Nice atmosphere but it’s static with a lack of drink specials and available beers. They have a patio which could be awesome, but it’s relatively unknown to the clientele and has a lack of ambiance. There’s a cool bar out on the patio that they never use and just sits blank. They could do so much more with this place.

Great music. The atmosphere is amazing. The warm pretzels are to die for, and they make the best mojitos around.

Love coming here. Always a good time and an easy going atmosphere. Usually there is a great little band or solo artist playing.

Stepping into Nick’s is a bit like stepping back in time, this is a classy looking joint but with a very low-key mellow atmosphere. Basically ideal drinking conditions in my books. We stopped through here on Saturday, celebrating my twenty-fourth birthday the day before and everyone in our group loved it. Unfortunately it was raining so we didn’t get to utilize the outdoor aspects but the inside was excellent and everyone had a very good time. I have wanted to come here since I first looked it up about a year and a half ago and I wasn’t disappointed.

I went on a Saturday night, music was great, but the place smelled really bad and the bathroom was out of mind dirty. Bar tender was really nice and always attentive, and the decoration of the place was nice too. Please Nick’s take care of your bathrooms and try to ventilate the place every now and then, air fresheners can do wonders.

Nick’s is a really cool oasis in one of the more urban areas of the city. At first glance it’s doesn’t seem like much. The character and charm lie within. They bartenders are experienced and talented. Don’t know what you want, they’d be happy to decide for you. The live entertainment is always interesting on the cabaret style stage and back room. The outside bar and patio is a great way to enjoy an adult beverage after work or on a warm summer night!

I went to Nick’s in January and inquired about having a birthday party gathering there in February. Our server encouraged me to call and make a reservation. I asked what a reservation would get us: reserved seats? private server? The server said no to both. Still confused as to why it was necessary, I called and made a reservation anyway. On the night of the party, my friends and I arrived at the designated time. We made our way to the back and sat down. No one came over to take our order or to see if we were the group that had made reservations. The scheduled entertainment never showed up and it appeared someone was just using an iPod – which kept stopping – to stream music. My friends and I had a good time socializing, and I have loved Nick’s each time I have gone, but my complaint is that there didn’t seem to be any point to the reservations I was so strongly encouraged to make.

I like Nick’s as a place to go when I’m not really sure what type of night I want to have. Its a great place because there is a bar on one side with all kinds of German knick knacks. It feels kind of like drinking in an antiques curiosity shop in France during the 1930s. The other side features a lounge with a tiny stage and crowded small table seating. Kind of like a vintage jazz club. Nick’s would be considered a Hipster bar in LA … But there really is nowhere else like it in Worcester, one of the dumpiest cities in the United States. They have lots of unique beers on tap and in bottles. If you aren’t into unique beer, your choices are limited to a couple pours. They reportedly specialize in the Manhattan and keep several bourbons ready along with bar sugar. I’ve heard they also serve absinthe here(not the kind that will make you hallucinate but the type that will make the room spin). The bartenders are ‘craft drink makers’ and are a little more hoity toity than your average bartender, but if you tip well and go back often they will soon remember your drink preferences(though I’ve never been bought a round here even after a few nights that included many trips to the bar). The music here is hit or miss for the most part and Nick’s social media department doesn’t exactly do a great job of describing the bands on the sites. So often times you have a group meet up there and after a while someone wants to bounce because the music isn’t their scene. The best band I’ve seen there was a Rockabilly band which did amazing Buddy Holly cover songs. This isn’t a young people place … So you don’t have to worry about too many annoying 21 year olds being crazy. You will see a lot of shaved sides hard part haircuts, hipster beards and the occasional waxed mustache. Downside is that it is in the Water Street area, which has virtually no parking, you have to drive through the nightmarish gauntlet that is Kelly Square to get there, and during crowded times the narrow bar fills up making it very tight. Upsides, there isn’t an atmosphere quite like it in Worcester, they show old time movies and feature cool bands, its a pretty chill vibe and unless there is a special event there’s no cover. Worth a try if you like unique bars.

Funny story: Since we were from out of town, my bf and I were relying on Google Maps to get us to Nick’s. As it turns out, Google Maps was a HUGE fail because it made us drive in a circle(literally) for 15 minutes. We had been down the block and could have easily walked, but instead took a ride for absolutely no reason. *sigh* Nonetheless, Nick’s is fabulous! It is a laid-back, fun place with a really welcoming vibe to it. We chatted with the super friendly bartender for a bit and he shared some history about the town with us. The menu had some nice items on it, but I decided to just order a pretzel and was glad I did because I was WOW’ed by the herbed cheese spread. Yum! Nick’s also has live music, so we got to enjoy this lovely band [That D*mn Chick, I believe?] singing some covers as well as original music. There’s also a beer garden which looks like it would be fabulous in the summertime. Lovely times in Worcester!

What a solid establishment… got there earlier and got to meet the chef and bartender before the regulars got in. Barkeep Chip was super cool and had plenty of knowledge about the area and Mass in general to keep me drinking. Friendly regulars. Great food, affordable beers, neat architecture, and nice vibes from the live music. If you’re in Worcester, go to nick’s.

Fantastic atmosphere! Mediocre to bad beer selection. Geary’s, Guinness, and maybe some kind of Harpoon is as good as I’ve ever seen here. Nick’s is also a stellar place to see some live music.

Tonight I went out to nick’s with the intention of having a great night out. It started off great. My boyfriend and I had a few drinks. Around 11 a guy we had never met before started harassing my boyfriend saying he wanted to punch my boyfriend in the face. Before this happened he had bumped and fallen onto me. The bartender Sean watched on with a smile on his face. I became afraid and knew that I should no get involved because that would escalate the situation. I said to Sean, «this is your responsibility.» He told me to shut up. I was taken aback and angered not only by his lack of sensitivity but also his lack of professionalism. I have nothing against Nicks but Sean is an asshole. Ps. He didn’t I.d. me. I have gotten in to nick’s before when I was 18 illegally with no I.d. and obviously nothing has changed. I have a mind to call an official to investigate illegal alcohol distribution.

Just Cool A new winner I just found in Worcester is Nicks. A beautifully crafted bar that sports live music. Hit Nicks last week after a show at the Palladium. I am so glad that I did. Super hospitable staff treated us like kings and even catered to one of my over intoxicated friends with water and coffee on the house. The coolest part is the German theme, it really makes you feel like your in Europe. Keep it up Nicks Thanks

Nick’s has live music as I’m sure you have read. I like the bartender, the service is great, the selection is great and they even have Nick’s own Lager on tap. It’s a unique bar that is worth stopping in. I don’t think you will find anything like it in Worcester.

Live music almost every night. Bartenders that are quick with a joke and a drink selection that you won’t find anywhere else in Worcester. The food menu is limited but everything is tasty. I recommend the cheese plate or the pretzel. Take a date, take your parents. The beautiful interior and the fenced in patio out back take the edge off the rough Millbury Street vibe.

Oh my word big bird. How to describe the utter wonder that is Nick’s. To put it bluntly: wonderfully amazing with a hint of utter beauty and topped off with a dash of fabulous. Nick’s how it strikes a chord in my heart that just makes me want to sing. The combination of circus meets burlesque with a twist of renaissance makes this place truly unique. Now Nick’s may not be located in the prime area of Worcester but its certainly easy to get to, granted you may have to drive through Kelly Square(yikes) but once you brave the organized chaos and you meander over to Harding St you’re home free. When you walk in the sweet sounds of ragtime and swing may penetrate your ears and give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside. The staff is fun old school dress and that ragtime feel is something you just can’t find anywhere else. The drinks are stiff and fair. Don’t look for Bud Light on tap though. Most are imported beers(try the Grimbergin it’s my favorite) but also offer a fine selection of liquors. Fun drinks such as the Blue Angel Martini and classics like an Old Fashioned are also a part of their lines of everyday drinks. They also serve food. Oh the food. The cheese plate is fantastic. A nice mix of several cheeses with crackers and pickels. Their soft pretzels and sandwiches though are the true stars for the everyday menu. Going back to old carnival days of soft pretzels and the sandwiches are loaded and toasted to sweet crispy goodness. You can never go wrong with a sandwich there. Sometimes too you will find a special going on. Rabbit stew a few years ago was amazing along with the lamb. Each a wonderful work of deliciously succulent art. If you are looking for a new place to check out some old timey music and entertainment or just looking for a new place to dine Nick’s is definately a place to check out. If you don’t think you will like it I can say that you will not be disappointed when you get there and see some entertainment. My favorite musician plays there every Sunday too: Andy Cummings. Check him out. While you’re at it have a sandwich and look forward to making a trip back again. Its always a fun experience.

Not sure it’s fair to rate Nick’s based on one experience, so this is temporary until I venture back. Out with a friend on a Monday night seeking live music. Went to the Dive Bar, a few blocks away, first, but learned that the Hammond B 3 organ jam had not been active for eight months(so much for the accuracy of the Worcester weekly). The décor is something out of pre-war Germany and I half expected to see Joel Grey or Liza Minelli come out from behind the curtain on the stage. Instead, it was karaōke night. Everyone was really into it and their intensity, if not their talent, was admirable. A draft German lager came in a glass mug hefty enough to use as a murder weapon, if one was so inclined. But the ambiance was ‘gemutlicheit’ and we left amused and happy.
