How Sweet It Is

Aurea, is very customer friendly. She welcomes everyone into her store with a smile. Mclean Ave. needed a store like this. I tasted one of her cupcakes for the first time and it was good.

I just happen to walk by and saw this little gem. I could not resist. It’s like a Willy Wonka shop in Yonkers. A galore of chocolate decadence and candies everywhere. To top it off, the cupcakes. So good. I wish I could show what I had but I ate it. Definitely will be back especially for the blue velvet cupcake.

The lady that works here is so sweet and patient. She is always pleasant to talk too. Lots of interesting candy in the store. Very nicely decorated and displayed. The cupcakes were also good.

Wow wow AND Amazing I went to grab a slice a pizza and I peeped the sign so I crossed the street and opened the gates to heaven I got greeted with a smile and I left with a grin from ear to ear ohhhhh cup cakes a perfect 10 and waiting on my chocolate covered strawberries for Xmas eve… would I recommend this place. Ummmm Yeah!!! Wait Hell Yeah NoW GOoO !!

My lil. Sis found this location. We went there to purchase cupcakes for a birthday party and and ended up placing orders for thanksgiving as well. The customer service here is great. Everyone is very friendly.

An amazing find. It’s not just a candy store but a one stop shop for parties, holidays or any event. They have cup cakes that are to die for. I went on for bag of melting milk chocolate and walked out with a try of cupcakes! The service is personal and attentive! I will be going back!!!

What a great place! I am so happy I decided to check this place out. The owner is so awesomely welcoming and friendly. Not only does she have candy, she does cakes and cupcakes as well! By the way, she does blue velvet cakes and cupcakes. This place is the first that I have known to make blue velvet. Definitely going back!

Today was my first time there, and the owner, Aurea was very friendly and attentive! She had so many sweets to choose from, and the décor was great. The chocolate strawberries were delicious, and the key lime cupcake was heaven! I also tried the white chocolate Oreos and truffles… YUM! Can’t wait to go back :)

Amazing cupcakes, all my favorite candies from my childhood and great customer service. How can you go wrong with that?

This candy shop looked so affordable that I just had to check it out. I bought a rainbow Italian ice. It was $ 2 for a small. It was very sweet and very refreshing in the summer heat. The woman working behind the counter was really nice as well. There were lots of other interesting candies in the store, although I didn’t buy any.

For the to the point people, the cupcakes are great and the treats and candies look good :-)
Today I discovered «How Sweet It Is», (in a Columbussy discovery kinda way :-). I happen across the interweb in search of something sweet and as if being beckoned by the Angel of confectionerys herself (counter person :-) via Unilocal (I’m new to area) I was brought to a wonderland of confectionery delights and wonder, I expected a golden ticket of sorts was necessary for entry, candy candy candy so much rich and meaningful Candy, everything that should have been in that time capsule saved in 1986 until I was old enough to buy my own darn CANDY lol, my only delimma was where do I start?, (so they would stop winking at me and playing «BEN”-MJ :-) I purchased 4 cupcakes, plus a Blue Velvet cupcake (currently in the cupcake protection program, we’ll call it Sam :-) I tried the Strawberry Cheesecake cupcake (pic taken before the happening :-) it was absolutely perfect, fresh, moist, rightfully sweetened and crafted with real strawberry tartish filling… mmmmm.
I’m unplugging the phone so the governor can’t save the others at midnight with a stay of consumption. I’ll also update with status on The Oreo, Brownie and Hostess cupcake experiences as they become available.
P. S. Look out for her (ConfectionAngel) Italian Ices, I hear they’re great.

Best cupcakes in Yonkers! They never disappoint! Cupcakes are moist and full of flavor. Oreo and red velvet are favorites. But that Blue Velvet is the BEST! Also a great place to get Valentine candy. Owners/​bakers are always pleasant. They stayed and kept place open late because I was running late from work on V-​day! Left savers!

The Blue Velvet Cupcake is heavenly! The cake is light and fluffy. The frosting is delicious. Decoration is pretty. I will definitely come back for this…

Been inside a few times, and if I could describe it in one word that word would be refreshing. Outlook of the shop simply pops with a vivid aura as everything surrounding it is simply mundane. Is another bar really necessary? Candies here, cupcakes there, and nostalgia everywhere. I noticed a small banner showing puppet shows occur here. It’s not often you find a fun creative little mixture in a candy store these days. There’s a room in the back held for parties. Basic, but very clean and well kept despite how rambunctious the little ones can be. Lastly, and I cannot stress the importance of it, but the service/​owner is extremely helpful. Not to mention her personality personifies the opulence of the store.

Agreed — a great addition to McLean Ave. I’ve been in twice and each time the person behind the counter was really friendly. The assorted malt balls are delish & everything looks great.
There is a room in the back for birthday parties, etc. and on the wall are different molds for creating personalized chocolate pops and such.
A woman in one of my night classes (
) says she does a puppet show there once a month but I haven’t been able to find the schedule for that.
Anyways, I’ll definitely be back when my sweet tooth strikes!

A wonderful addition to the Woodlawn area… which pretty much had up to this point a bakery, a florist, a couple of deli’s, and 487 bars. Well now it has a candy and cupcake store. I still have a sweet tooth so I’m down for some nostalgia candy or chocolate-​covered potato chips (which kick ass here). I’m not a big cupcake guy, but the selection is impressive, and I do like the version of hostess cupcakes they have. Décor is very cool, very old-​timey with a lot of personality and the owner is very nice.
