3 Monkeys Theatre Company

Went to see the Production of Almost Maine on Friday night, February 24^th. Wow! I wasn’t sure what to expect or to expect anything at all, but I was BLOWN AWAY! I love this play and wanted to see it done on its feet and absolutely loved the intimate space, the simple yet beautiful set, and the fabulous acting! Each actor had such a different element to bring to the show and every scene was real, authentic, funny, and touching! Can’t wait to go back and see what else they have up their sleeves!

Go see «Almost, Maine» before it’s gone. The acting is unbelievably good, and the play itself is by turns funny, touching, and insightful /​revealing. We saw it as a Valentine’s thing, and it was perfect for that, but it’s WAAAAY better than «just» a perfect date-​night play. We were literally blown away by how good the acting was. We’ve been season ticket holders at the Ahmanson for decades, and the acting in this play was every bit as good as what we’ve seen at the Ahmanson — maybe better. It’s a series of vignettes — blackouts, sort of like sketches, but better than that. A woman goes to see her boyfriend, and demands back all the love she has given him, while she is delivering to him all the love he’s given her, in sacks. It’s a visual metaphor, it’s a little nutty, but it completely works, and it was one of my favorite bits, although it’s tough picking a favorite. ‘Nuff said. I don’t want to be a spoiler. See it, and you will not regret it.
