History

Established in 1934.

Millbury Credit Union began in 1934 with 20 members and $ 100 in assets. Thanks to the loyalty of our members, MCU has grown to a membership of 33,000 with assets exceeding $ 289 million. We have five branches located in Millbury, Auburn, Worcester, and S. Grafton, as well as a stand-​alone ATM in Sutton. We know there are many financial service options available, and we take pride in having served our community for over 80 years.

Denise B.

Manager

Denise Bates oversees branch operations and business development for one of our Worcester offices located in Webster Square Plaza. Denise has 27 years of banking experience and joined the MCU team in 1995 as a part-​time teller. Since then, Denise has received successive promotions and has worked at all five of our branch locations. Denise is a member of the Worcester Chamber of Commerce and serves as a Board of Director for the Webster Square Business Association.

My mother in law suffered the loss of her brother. This credit union held her late brothers monies that were to be hers paid upon death. The bank has been nothing but horrendous to deal with and have made her jump through hoop after hoop after hoop. Even changing the rules and fees from one conversation to the next.
To compare, my MIL was in a similar situation at another bank and they were the most pleasant they could possibly be under the grim circumstances.
We will be reporting this bank to the BBB.
I have belonged to credit unions for 20 years. I agree that they are the way to go over big banks – but NOT this one. The employees are either completely uneducated in their line of business or they are deceitful.

Banks suck, they maximize profits and screw their customers, so do yourself a favor and join a credit union. Credit unions are run as a «not-​for-​profit» which means profits are invested back into customers/​members.
So basically, the better they do, the better services you get like lower interest loans. So not only should you join, you should get others to join too. Look it up, legally banks are committed to maximize profits for their shareholders, while credit unions #1 priority is its customers/​members.
Millbury Credit Union is great, the staff is knowledgable and friendly. They actually give you advice on how to avoid fees, rather than banks who knowingly mislead you so they can collect fees. Most banks make most of their money off fees, not interest.
Don’t think that just cause you go to a small local bank its the same thing as a credit union. Many small local banks have the same formula for success as large banks and follow the same business model. They work to maximize their profits while claiming they are not like bank of america. Their top priority is investors, well when you got a credit union, you are an investor.
