History

Established in 1983.

The Kitchen Place was founded in 1983 by Alec and Betty Osvath. Alec began his career designing kitchens in the early ‘70s for PK Lumber in downtown Dayton and, later, Better Kitchen Supply and Southern Ohio Kitchens. Betty started out in 1980 designing for BKS’s small cabinet outlet shop on old US 35, east of Xenia.

The couple always had a dream of opening their own dealership and in 1983 they accomplished this, opening The Kitchen Place. Their first year was a success and they added additional lines of cabinetry. In 1984 their daughters, Karla and Kelly, joined the company part-time while attending Wright State University. Tom Detty joined the team in 1986.

Kelly Osvath-Zamonski and Tom Detty became the owners in 2000 and continue today to offer design, installation, and materials at prices designed to fit any budget.

Business Owner

Kelly earned her degree in commercial art technology at Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio. She has been a kitchen designer since 1989. When she began her career in the kitchen design industry, she used paper and a pencil to render her 3D perspective designs for clients. Once computers became the norm, Kelly transitioned into sales.

Kelly’s designs have been featured in House Trends magazine and Signature Kitchens and Baths magazine numerous times. Her specialty is vintage kitchen design: giving kitchens an authentic vintage look but with modern features.
