Think again about getting your dog groomed here. We had our Malamute groomed here months ago at a fairly reasonable price and they shaved her back end and now, with Winter halfway through it still looks terrible and ²⁄₃ of her tail was removed and hasn’t grown back. Since I am disabled I had my friend take her and pick her up. It’s a good thing I wasn’t there when she was finished or I would have raised the roof.

This store has a great selection, and competitive prices for some items, but man does this location need a makeover! It stinks, the tiles are broken and the lighting is just awful. Petco corporate, please get this store a refresh!

After reading the reviews I wanted to use the grooming service more than once before reviewing. Today was my second visit and I was pleased once again. My dog looked great, she even had little bows in her hair! I had an appointment scheduled for two o clock and they were able to accommodate my request for an earlier appointment. They normally book a few days ahead so I was happy to catch a cancellation. So far I have had Adam and Alexandria and was pleased so I don’t feel the need to request a specific person.

My wife made an appointment to get the dog groomed here, she said she couldn’t drop the dog off at 9, and wanted 9:30. The groomer said that was fine, just drop the dog off anytime between 9 and 9:30. I get there right before 9:30, and they tell me that I missed the appointment and they can’t groom the dog. The service they gave the dog in the past was not even that good to begin with. It has always been hit or miss, with mostly misses. This was the last straw. We will never go back here.

Do not use their grooming services! I took my dog there to be groomed. He had a beautiful long coat with a few snarled spots. I didn’t want him to get too bad so I thought if I got him groomed it would help me keep it under control. Yes, he wasn’t perfectly brushed but he definitely was not badly matted. They shaved him! And, not only did they shave him, but they couldn’t even do it evenly! And, does it really take four hours to shave a dog? All I could say when I picked him up was «you’ve got to be kidding me». I almost went to the manager and asked for my money back but I thought it would be better to warn others in a Unilocal review. My son, who used to shave his friends heads for $ 15 would have done a better job.

I feel sorry for anyone working as a groomer at this store. As a customer, the service, scheduling, timing and pricing were all huge issues that need major attention. All these things are dictated by a corporate system that completely ignores the fact that service involves human beings and their beloved pets. My scheduled appointment: noon, was not finished when I was told to pick up the dog. I went shopping 2 hrs, came back, still not even started. Repeat this again and finally my dog was done at 6:45. I had never imagined I’d be unable to make it to my evening plans because of a haircut at noon!

These people give me the runaround about cutting my cat’s nails every month. Sometimes they have a guy to cut them; sometimes they have a plan to train someone; but most frequently, they have no one and no plan to change that.
That said, when there is a guy to cut her nails, he does an awesome job! And the price is great! The rest of the staff is super-​friendly and helpful (asked me if I needed help to my car), and the store is well-​stocked.
Despite those good things, I just can’t depend on them any more, and I’m sorry to say that I won’t be going back.

It’s hit or miss here. Sometimes the employees are really friendly, sometimes they’re not very nice. I come here because the store is large which usually means they will have what I’m looking for. Plus, they’re dog friendly… Imagine that, a pet friendly pet store… Surprisingly rare…
I was also impressed with some of their supplies like the posturpedic dog beds or wide selection of dog and cat food.
But why don’t they carry crazy dog shampoo anymore?! The petco shampoo is pretty good though… My guy definitely gets clean from it.

Don’t go here for grooming. This Petco used to be fine, they had good hours (Open until 7pm on weekdays) and the groomers were very nice and efficient.
I physically came to the store yesterday to make sure my dog’s paperwork was current and make sure I could bring him in today before 7pm to just get his nails cut. At 5pm (two hours before the grooming center closes) I walked in, only to be told by an employee that all the groomers were gone for the day. The manager then came in and said everyone quit a few months ago so the grooming center hours are not what the sign says. He then told me I should have made an appointment to ensure that groomers would actually be there. …What was I doing in the store, yesterday, making an appointment for then?
Don’t go here, very unprofessional.

Based on variety and selection this is an A-​OK store. They don’t carry the raw food I feed my dog but I am able to get his natural lamb treats, toys, and grooming care products and he has a great time looking at the little birds and rodents they have in the store :)

I have been looking for a certain leash (one with two handles on a four foot lead) for a very long time. I have looked everywhere including the place where I bought the one I currently own and on-​line. This Petco had the leash! So, I have to give it 4 star rating for having a good selection — or at least the selection I needed. However, I have been to a number of Petcos, and this seemed right in line with the rest of them. It’s prices are ok, its selection is ok, but the staff seemed unfamiliar with the products and unhelpful in general. I had to ask three people about the leash before one of them was able or willing to help me find the one I needed. Of course, by then, I wanted to hug the guy because, as I mentioned, I have looked for this leash for a very long time. All in all, a good selection, but don’t expect the same personal service you might find elsewhere.
One other thing that you might like: Petco has a rewards program, so you can save money by joining. It’s worth taking a few minutes to sign up for it, and the teller was terrific to tell me about it.

I called this Petco’s grooming salon to inquire as to how much it would cost for my Smooth Fox Terrier to be bathed, and I was told that a bath, dry, nail clipping, and ear cleaning would cost about $ 32.00. Although I told them he didn’t need anything but a bath, they said that it is a package deal. A few days later, I called and made him an appointment.
When I dropped off my dog to be bathed, the employee told me that he could, indeed, just have a bath. I figured a simple bath and dry would cost less than the «package deal.» Imagine my surprise when I was charged $ 41.00 for the bath (which is, by the way, more than I pay to get my hair cut at an upscale spa)! I asked why the cost was so high and whether this was because they had my dog listed as a Wire Fox Terrier on the form instead of a Smooth Fox Terrier, as Smooth Fox Terriers have significantly less hair. I was told that there was nothing they could do because they don’t have Smooth Fox Terrier as a breed option in their computer system. The employee did not apologize, and did not seem to care that I was unhappy. I will never use their grooming salon again, as it is a massive rip-​off!
Moreover, it just didn’t seem like the employees at the grooming salon liked dogs all that much. I don’t even think the employees greeted my dog when I dropped him off. He was clean when I picked him up, but that was the only positive thing about this experience.

We’ve used Petco to groom our Cavachon Lucy for several years now and they’re consistent and reliable. Easy to schedule appointments.

We were very excited when this Petco came to Wynnewood and had grooming services since my brother has a Lhasa Apso. The first appointment was a bust because the groomer had had an accident so when my brother showed up he was told no one could groom the dog. Slightly annoyed that no one called him he asked if anyone else could squeeze the dog in. The woman copped an attitude, held up a bloody hand and exclaimed that she was injured — as if my brother was the biggest idiot in the world — so he just left. I went in another day to try to reschedule an appointment for him. I stood there as a woman looked at the computer and gave me a date and time. He returned on the day I was told to come back and apparently this appointment was not in the system. Since I personally went in and made the appointment on the premises, I found this totally unbelievable. Again he was told a groomer was sick or injured and no one could do it. At this point he just found another place to go. I’m not sure if the grooming is under the same management as the store but I would highly discourage anyone from going here for dog grooming!

Not wanting to pay the toll to exchange the cat food we purchased in Cherry Hill, we decided to give this place another go. Plus we needed to stop by Trader Joe’s, which is right around the corner.
They let us exchange our bag of Nutro for Wellness even though we did not have a receipt. Absolutely no run around or bullshit. Isn’t it sad that I automatically expect bad customer service?
Still small with limited selection, though.
Also, Arm & Hammer cat litter usually costs less at Wegman’s and Target, just so you know.

It’s that time again. Bath time for our dog. Since this is a fairly regular occurence in our household, my husband and I have been looking for something convenient.
We recently went to Petco in Wynnewood to use their self wash. The facilities are no frills but get the job done (large stainless steel tub, dog ramp to get in tub, shampoo and tearless facewash, towels and high powered dryer). The cost is only $ 10 per wash (the cheapest we’ve found) with no set time limit. The best part is, if you are frequent washers like us, Petco offers buy 8 get 1 free.
The same facilities are also offered at the Petco in Cherry Hill. The only difference is Wynnewood requires a reservation while Cherry Hill is first come first serve (but you can call ahead to see if there is a wait).
Despite the toll, I’ll probably head to CH next bath time because the drive to Wynnewood from CC is longer and less than scenic. I would recommend either Petco for self wash though and you can pick up some treats too while you’re there!
