Description

Specialties

With over 27 years experience as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, I work with individuals dealing with hard life issues, couples in crisis, and parents/families coping with adolescents in trouble. Resolve depression and anxiety. Discover your dreams, and traverse the trails that fulfill on them. Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is work on the core of mental being.

The specific issues that prompt a person to call me are varied, but the way in which we will work together is what defines my practice. You lead, and we will listen to your experiences, thoughts, and feelings in ways that are meaningful and helpful to you. I specialize in helping people know themselves powerfully and wholly, such that you experience your life with fullfillment. The goal is to realize your full ever-expanding potential and have your life revolve and evolve around what’s most important to you.

History

Established in 1986.

I opened my office in Woodland Hills in 2002, having practiced previously in Beverly HIlls and New York. I help individuals, couples, and families who are struggling and/or dissatisfied with interpersonal relationships, work, school, and health. Often people find themselves calling me when something has happened and they want some help getting through it. Working through depression, anger and anxiety are frequently at the heart of our work, and feeling like you have an empathic ear will be important.

In addition to my Masters in Social Work, I am trained as a childbirth educator/coach, hold a post-graduate certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and in 2009, I completed two years of training in an ontological communications course through Landmark Education emphasizing teams, management, and leadership. I am now working on my Doctorate in Psychoanalysis at PCC, and yes, I have a couch (very cozy)… no, I don’t take notes during sessions…

Meet the Business Owner

Briar G.

Business Owner

In addition to being a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, I have presented as a speaker to general audiences, on the topic of breast cancer and BRCA and its impact on family life and communities. As Vice-President of Homeless Not Toothless, a non-profit organization I am also committed to raising the pride, dignity, and independence of the homeless. In 092009 we sponsored a gala to raise awareness and funding for a new project to support a clinic that will ultimately provide dental treatment for the 28,000 children placed in foster care in the Los Angeles area. Further, I am a member of Doctors Who Care, a group, committed to providing the highest level of care to patients. I was featured with this group in Los Angles Magazine’s January 2010 issue of top doctors in L.A.
