Manhattan Driving School

Sat for the 5 hour class here. It was alright, I think the guy that usually teaches it is on vacation though. Anyway, after the class I scheduled my first lesson for Tuesday at 6:00. That Tuesday, I never got a confirmation call prior to 6:00. By 6:30, I called the school and asked what happened. They said they’d call the instructor (who I didn’t even find out who it was until that day) and call me back. Never got a call back. Never found out what happened to the instructor of the lesson. Rather than wasting time, I just called another driving school the next day. Great customer service (sarcasm)

Scheduled my road test and an extra driving lesson with this company. Was told I had to sit the 5hr course before I could sit my test. Called on Monday to confirm the course was going ahead today, Wednesday, and was told it was starting at 4p, definitely going ahead. I take the night off work and lose a nights pay, get there at 3:50p to be told it was cancelled. Waste of my time and money. I have cancelled my roast test as I won’t waste my money with them. When I asked why it was cancelled and why someone would confirm to me that it was still going ahead when clearly it wasn’t, the girl in the office just shrugged her shoulders and said «I’m sorry». Not good enough.

Horrible customer service! The instructor was a no show and when I called they said too late and Kevin, the manager was very rude! Extremely poor management!!!

2 Months ago I did not know how to drive at all nor did I intend to have a license this quickly. I am a student who took driving lessons for 2 months with Karen and the 5 hour class with Kevin. Now I have a license and I am able to drive almost anywhere. I purchased the $ 500 driving package which included 9 – 10 lessons, 5 hour class and Drivers test.
Karen worked with my schedule very well and was able to reschedule whenever something came up on my end. She picked me up promptly and dropped me off exactly at 45 minutes. Karen was quick to ask me when I want to take a test and I’m glad she did because everyone else is on a waiting list. Of course, when I wasn’t riding with Karen, I would practice what she instructed me with my mother or boyfriend for the extra practice.
Kevin’s 5 hour class was funny and informational. He made sure the 5 hour class didn’t feel like a 5 hour class. The space was small and there were many students, which might have been a fire hazard. I actually learned a lot in this class and he gave people the opportunity to ask questions which is great.
So Recap: I would def recommend taking driving classes with Karen and would most likely recommend her if somebody asks me where to go. Her car is small and great to start with. She is also very kind to work with and will work with your schedule.

Dont waste your time or money on this driving school. I was a nervous wreck when i started and the driving instructor took advantage of that and would waste our 45 minute driving class on taking breaks and having flirtatious conversations. I felt extremely uncomfortable that i didnt even finish my package. Kevin the instructor was who i had and hes a horrible instructor and doesn’t teach much! Save ur money go somewhere else.

STAY AWAY FROM KEVIN… HORRIBLE SERVICE. I wouldn t even give them a single star if I could manage it. I just needed a few lessons to brush up my skill and was stupid enough to purchase 10 driving sessions in advance. Kevin, my instructor, took full advantage of that and kept cancelling appointments on me. When he did manage to show up for the session, all he wanted to do was engage in stupid flirtatious chat while driving. He didn t teach much and kept stepping on the brake and putting his hand on the steering wheel instead of telling me what to do. Unilocal did the right thing by filtering out their so called «positive» reviews. Why, one of the reviewers here is none other than Kevin himself (Kishore K). He wrote a fake review for his own company. HIGHLY DISHONEST…

If you are going for the five hour pre-​licensing course, good. But BEWARE. They will offer to schedule a test for you but will *not* tell you there is a fee for it until days before the test. They will also schedule you for a warm-​up session, which sounds nice, but if unneeded, they will cancel that and your road test. This made me feel they kept my road test time ransom. Granted, there was an offer to call and help set an appointment, unfortunately I never got that call. It was only when I returned a call of confirmation and asked that they stated a fee. Again: BEWARE. You will be roped into paying for a service you did not ask for if all you need is the five hour course!
What’s also of mention is that — unlike other stated reviews — they neither offered to pick me up nor asked if I had a car. All that was stated was «you will meet us at the school at 1:30.»
Final word? Five hour course? Good. If that’s all you want, state so very clearly.

When I first started driving I was a nervous driver who didn’t have a proper technique on driving. I attempted to have my mother teach me but that didn’t go over so well. It was more along the lines of «OMG! You are going to give me a second heart attack!!» I figured I needed some professional help but didn’t know where to turn. My son’s grandmother highly recommended Kevin and his school so I said why not.
With Kevin’s help, I was able to feel more comfortable behind the wheel. One of the best things about this school is their pricing and availability. Kevin is always available for lessons at pretty much all hours of the day/​night. His car is small sedan that allows you to overcome any apprehension about driving. He picks you up wherever you live or work at the time you are available. You don’t have to go crazy trying to meet up with him. He is extremely patient, professional and knowledgeable about the rules of the road test. He is very good at telling you how to correct your mistakes without making you feel like a complete idiot. One of the best things he teaches is how to get over the dreaded parallel parking. He gives you a three step no fail system which has literally worked for me regardless of the type of vehicle I was driving. He is very experienced and conducts lessons in Florida and New York. He is also available for your 5 hour class, road test and beyond. For your road test, he schedules it (when you’re available) and picks you up for a refresher lesson prior to your appointment.
I have learned how to drive on small residential streets, on congested highways and at night during various weather conditions. There are many schools who just take your money but you never truly learn the rules of the road or how to properly handle certain situations. With Kevin, it doesn’t feel like he is doing this for the money or that you are just a number. The great thing is he starts you off at YOUR level of driving and you progress from there. I am extremely proud to say that I am a more educated and experienced driver because of him.
