Very very economical! Good food! Decent coffee. Only thing is service is little slow right now. But hopefully more staffing will solve that problem

Horrible, horrible, horrible. My family and l just left about an hour ago and received some of the worst service we’ve ever experienced. Not from the waiter, but from the owner Sam. The cooks completely messed up or orders, the pancakes weren’t cooked all the way, chicken was burnt, cheese omlette had no cheese, and the food that was cooked right was just disgusting. When Sam came over after a family member got a half of strawberry for topping for 3 pancakes, he stated that there was one more underneath another pancake and actually put his hands between the pancakes to show us. After we sat there in shock and disgust, after seeing his hands were clearly dirty, he told my family member that he didn’t do it(after seeing the pancakes lift up and move), touched the pancakes again, and told us that he didn’t have to deal with us, and twisted his hands several times stating here in Philly a clear«F*#k you.» Then after my family member shouted they were not paying for the meal or bad service, he told us we were gonna pay. We asked for the bill fearing the very nice waitress would be forced to pay for it, but this is an experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. After speaking to a few of the waiters there, we found out he even treated them like crap too. By the way, I find it funny how«Andy’s diner» showed up on my card instead of «Sam’s diner.» Looks like these people still own this place. Please don’t support this diner, its a disgrace to the community.

What a great find! This place used to be the Old Country Buffet and then it was Andy’s Diner for a while, which I never went to, but heard bad things about. Sam’s, though, was great! I was here twice in one week. First for a really late night dinner and then for a dinner at a normal time. Both times were great, but the second one was terrific! Wonderful soup and salad bar, and the fish and chips was delicious!

My family and friends — a group of at least 25 people — went there after my daughter’s First Holy Communion. Everyone had a great time. There was plenty of bacon, sausage, turkey bacon, pancakes, waffles, grits, oatmeal, and they made your eggs anyway you wanted-omlet. Our waitress Barbara was great. We bought a cake from Night Kitchen. They provided us with clean plates and forks. They even served us water — without asking. We sat there for at least a half a hour afterwards talking and relaxing. The prices were very reasonable. There wasn’t a large selection of fruit, but everything they had was hot and good. The manager even came over to check on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. I will definitely be returning. Sue Ann

We decided to knock out brunch here yesterday, a Saturday, and what a dumb idea that turned out to be. Although they were also serving a full menu, we had to pay in advance for the all-you-can-eat brunch(that should have been our first clue), which was $ 9.99 including food and standard beverages. And in all fairness, they do call it «breakfast» and not«brunch», which even in hindsight does not compensate for the sad, sad lack of options, specifically: two types of bacon, three types of dried out sausage, two types of tasteless potato, cream of wheat, something that looked like very runny chipped beef, another something that tasted like mediocre kugel, edible waffles, hard-as-rocks mini pancakes, and cakey cornbread. The omelet station was middling at best, least of all due to the chef’s not-so-secret recipe, which appeared to involve using equal parts oil and egg. No fruit. No salad. No vegetables whatsoever outside of an omelet. Dirty, used plates mixed in with food encrusted and purportedly clean ones. Slow as bricks servers forgot to bring us straws and forks and never came by for refills unless we flagged them down. For all that, only the bacon was any good. My partner’s lemonade was nice. My coffee was watery. I noticed on the way out that they also have some kind of $ 1.99 breakfast deal, which had I known about we definitely would have gotten instead, but there’s no way we’re going back after that, probably not even for lunch. Hopefully someone puts this place out of its misery soon.

Now trading under a new name, it is just as bad or worse than it’s predecessor(Andy’s). The service is abominable(3 visits). The final blow came after waiting more than 10 minutes at the table, to be told that if I chose the breakfast buffet, I would have to pay in advance. This place is more like a Gas Station Mini Mart, which is the only other place that has a similar policy. I will never go back, nor do I recommend.
