People who work in Princeton store think they are so wonderful and superior because they work in Princeton. Bet if they checked their own IQ’s they would realize they aren’t Princeton material at all! Service is awful. I have been going here for the past several years basically because I like their meat. Now the meat is not what it used to be. It has gone down-hill. Used to ask for thin chicken cutlets and get them. Now they are thick and awful. Prepared food aren’t anything to write home about. Their little salad/lunch and breakfast bar have food I wouldn’t give the dog. It’s mighty awful. Only think I can say that is positive about this place is that the cashiers(Most of them) are extremely nice. Thanks Betty, Amber and Melissa for being courteous cashiers. Doing much better now shopping at Whole Foods. At least the people care and are helpful! Some of the managers in Princeton need to take a course in manners!(Except for Mark)

McCaffrey’s is my favorite supermarket in the area. I live north of Trenton and drive down just because they’re that good. I can get locally grown salad greens from Bright Farms. I can get organic milk in glass bottles that I can return to get money back. It’s locally owned, and employees local kids for work experience. I want to support my community, and putting my money into the community does that. McCaffrey’s also has pasture-raised meats and even bacon!

I feel like I should love McCaffrey’s. On the plus side, they have a lot of what I look for in a mainstream supermarket, plus a very handy hot food bar which I tend to use when I don’t have enough time to make dinner. However, they are just crazy expensive. You can even get better deals on staples at Whole Foods which says a lot. Also, their selection of organic foods is really lacking, especially in the fresh produce section. They have some stuff here and there, just not enough in my opinion. In a pinch they’re great, but when I have the time, I feel like my money is better spent at Wegman’s or Whole Foods.

You’ve got to try McCaffrey’s Seafood Platter, I think available at all their stores and for sure on catering orders. Lobster tails(removed and sitting on shell), crab and shrimp. All as fresh as it gets and absolutely the best you could find. Although my wife does the food shopping I enjoy browsing the bakery and prepared foods section. All the staff is eager to help in anyway and answer all your questions. I actually thought I came up with the phrase«Shopping at McCaffrey’s is an Experience» …until I noticed it on a sign on the side of their market.

Extremely disappointed in the catering service from McCaffrey’s — be aware before you order online. I used the online ordering through their website, placed a catering order for my daughter’s birthday party, received a confirmation email and the next day my credit card was charged. When I arrived a week later to pick up my catering order it was not made. The staff claimed they had never received my order, and that the online ordering system doesn’t always work. I showed them my confirmation email and my credit card statement, and they still asked me a million questions«Did someone else pick it up?», «Are you sure you ordered it from McCaffrey’s», etc. When I was leaving another employee told me that they are just so busy it probably got lost. The next day I sent an email to the company explaining my situation and how unhappy I was that my order wasn’t made and the way I was treated. I was told I would receive a response in 72 hours. It’s been a week and I have yet to receive a response. Lesson learned… will not be using their catering ever again!

I am a fan, this place is a local institution… the prices are high but the quality and service are very good. Awesome sushi too. I wish the aisles were wider.

Beautiful supermarket but beauty isn’t free. Everything is more expensive here. They do have a great hot food bar. Their deli has a great system for slicing meats exactly how you want them when you order and how they pack them is perfect. Their Jewish food area is great. Good whitefish salad and RJs bagels. If you need a hard to find item it’s probably here, but again, loosen your purse strings!

Great Service 100% of the time. While they might not be the cheapest, their service is worth it. Plus they have a State Store inside. They really treat you like family. They are also very good to the local community.

Small aisles. Expensive. Not a large selection. However, if you are looking for a rare ingredient, cheese, meat, etc… This is your place. Friendly managers who are caring and helpful.

Too overpriced. Basically this is a step above Acme. Acme is cheaper than here and thats saying a lot. I gave em 2 stars because I do like their deli section though.

This very good supermarket in Lower Makefield lies in the supermarket hiearchy immediately above the band containing Giant, Acme, Superfresh, Genuardis and Stop and Shop but below the premium top line of Whole Foods, Wegmans and Whole Earth(all in the Princeton and Philadelphia areas). So if you live in the Yardley/Makefields area and you dont want to drive 20 minutes for your groceries, this is as good as it gets. The poultry and meat sections contain organic and minimally process selections. The fish counter offerings are clearly labeled and almost always have wild-caught options. The bakery is good and usually has samples for the kids(and adults). If you are watching your budget, you can do what many people do(myself included): go to the Giant in the next-door lot for the packaged, non-perishable items and then go to Mccaffrey’s for the meat, fish, produce and items you cant get at Giant(such as specialty condiments). Unlike most other grocery stores, this store’s hot bar and salad bar are very good. The lunch room upstairs has plenty of tables and overlooks the store. My few gripes: 1. The produce guys act like undertakers and seem unaware that putting multiple stocking carts in the narrow produce aisles is a HUGE&^*@ing obstacle for us shoppers. I especially hate it when they have one barge in front of the parsely/lettuce section and another by the avocados/garlic area, which makes getting something from the area in between impossible. 2. The dimwit and preppy teens who work here are the worst baggers and tellers. The alterna-teens who work at Giant are much better(but still cannot bag well) There are errors on about 25% of my checkouts. 3. Why oh why did they change the bakery bread selections? And why cant they ever stock a good, crusty, large semolina flatloaf?

I don’t get it. I would rather drive 15 minutes to NJ and spend my hard earned money at Whole Foods or Wegmans in Princeton. McCaffrey’s has what I consider a small selection of gourmet items but nothing worth the price tag it costs to shop there. The store itself, needs a facelitft. It is strange because the front of store(where you enter) looks nice(like a Kings Market in NJ) but the rest of the store is unattractive and dated. The most bizarre part of the whole shopping experience is the crowd. There were a few affluent older woman there who apparently didn’t feel as though they needed to be considerate of other shoppers. I don’t get it. Because they are paying more for their groceries entitles them to be rude? I literally had an older woman push her shopping cart right into my hip, look at me and then say«Well, are you going to move your cart?» You are in a grocery store for christ’s sake not the red carpet honey.

Yah, I am a fan. It is pricey, but I do not use it for my everyday shopping. It is a specialty food market where you can find items that are not in your local grocery store. Like goose liver pâté’ or chipolte & adobo sauce or very special crackers and breads for special occasions. Fresh smoked white fish and eel can be purchased, as well as large deboned whole fish. For the convenience, while I am there and in a hurry, it is nice to have a large selection of typical items found in your regular market, so you aren’t running here, there and everywhere. Plus, when you sign up for your McCaffrey’s card(just a store discount card) you will get a monthly to semi-monthly mailing for discounts on your entire shopping trips. 7% and up! I love McCaffrey’s and I am happy they are there!
