Bin coming here for the past 7 years, will never go anywhere else. Art loves what he does and does it very well. He is a lifetime barber, make sure you stop by if you are on the edge. He knows what he is doing !!

Art is simply the best hair expert in the Valley! He is a specialist in all things hair, including cuts, color, styling, damage repair, new techniques, and difficult hair situations. If I could give more stars, I would!
I realize that you don’t know me, but I promise you, I know Art very well! I have been a client for a bit over 27 years as I write this review… I know, I should have written one when I first started using Unilocal! (I am just now trying to embrace the Unilocal review.) I have followed him through at least five different locations, though he has been at his current stand alone location for many years, and it is great! There is a front area with two comfy couches and a TV, and the service area with his one station. It is clean and comfortable, and if you are a new client, you will feel welcomed and comfortable right away. There is always a snack and a beverage option for you while you are there. There is a private parking lot in the back, along with plenty of street parking. Just be sure to check the signs for street cleaning days.
I trust Art with my life. He is a great hair stylist and an amazing person. If you are looking for a new place to go, I highly recommend!

Art is a VERY nice man. I got my hair highlighted and cut and he did an excellent job. His salon is very nice… Smocks are clean, bathroom is clean, couches are clean, there are complimentary drinks and snacks, everything is very professional. HIGHLY recommended.

Art does an amazing job! Ever since my friend recommended me, I’ve been coming here ever since. He is now my only hair stylist. I love his technique, especially when it comes to changing my hair color. He has a great eye for making your hair look absolutely beautiful! I love it!

I went to see Art when my friend recommended him. I have thin hair and am allergic to permanent hair color. As a 45+ year old, I’d been struggling to get my hair in order. Not only did he color my hair with a paint brush to avoid touching my scalp or skin, but he layered my hair and taught me how to maximize body without stressing or spraying my hair. The color is beautiful, unique and has dimension, and my hair never looked fuller or healthier. He even taught me how to replicate the style simply and how to have some variety. I left beautiful and hair smart!

I now live in Seattle but still see Arthur when I’m in CA. I went to him for over 15 years! He’s the best colorist around! Fun, comfortable place with GREAT service and results. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a long term relationship that benefits their hair!!:)

I love getting my hair done by Art. He is friendly and has a very restful shop. Parking is never a problem and you can actually get your hair done, without feeling like your in a drama factory or hen house. He has tv in both rooms and you can even charge your phone or iPad. I would highly recommend giving him a try. One huge plus is his prices are reasonable and you never walk out feeling taken advantage of.

I have been going to A Work of Art for over 10 yrs and I have been a very satisfied customer. Art’s salon is unique because he is the solo stylist. His salon is quiet, relaxing and a departure for your typical chaotic salon w/​lots of chatter and loud dryers. His salon is easy to get to… one block south of Ventura Blvd. w/​ample parking. Art truly is an artist. I always love my color and cut and he has always accomadated my appointment requests. You will not be disappointed.

I have been going to Art for over 8 years. Art is not only an outstanding stylist, he is an accomplished colorist. His salon is immaculate, comfortable, and relaxing. Art is an exceptional human being who makes all of his clientele feel as if they are part of his family. Your needs are his concern and his personality is warm, friendly, and generous. He goes out of his way to help his clients follow up with their styling at home and he is an excellent listener as well. I have been to the best and worst salons in the L.A. area over the last 35 years and I can tell you that Art, himself, if a A Work Of Art!

Art Michel has had his hands in my hair since the early 90’s. I’ve gone to a few others throughout the years but I keep coming back to Art! He knows my type of hair and makes it shine every time. He listens and pays attention to what you want and genuinely aims to please. His salon is stylized, clean and comfortable. Prices are incredibly reasonable considering the ‘West Side’ quality service he renders. His clients are ‘family’. If you want a quick cut and a cheap color don’t bother but if you want someone to give you honest consult as to what is best for you — and enjoy having your hair complimented often; call Art.

It is not my normal practice to write reviews, but I had a really good experience with Art so I am writing one. I went to get my color corrected because it was too blonde and made me look washed out. I was not sure what I wanted but I showed him some photos of the colors I liked. He matched the color I envisioned perfectly and my hair did not get damaged. Actually, it got healthier looking. Someone wrote that his place is a «hole in the wall.» I did not find that to be the case. It was a very nice, clean place. It was not too small and he has everything there (wine, fruits, coffee, internet). I felt very comfortable. He is very professional and takes the time to figure out what the client wants. It is pricy (yet probably not more than most salons) but he said he used products to seal in the color so I am hoping it will last for a while. If you have a vision of something you would like but your stylist has not been able to meet your expectations, you should give Art a try.

Still going to Art for great color. My hair is shiny and doesn’t feel like straw anymore. Salon is on a quiet street and is a one client at a time place so it’s nice if you don’t want to see anyone while getting hair done.

Art ROCKS! plain and simple. after looking for a new stylist my sister suggested Art to me as she was referred from a friend. If you want a stylist that knows color and cutting techniques truly then Art is your guy. He has a welcoming personality and the salon has a therapeutic vibe. I was told by friends and family that my hair color looked the best it has in years, color looked natural and hair feels silky again.
