Delicious food. Had their spicy soup. Warning, it is spicy. Scale of 1 – 10 it’s a 7. You still taste the food but it will make you sweat. Your lips will be firey. You won’t burn your throat. Very nice people. Clean. Fairly quick service.

I’m so happy to have discovered this place! Today was my second trip and again, I left happy & satisfied. The staff is always so friendly, the place is never crowded(surprisingly enough). The food is outstanding and pretty authentic for Yakima. I’ve had the Pork Bulgogi, and the beef. The pork is much spicier and is my favorite thus far. The steamed dumplings are good as well. The establishment is also clean and very well kept. I highly recommend going between 11 – 3 for their lunch specials.

Went in for lunch the other day. Ordered fried rice. Didnt seem fried at all, just white rice with what looked like grocery store frozen bag peas, carrot and green beans with a tad of chicken. very plain. Isnt fried rice supposed to be kinda fried?

Very good! My family and I frequent this place often. I usually order the spicy pork bolgogi. Family owned and operated. If your not careful you’ll pass right by it. Check this place out!

I tried this place today with my wife. We order the beef bulgogi and the kalbi. The service was fast, the portions abundant and the food quality excellent. The place itself it’s nice, good décor and ambiance. This is a nice finding in Yakima for those who like to try ethnic foods.

We tried Joy Garden for the first time tonight. Very friendly and welcoming staff. I ordered the Chicken Bulgogi and it was great. No heavy overpowering sauce, just the right amount to compliment the flavors of the meat and vegetables. All the veggies were fresh and were at that perfect point where they were still a bit crisp. Will definitely be going back to try the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap!

I have no idea why I gave this restaurant 3-stars a few years ago. Hubby and I came here for lunch the other day and I’m still thinking about it! Chicken Stir Fry and Beef Bulgogi were delicious, had lots of veggies and meat and plenty of flavor. We couldn’t stop eating and was sad that there were no leftovers to take home.

Last time I was in I had the pork Bulgogi, and it was amazing. For the low amount I paid I actually got a lot of food. I highly recommend joy gardens for anyone looking for good Korean food.

Very nice surprise in Yakima — some darn good Korean food. We had beef bulgogi, some kind of fried noodle dish(a bit like yakisoba) that my daughter said was the bomb, and bibimbap that my wife proclaimed extremely delicious. Make the drive away from the highway and mall area to this hidden gem — it is well worth it!

Joy Garden brings various authentic Korean foods in Yakima area. I was pleasantly surprised by variety Korean dishes Joy Garden offers to locals. Their interior and exterior décor are not appealing much for customers(particularly who wants to dine in a nice ambiance restaurant for a quiet and fancy dinner): however they dishes are surprisingly tasty(knowing that not many Koreans live in Yakima and the owner of the restaurant still somewhat reasonably keeps the Authentic Korean flavor in some dishes). * Service: Average * Price: Average(however, in Yakima area, It is very fair, considering all the authentic Korean ingredients are shipped/delivered from outside of Yakima) * Atmosphere: Below average(not sure what I should say about their interior) * Food Quality: Slightly above average for a few dishes and some of them are slightly below * Parking: Limited Parking space in front of the store(free of charge), you might find more parking lot side of the restaurant * Avoid factor: If you haven’t experienced Korean spicy dishes, please be sure to ask for tasting their hot sauce. They have open kitchen that you can see. So food smell might get into your clothes(particularly for Korean BBQ). * Recommendation: Korean BBQ, Spicy Pork bulgogi(), and

My boyfriend and I were traveling and craving Korean food and were pleasantly surprised to find a gem in Yakima, WA. The service is great, and although it won’t be the same as Korean food in LA or Korea, it got the job done. It was overall just a good dinner, and although we won’t be back in the area too often, if we’re ever back in town, we will definitely make a stop at Joy Garden! :)

Excellent Korean BBQ. Ordered the rib and a noodle dish — both were great. Service was good, and the food came fast. A great spot — especially for lunch.

By Yakima standards, Monkey suppose this place would stand out. Monkey knows the difference between Authentic and Teriyaki. This place err… well, not so much. We were hopeful, but Joy Garden pretty much turned out to be what we’d expect out of Yakima. Monkey do: SEAFOODPANCAKE — salty and the jalapenos do not belong there BULGOGI — spicy and by far most flavorful of the three BIBIMBAP — came out hot, but not hot enough to toast the rice at the bottom, somehow tasted funny without its sauce… added more sauce, still tasted funny. CORNTEA — the hot tea is always the complement of any Korean restaurant. This was definitely different and the only thing Monkey liked. Service was prompt and helpful. Restaurant is clean, limited parking out front. 2 Stars because it wasn’t terrible and we did not get sick. Monkey ate the food, but please Yakima, stop abusing the word«authentic.»

Came and had the bibimbap for lunch. First Korean I’ve had since I moved to Yakima. It definitely hit the spot. I will be back again and again. Glad to have a little variety out here.

I’m korean and this food is just okay. I gave them a few tries and I felt like each time the quality got worse. Really for their own sake, I hope they improve, otherwise they will just become another mediocre«asian» restaurant serving a mix of teriyaki with some korean food. I think this town has enough of those already. Not to just be mean, but the service was great and the owners are very nice. Let’s hope they step up their game so that they can give a good representation of what Korean food really is. Also a side note. This isn’t real korean BBQ. They serve a few meat dishes but it’s a far cry from the BBQ experience. If you have a chance, go check out old korean village rest. in seattle for BBQ. You will see the difference.

Their beef bulgogi is mouth-wateringly delicious! It comes out sizzling hot(literally) with rice. The meal also comes with 3 sides: kimchee, some type of white thing the owner makes herself, and cucumbers. I can’t handle spicy foods so I only took a bite of each, but they seemed good. The owner was very nice and friendly and came over to chat with us about the restaurant and our food. The service was also good. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be going back for more bulgogi. FYI– I’m really sensitive to spicy foods and the beef bulgogi wasn’t spicy at all. However, my boyfriend got the pork bulgogi and it was pretty hot. The sides were quite spicy as well. The menu doesn’t say which foods are spicy and which aren’t, so if you’re sensitive you may want to ask before you order.

What a find – especially for Yakima! I only come up to this part of the country once a year at Christmas to visit my family and was lucky that my sister had heard about this recently opened Korean restaurant up on Tieton Dr. in Yakima. It’s great to see that there are now good options for ethnic cuisine(Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, and now Korean), which were non-existent when I grew up there in the 1980s-1990s. The menu had a good variety of classic Korean dishes, including bulgogi and bibimbap. The portions are large, fairly priced, and of high quality. Fresh shitake mushrooms, pickled daikon, well-spiced kimchee, and roasted barley tea – the flavors are authentic and the chef takes no shortcuts. The owners are a friendly couple who relocated to Yakima from the Washington, D.C. area. Both stopped by our table to personally ensure that we were enjoying our meals. I wish I had more time to go back and sample some of the other menu options. Don’t miss this place!
