Smart Tuition

It is unfortunate that my children’s school filters their money through this company. Their customer service is terrible! I was informed 3x that management would contact me by phone & has yet to contact me since October 17^th! I contacted them multiple times to no avail at resolving my requests. If at all possible avoid them at all costs! walk your money in, use snail mail, use a pigeon to get your money processed properly before you use this place!

Frankly based on the reviews on the Internet, I was a bit leery of this company. My oldest goes to Catholic School and we are required to make payments via Smart Tuition. I have had no problems with the service. One time I was late by a day and they were nice enough to waive the late fee. My daughter is finishing her studies at school so June will be the last month I shall be paying tuition. I am glad about that lol. I shall finally have some extra money in my pocket lol.

WOW, SMART TUITION this company must have been started by someone who worked for the IRS. The calls starts with a robot, waiting and much time spent BEFORE you speak to a rep. I abhor the idea of sharing financial information with a third party but with two kids in Russian Math and high costs I had no choice (this is the only way they accept payment). Instead of me paying by check (or even setting up online payment), I have to pay using this terrible service. Worse, they charge 2.6% to use a credit card. Since I am a busy person, I use the credit card (because if you don’t send a payment on time you will get unwieldy fees).
Any school which is looking at using this service know: 1. You will alienate your parents who are busy and just want to pay you 2. Do you really want to create a burden to get paid. 3. Why can’t you just hire someone to take checks? And to add a cost to accept credit cards is insulting that is a basic business cost. Should be for Smart Tuition also.
Fortunately, I have never had a payment issue (except an expired credit card once which generated a host of fees).
In this day and age, this company is obsolete and really bugs me. I hate Smart Tuition and wish I had enough money to pay in full.

I only started using smart tuition lately. I like the idea of not having to write checks, and doing things online, HOWEVER don’t ever forget your username and password. They say that you can easily call to talk to a representative, but I have been trying to call now for so many days and THEY PUT YOU ON HOLD FOREVER!!! YESTERDAY I WAS WAITING FOR ALMOST AN HOUR, TODAY I AM STILL ON HOLD FOR 16 MINUTES ALREADY. SMART TUITION YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!!

I just submitted our first payment to Smart Tuition. We used Bill Pay and set the deliver date to 2 days prior to the due date. Smart Tuition charged us a $ 40.00 fee. 1 Rep stated they process all payments the same day they are received. However, I had my bank follow-​up on the payment and they told my bank (I was on the call as well) that they take a few days to process payments. I have NEVER had a Bill Pay payment post late or received a late payment for a bill pay when I set the delivery date to be on the due date or a day or two prior. I believe Smart Tuition purposefully holds checks so that they can post late fees. They offer the option to ACH your account but I use bill pay for security reasons and I like that I was able to have my Bank advocate for me with Smart Tuition. By the way, Smart Tuition pays for positive reviews.

It takes way too long for them to process payments. My payment is due the 10^th. I usually pay at least 2 weeks ahead and I will still occasionally be charged late payments, which are pretty high. The problem is my bank shows the payment as processed, they don’t even register that they have the payment. If I pay them directly on their website, it goes faster. I really prefer to handle it through my bank’s bill pay for traceability and security. I do not have any other payments that take as long to process.

My son’s school uses smart tuition and I’ve never had any problems with them. The convenient part is I set up direct payment and the tuition is withdraw directly from our checking account. Therefore, I avoid late fees. At the other school my son attended they wanted us to pay for the full year up front. That’s alot to spend at once and smart tuition withdraws payments monthly which I prefer.

I’ve updated to two stars because my problem was resolved satisfactorily. It took me approximately 8 hours of work through contacting the company, my bank, and finally posting on web sites like this, but the company did respond favorably in the end.
