Meet the Business Owner
Mary K.
Business Owner
Self employed since 1980. Lifelong teacher, multi mused artist, continually adding skills, refining, hybridizing. Contributor of three sketchbooks archived at the Brooklyn Art Library. Member of the Ice House Artist Co-op, Berkeley Springs WV.
Multi mused, yet not a dabbler, Mary is a highly rated presenter, receiving in 2013 an award for excellence in art education. Her interests & studies are wide, but viewed as all related; she combines and hybridizes among them freely from a perspective of how things work rather than a formulaic «do this, get this» approach.
Example: Mary created a group of pieces commissioned by the University of Maryland Pain Management Clinic in Baltimore in 1989 which combined felted components and layers with triaxial weaving (that got onto her radar by way of basketry and Haley’s Comet). Her current triaxial weaving work involves algorithmic patterns worked in narrow silk ribbon strips, hand dyed.
Labyrinths, corn mazes, and dimensional paper pieces– next?
