Melanie Johnson Classical Pilates Studio offers private Classical Pilates sessions on all of the original Pilates apparatus and small, intimate group classes.

Melanie teaches the principles and techniques of the entire Classic Pilates repertoire, on all of the Classic Pilates apparatus as designed by Joseph Pilates, focusing on the authenticity of the Pilates Method.

Small, intimate group classes in Classic Pilates MAT, Ballet BARRE, Fletcher® Pilates TowelWork, Pilates on the BALL, and more! Classes are individually designed and taught with expert instruction and hands on attention in our private Pilates /​BARRE studio.

Master Pilates teacher Melanie Johnson is a classically trained Pilates teacher who has been teaching for 30 years, has earned over 20 certifications. Melanie is voted New Haven CT’s BEST Personal Trainer and BEST Pilates studio for 11 years in a row!

Melanie has been teaching for 30 years, and is proud to be a third-​generation classically trained Pilates instructor with a direct lineage to Joseph H. Pilates. She had the great fortune of studying Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® under the direction of its founder, Juliu Horvath. She is a licensed teacher of Fletcher Pilates. In addition, Melanie has studied dance and yoga for over 30 years. Combined with her trainings in Fletcher Pilates, The Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais and The Franklin Method; she is also an Ace certified personal trainer and fitness instructor, Reiki I and II, and Nia instructor. Her longevity in her industry and life long commitment to her work enables Melanie to teach with exceptional skill, insight, creativity and compassion.

Melanie was the first teacher to introduce the Classic Pilates method and Gyrotonic® to the greater New Haven, Connecticut area in 1997, opening the first Pilates studio in the area. She has the honor of being voted both «Best
