Rusty Wallace Racing Experience

I have question, can someone tell me about this place place, if Someone wants to drive can that person do it or just watching people racing?

Finally got to race with rusty at South Sound Speedway in Rochester, Wa. Only negative was the registration line which took almost 20 minutes to get to the front.
After a 45 minute discussion about the cars and the track. I put on my racing gear (I brought my own). and headed over to the cars. The cars here were Late Models, which are somewhat different than cup cars but still fast. The cars were being used hourly so it was amazing that they were in pretty good shape. The only appearance of heavy useage was the steering wheel on my car was somewhat ragged. I got on the track and passed everyone. I wasn’t afraid to floor it in the straights and I suspect this is the only place you can do this without buying your own car. Wish it could have lasted longer! LOL Great time!

The four minutes I spent doing my ride-​along were awesome. But that’s all it was – 4 minutes for $ 129.
Anyway, while the ride was awesome, I have to say – the people working with this company are some of the most incompetent people I’ve ever encountered.
I had to call to book a reservation, and when I asked the rep which courses were closest to me in southern California, her response was «I don’t know where southern California is, since I live in Rhode Island.» Seriously??? Anyway, I booked Fontana about a month in advance – note that there are only certain weekends for the tracks, so it takes some advanced planning.
I had 2 gift certificates, each for $ 400. I booked 2 ride-​alongs ($ 129/​ea) and a video ($ 39), and then a drive ($ 399) and a video ($ 59). This all came to under $ 800, yet instead of using the balance from the first gift card to pay any remaining balance for the second experience, she charged my credit card. When I pointed out that there was a sufficient balance ($ 100), she said she would void my credit card charge. Sadly, I believed her. So, now I am out $ 100 in a gift card and $ 60 from her charging me for a video rather than using the gift card. HUMPH. It was never refunded. and the void never went through.
I mentioned this to the workers at the desk the day of my race and of course they said they couldn’t help me (btw, the attendants at the track are absolutely useless. I think they just try to get moderately attractive girls to sit behind a desk, but the one was dumb as a bag of rocks). On top of that, they also charged my brother for tax, which I told the rep I was covering on the phone — so now it’s clear that in addition to the $ 60 credit card charge and the $ 100 wasted gift card, my brother also has to pay $ 30 on top of it. Anyway, we drove 2 hours to get there, we were going to try to enjoy it.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE know that at least 20% of their videos do not work. Do not expect that yours will – you will be disappointed. They give you a refund if it doesn’t, though they just offered us a plaque with a picture instead (complete white trash, but so much so that it is actually funny). It was clear the attendants didn’t care – and they kept forgetting which experiences we actually paid for, even though we told them at least 5x. They couldn’t seem to grasp that two of us were there for a ride along and another for a drive. Confusing… I know.
Other than the obvious flaws in customer service, the entire race day was completely disorganized. As the earliest group of ride-​alongs we actually got in pretty quick. But my brother, who was in the 9am class wasn’t quite as lucky. They were still packing the 8am drivers into the cars at 10am, so it’s quite clear that if you scheduled a later appointment, you’d be waiting around for quite some time. They were already an hour behind, just with their first class. Additionally, though the pre-​race email I received informed me that there would be signs all over the place, such was not the case. We had to find the gate on our own. No signs whatsoever.
Oh, and to top it off, we had to tell the pit crew that the lug nuts were completely loose on the one car! They kept blaming it on other people, of course, but they did tighten them once I showed them that it was almost off.
I did like my driver (Bill) and I give his driving 2 thumbs up, though he did seem a bit bitter to just be driving people around 4x. Please remember that you will only be in the car about 4 minutes for 4 laps. That’s it… and you’re done.
Would I do it again? Certainly not if I had to pay for it.

I did the Shoot-​Out experience at Michigan International Speedway. 12 laps of pure excitement! I’ve done this before with another company and there was an instructor in the car with you. Not here! You’re in the car by yourself. You have your own spotter to keep you safe and FAST! If you want to drive behind a pace car and never pass, this isn’t the experience for you. Passing allowed! Drive as fast or as slow as you’re comfortable with.
The staff from check in to strap in is fantastic. They’re smiling, fun, and very knowledgeable.
If you’re a NASCAR fan and ever wanted to strap in and drive, I HIGHLY recommend the Rusty Wallace Driving experience.
Worth every penny!

This was my second consecutive year racing with RWRE. Both times have been at Pikes Peak International Raceway. Last year was a blast, but the experience was even better on June 15^th of this year. The cars were better and faster, the fire suits were better. I agree with a previous reviewer that a little better feedback than «Do you want to buy a commemorative plaque for $ 60?» would be very welcome. I mean, I was in front the whole time, lapped every driver, and the pros giving ride-​alongs couldn’t pass me. Only the guy unstrapping me from the cockpit mentioned that I did a good job.

Just completed the the «Green Flag» Racing Experience. I was like a junkie when I got out the car. I wanted more. This experience was pretty incredible. We received basic instruction on the rules and procedures got fitted in a racing suit and BAM your in a race car. You are by yourself in the car with 5 other cars on the track. We began following a «pace car» I believe this is more for the crew to access our driving than it is for us. We did 2 – 3 laps with constant instruction. Showing us the best line to take around the track and proper passing technique. I had only one way communication from Phil (thanks again Phil) our track spotter. All I had to do was follow the rules and he gave positive feedback and let me drive.
The only thing that I would really ask them to change is the personal experience. I didn’t feel very special. I felt like I was getting pushed through the lines at an amusement park. There was one guy in pit row that talked to me and told me I was doing a good job. I never even got his name. I’m sure in the race world that’s what I would experience. I think they would receive great dividends from a little extra effort.
