Hi. I’m Ilene Steinberg and I founded the Center for Lice Control. I’m a lice expert. No, I didn’t major in «Liceology» in college and I wasn’t always into bugs. I was working as a professional baker and mom to four when lice literally leaped into my life. Romantic, huh? It was 2007 and I was working as a Supervisor at an overnight camp in rural Pennsylvania. I’d planned for sunshine and BBQs but the camp owner had other plans for me. She had me tackle the camp’s pesticide — resistant lice outbreak and I learned firsthand that there was a need for a new way to defeat lice. When summer ended I returned home victorious and word spread. There was a lice guru in town who knew how to decisively defeat lice. Families started calling me. Doctors started calling me. Schools and camps started calling me. And I realized, that the best way I could help other families was by helping them safely defeat lice. I started my own lice removal service in Philadelphia and have treated over 10,000 people.
