home before leaving after each visit to make sure I am happy with the work. This service allows me to get other things done around my house that I rarely have time for, I HIGHLY recommend Zip Cleaning.
Oh and they are also great with animals, we have a large breed dog and they are happy to work around her and deal with her barking.

Very happy I ran into zipcleaning’s ad. Always answers the phone and are extremely polite. Called up and Whitney luckily had an opening the same day. She came over and went straight to work. Always asking exactly how I wanted things done (rather then the usual, where they do as they please and move stuff around, which takes forever to find something). Overall 1 of the best cleaning services I’ve used so far since moving to Westchester. Already worked out a deal to use zip cleaning as my regular service every 2 weeks. And I haven’t even mentioned the pricing. By far most reasonable around. Highly recommend zipcleaning and Whitney especially.
