Selection is good, prices are good.
However, service is very important to me, very. After all we are people.
So my wife wanted to buy certain brand of wine. This is the only one that she likes. She went in and they showed her the area where this type of wine would be located. They could’ve helped her right away, but I understand they can be busy.
Few minutes later the staff asked her if she needed help, because she couldn’t find what she was looking for. The guy offered her alternatives, which is fine. However, the way he did it wasn’t fine. He said she was wasting his time by not trying something different. This is unacceptable. He should have said «Unfortunately, we don’t have this in stock. Would you like to try something similar?», but he didn’t.
One star for service.

This is my favorite liquor store! Its incredibly convenient– very close to the 7 train and LIRR at 61^st Street-​Woodside, and I have always found the prices to be fair. The owners are very friendly, they always give me a warm welcome when I come in. Every single person I have encountered working there has always been very knowledgeable and eager to help. Huge selection, and things are well organized. I don’t go anywhere else!

Overall great selections and they have liquors that are hard to find for example. Apple ciroc. Cherry baileys that other liquor stores wont carry

I keep saying it. I always honor stores that offer quality and honest human beings who do not hustle me. I learned to distinguish between quality and hype and the wonderful rep (who felt comfortable enough with me to call me «brother») clearly stated when he did or did not personally try a particular vintage. One such example was a wine from South Africa that he mentioned was a good seller and popular choice with loyal customers. Turns out it was one of the best wines I have ever tasted even though I haven’t been drinking much alcohol lately, resulting in new taste buds that only welcome sensational possibilities.

They should be 2 Stars Wines. They don’t get one star because in all fairness, they have a wide selection and because you get a 10% discount if you buy in bulk BUT… service is important to me. Maybe it was an off day or a bad time to stop in the store, but was it? The attention I received from the manager, even though there were no other customers in the store, was mediocre. I was looking to buy 4 cases for an event, you would think I’d be the priority. Instead, I felt minimized for my lack of knowledge of wines and what makes them different from each other. I quickly became discouraged by the condescending attitude I received when he learned I was not looking to spend more than $ 10 per bottle. I could tell he lost interest when I was left to roam on my own, clueless of where to begin. I finally found something but decided I’d look elsewhere before I handed over my money…
I went to another store, Lowery Wines in Sunnyside (5 min away) and received such personalized service and attention that although I bought my 2^nd best option for my event and it was a more expensive option, I was happy with my purchase. Not overbearing at all, very friendly staff, helpful and knowledgeable.
When I called 5 Stars (a.k.a. 2 Stars) to find out if they carried the wine I had chosen, because I was 2 bottles short, the manager told me that this particular wine was not a good choice and that I should come in and learn about better ones offered at their store. He knew it was me and he thought the best way to get back at me for not purchasing the wine at his store was to try to make me feel bad about my choice. He didn’t let me respond and said «Well, good bye.»
That passive aggressive attitude with customers gets you nowhere.

This liquor store has great wine selections. However as I’m a big sake fan, I’m not really happy with their selections. I wish they had some popular sake in Manhattan here as well. For example, sesshu otokoyama, Bunraku Nihonjin, kitaya etc… oh also They definitely should have Iichiko! I can’t find iichiko anywhere around here in queens.

Good selection, great prices, and they are really helpful. Even though there are closer wine stores to my house, I always go here.

Excellent prices and John is extremely knowledgeable on Whiskey and Wine which are two of my favorite hobbies!!!

I haven’t been in Woodside too long, but this place rocks. I’ve been there a few times, and it’s my go-​to. Friendly staff, great selection, acceptable prices, blah blah blah.
Here’s why I love it: it’s a wine and liquor store run by people who know why you’re going to a wine and liquor store. No one is going to accuse you of missing the notes of hard cherrywood on your merlot, or give you the evil eye if you’re looking for cheap vodka because you don’t want to waste money on the people coming over to your house.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff yet reasonable prices is what differentiates this shop from peers.

This has been our go to wine store in Woodside since I moved in 3 yrs ago. They has a wide selection of wines from all over the world (even a vineyard in Napa valley where my friends were engaged). The prices are very fair and even the cheap wines are of good quality. If you don’t know what kind of wine your looking for you can always ask one of the very knowledgable guys that work there and they will definitely help you make the right choice for any occasion/​meal.

well i learn a little about wine long ago when i was waiting for my dentist :(so the first time i stepped in the store i asked for Malbec or Carmenere from 2008 or 07 like if i were a connoisseur of wine: p but i totally sucked after a nice good talking with jon his explanation was awesome better than the book i read x) now im a regular and always picking up different kinds of wine
this guys rocks sometimes bringing my bike inside which they don’t have any problems at all and run next door to the korean market to get kirin beer or korean pancakes: D

Received a set of Pitu drinking glasses when I picked up a bottle one day… nicest dudes ever, thanks for hooking me up. I go here all the time now and never have any issues. Best spot in Woodside.

I love everything about this liquor store. Super reasonable prices coupled with a solid selection and fantastic customer service. If only all liquor stores were like this, I’d die a happy man … quite possibly from alcoholism.
5 Stars has become my go-​to for all liquor on the go, be it small sample sizes to last minute wines or emergency spirit runs. Their inventory is so well stocked that I haven’t had any issues with popular items running out. There is one knock though, the independent brands aren’t typically found here so call ahead of time to confirm.
There are also some interesting tastings here — everything from a random wine maker to some sips from a new line of vodka. Be sure to utilize their loyalty card if you’re a regular. After all, with prices this reasonable, it makes it even sweeter when you can score an additional discount.
The service has been nothing short of outstanding. They’ll go out of their way to help folks find a bottle, make recommendations. and greet people as they come in and leave the store. That’s 5 star service right there.

5 Stars is great! The staff is always knowledgeable and professional and the prices are always good. There’s even a customer loyalty «card» lol.
There’s always a tasting or two held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays after 6pm. Always worth the visit.

Every neighborhood should come equipped with a wine/​liquor outlet with as wide an array of choices as this one. Boy, was I surprised to pass by here on a local stroll through my neighborhood. It was a blessing. Located in the center of Woodside, a few blocks past the 61^st and Woodside 7 train stop.
The wine selection is diverse and uncomplicated. Specific bottles of note are highlighted by adjectives «Smoove», «Bold», and «Mellow” — not overly complicated descriptions you see in other high end stores, written by sommelier wannabes. Staff is a major bonus too– polite and helpful. My rep almost talked my ear off, convincing me to buy as many wines as possible before I almost bought the whole store. But it’s all good. As a first time customer, the manager gave me a 10% discount which you can use on purchases of 4 or more bottles. 5% on any one bottle. I was also told they have wine tastings towards the end of the week– not sure about which exact days they are, but I am definitely returning.

As good as a neighborhood liquor store gets.
John (the Korean-​Irish dude usually wearing a beret) is passionate and knowledgeable about booze. But he’ll admit when he’s unfamiliar with something. He’ll spend the time to help you pick out what you need, and takes suggestions for things to carry.
On Thursday evenings, they have wine tasting. Sometimes, you can even taste hard liquor.
The selection of whiskey and wine is uncommonly good for a local shop, but I think they could improve on rum, liqueurs, etc.
Prices are decent, and better when you sign up for a free membership card which entitles you to 5%off. Buy 4 items get 10% off. Free local delivery.
