We’re visiting Rhode Island from out of state and a relative wanted to take us out to dinner so we went with the easy choice we could all meet at. The place is run down looking, they may be doing a partial remodel right now since things looked a little taken apart like the closed ladies room and the backs of booths with, well, no backs. I ordered the Turkey Club thinking that’s hard to screw up, unless the bread is so over toasted it’s like eating a sandwich on a giant cruton. How can you not even make toast??? My son had chicken fingers and steak fries, standard frozen Sysco chicken which was cold and so we’re the fries. The waitress«Tammy» tried but kind of struggled the whole time. Drinks weren’t refilled, ordering was awkward. Not impressed, at least I never have to go back.

Okay. I’m going to start off by saying I am probably here 2 – 3 times a week. Mostly at the bar BUT I have this menu memorized. Their food is awesome. And the prices are bomb. you can’t feed two people good food for under 20 bucks, but you can here.(No drinks obviously) Speaking of booze. Two dollar drafts! Always. Hello! Domestics but come on. Also 2.99 house margaritas always, come in a frosty type mug. Again, 2.99 you can’t beat that. Managers seem pretty decent and on top of things but I have to gripe about the bar. They have two bartenders who are there everysingleday so if you are there enough you will catch them on a bad day. Speaking out loud about how«much this sucks» «I’m too old for this» «this is ridiculous«listen. I completely understand being busy sucks. But as a paying customer I don’t need to hear you complain every minute I’m there. I sometimes feel like I’m inconveniencing my bartender by asking for another. I don’t like that. Other than that, the place is decent. Food is good. Beers are cheap. Usually some fun people sitting around the bar. Give it a go :)

I cannot believe someone said these steak tips were good. They are the poorest quality meat and have no flavor. The chicken pot pie tasted like a microwaved meal. The drinks seemed like they had no alcohol in them. The only thing this place can do right is fried food. But really, how can you mess up a mozzarella stick? I’m going to avoid this place until I’m eligible for a senior discount.

I am surprised this restaurant does not average five stars. Maybe it’s under new management. I have eaten there several times since moving to the area. Every meal has been delicious. I usually eat the salmon dinner, but tonight I had the tender steak tips with onions and mushrooms. The gravy and tips were so flavorful and delicious. My friend had the fish and chips. The coating was cooked perfect and was light and crunchy — soooo good. I tend to be a tough critic of restaurants and I have to say the food is always flavorful, fresh and cooked to perfection. I’m not sure if it’s the manager or the owner but he always comes to the table to make sure you are happy with your meal. You can tell how much he cares about the restaurant, and the employees appear to care just as much. Impeccable service, always friendly, and always look happy, a very pleasant place to go out to eat. The chefs are putting out some quality recipes and fresh cooking. What’s most impressive is that the high quality of service and the excellent meals they serve is consistent, most restaurants can’t provide you with both every time. I give Chelos in Woonsocket a whole hearted 5 stars!

Came here for dinner tonight with the family. We had wonderful and attentive service. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. We were able to take advantage of half price appetizers and received a generous portion of mozzarella sticks for under 4 dollars. This was the first time we dined in this location. We have previously gotten takeout from here. Overall a great experience and we will be back.

The Bourbon Burger was awesome, Chicken fingers on point but the steak and Smash were mediocre. Drinks are a little weak more like 85% water 15% sugar. The staff was friendly our server Leisha was super friendly and even apologize for the steak even when she didn’t cook it.

Unfortunately the bar was full tonight. So rather than getting a table we got take out. I got the reuben. It was very tasty. I’ve tried a lot of different menu items here and most are good. Only thing I’ve gotten that i was not happy with was a steak sandwich. Too much fat. Not even sure if it’s on the menu anymore as the menu changes seasonally.

I am have been coming here for a long time. Great food, excellent staff. Desserts are homemade. Interior should be done over, I don’t think it has ever changed. But other than that great place!

Bland… expensive…used to be good but quality has gone down… too bad. I ordered the chicken alfredo. The small piece chicken had no seasoning. The pasta wasnt drained properly and still had water in the bottom of the dish and the alfredo sauce tasted like it was straight from the jar, but the cheap jar. Even bertollis alfredo sauce in the jar has more flavor.

Been going to Chelo’s for most of my life, unfortunately this location is doesn’t live up to the rest of the locations. The few times I’ve been since moving to Woonsocket, it’s seems to always be dirty. Tables left unbussed for quite some time. Servers are less to be desired too, most of them seem to be more interested at socializing then waiting on their tables or taking orders accurately. It’s a shame.

Very friendly staff, the shepherds pie was superb and the roast beef sandwich was also very good. I would recommend this place

First time I ever walked out of a restaurant. Initially, my guest and I were sat at a booth in the back of the bar area. However, we soon asked to be moved because the AC vent above us was dripping on our table. Not a huge issue but the vent the water was coming from had mold or grim all over it. We ordered two beers and and two entrees. My guest had a Seasonal Special — Bruschetta Chicken. It sounded light and tasty on the menu but was actually a large serving of day-old pasta, two fried frozen chicken patties doused in a garlic-butter«sauce» and topped with canned diced tomatoes. I ordered the Calamari Salad which had a few rings of what I’m pretty sure were fried rubber bands and a balsamic reduction that tasted like Hershey’s Syrup. We asked to speak to the manager, told her we were not going to be able to eat what we ordered, did not want to order anything else, and wanted the check. They charged for the beers but not the entrees and offered to let us each take home a complimentary dessert. All-in-all — AWFUL food and a depressing atmosphere but decent service and still better than Chan’s!

Went with the family for a local, inexpensive dinner for fathers day, got in around 7ish, place was clean(like it usually is) service was personable and quick, brews and apps came out quick enough that through our conversations we didn’t even notice the time pass. We chose some of their meals that include desserts and the portions were enough that most of us left with baggies for the next days lunch. Been going there for quite some time and they never fail us… Thank you for a good low key local dinner… P. s. I love wings. and they have good wings…

Good place with good food and drinks and seasonal dessert. New upgrade made to the bar area with pool tables and few booths removed. Still prefer the one on the water front in Warwick. But when you can’t make it there this one will do.

I wasn’t expecting much from here to be honest but, I’m new to the area and wanted to see what is around. You walk and all the servers were nice and welcoming, made me feel very good about coming in. I ordered the Chicken Parm Sandwich w/mashed potatoes and I have to say I was very happy that I ordered it. Very good flavor and it was only $ 7.99. The waiter was also very good and seemed to like his job and wasn’t miserable like most of the waiters in the area, so it made things pleasant. I will be coming here again, but I don’t think I will want anything else besides the Chicken Parm sandwich!

Great place for food and drinks. Visited here recently with my boyfriend. We sat at the bar because it always seems to be quicker service there, and it was. Drinks were good and not too pricey. Bartender was friendly and open to telling us her favorite dishes there. I personally had the French onion soup and grilled cheese special, around $ 6 which I thought was a good deal… wasn’t starving thus I went with a small meal. It sure was tasty!!! I get French onion soup almost everywhere I go and this one was definitely hard to beat. My boyfriend had the chicken pot pie which looked amazing… definitely made fresh to order and not frozen. We also had mozzarella sticks which was a good sized order. All in all it was a tasty meal with great service and good cold drinks. Before you judge this place by reading the negative reviews, try it out for yourself… I don’t think you will be disappointed!

Went to college in RI so I am fairly familiar with Chelos. Have to say, very disappointed to see that Chelos promotes quality ingredients to their customers, yet had to use Chelos ketchup on my burger and fries. Really? The desserts are still fantastic!!!

As a boy my parents used to take me to the original Chelo’s on Mendon Rd in Cumberland RI. I thought that place was great. The new incarnation in Woonsocket is like Denny’s with a liquor license. The food is fair. The service is poor at the bar. There are better choices in Woonsocket like Kay’s for sandwiches and River Falls for dinner. The last time I was in it was practically empty and the service was still lacking.

Solid 3-stars. This reminds me of most chain places(Fridays, Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, etc). There is a huge selection to choose from and they have certain nights where they offer a great deal(something like, appetizer, meal and dessert for only $ 9.99? Don’t quote me on that though). The service is pretty good — friendly and quick enough. It is very loud, though. I’ve been here a few times and have always been satisfied with their food, though it’s hardly gourmet. They have some healthier options(and many more incredibly unhealthy options). I highly recommend the sweet potato fries.
