A2Z Appliance Service

Pros– Courteous repair technician that calls ahead and arrives on time. They work with Home Warranty Company to make repairs and did their best to help us get to the best solution when dealing with a high-​end LG fridge that just kept having issues. After our second issue with the fridge, (and these were expensive issues to fix), the technician was sympathetic to our frustrations. We were not charged a second $ 75 deductible for the second call for repair. The technician called the night before to instruct me how to defrost the fridge so he could make the repair efficiently in the AM. For the second call, the technician also explained to us how to at least keep our freezer/​fridge functioning while we waited for the repair approval.
Cons– it wasn’t repaired fully the first time, but we are holding LG accountable for that. Reviews for the model online are pretty poor– wouldn’t be our choice of fridge in the future but it came with the home we bought. It took awhile the second time to work out the repair between the home warranty company and A 2 Z, but we were pleased that the same company was willing to handle the repair and trust that they will help make it right if we have further issues with our beautiful, but lemon of a fridge.

Unfortunately, the only good thing about this place is their Office Manager Patty (who I interacted with over phone and email in 2013 and early last year)…each time, when setting up service with her… she was kind, genuine, fast, responsive, and eager to help. However, she’s just the Office Manager and not the owner. My guess is that the owners are what make this place what it is. Other than pleasant Patty, I’d say there’s nothing good about this place.
What most upsets me & why they’re getting what would be 0 stars from me? They refused to refund a measly $ 69 after the huge headache I went through with them. Read on if you’ve got time… I promise to explain myself…
They claimed they waived $ 89 in service charges twice for me earlier last year, and that’s why they couldn’t refund me $ 69. However, as I recall, at least one of those two service charges should’ve been paid by my insurance — especially because I did move forward in having work completed by them (therefore, the service charge would’ve been absorbed). It is not my fault whether or not my insurer pays them or not; that’s up to them — as a business — to deal with (before moving forward in servicing me). While I appreciated their supposed waiver, I’m not entirely sure why those two service charges existed in the first place — I never once received a written bill from them. Their owner, or whomever I spoke to, seemed to be as confused as I was when I spoke to them at the end of 2013.
The $ 200 control board they installed for me — when they did do a job for me — was completely unnecessary, and I understand I would’ve had to pay a service charge anyway since their tech came over anyway. However, I did pay the $ 69 cash and expected that be applied to the cost of the entire service. I was disappointed when I learned that the work he did was not only unnecessary, but wasn’t the right repair in the end — and that I had to suffer through the experience I did (my HVAC was not functioning for days!). on top of it all.
The worst of it all is that theyl charged the full amount to my credit card before the job was even done; that’s bad business practice. I would think that refunding the $ 69 I paid in cash to them would be something they would do out of courtesy because of the horrid experience I had with the repair work from their technician. Unfortunately, it seems that their owner isn’t principled enough to part with a mere $ 69. A simple refund of $ 69 would’ve kept me from proactively bad-​mouthing their company, but it seems that’s too much to ask. To date, I’ve never heard back from them after detailing all of the above via email to Patty.
What they did to me was not only unfair, but completely pathetic, too. Keeping a home freezing — under the guise that a second part of a part was coming — is completely sad for a company that’s known to service furnaces. In retrospect, I was the one silly enough to believe that I was getting a knowledgeable, caring, and truthful technician from their company. I could go on and on about the deficiencies of how this whole ordeal transpired, but there’s no point now. All I know is that, in this whole experience, I was on the losing end. They were not.
I hope that this company doesn’t keep delivering shoddy service to its customers as I experienced.

If you need a «high end» appliance repair… Do Not waste your time or money with this service. This was my second experience with this company. The first was great… a GE refrigerator… an easy repair. This last repair was to a Kirkland gas range. The technician came in… spent 10 minutes inspecting the range… then informed me the range was old (4 years old… really?) and they did not make parts for the range any longer (strange…I found them online). This was a waste of time and $ 60.00…BEWARE AND AWARE…

Microwave was making a loud noise and not heating. I called and A2Z said they’d be at my house in ten minutes. Sure enough they were there, but with news that our microwave needed a part to repair. They took our built in microwave back to their shop and returned the next day with our functioning microwave. Up front about the price and quick service. (They also repaired our washing machine)

The dryer was making a loud sound. Technician Farid came, turned the dryer on, and stared at the machine. He decided that the rear bearing was bad just from staring at the machine. He did not open it. He charged me $ 49.00 for the diagnosis and gave me an estimate to fix it. After he left he called me and said that it was going to cost way more than what he quoted me. I called another company who after looking inside the machine they knew that the motor was was bad and the rear bearing was totally operable.
I will not call A2Z Appliance Service again because they charged me $ 49 for a wrong diagnosis and gave me super expensive quote to fix the inaccurate diagnosis.
If a company wants to charge customers for diagnosis at least it should be accurate or the respectable company should refund the money for the wrong diagnosis.

This is the second time I have called them and on both times they did not disappoint. Professional, courteous, and on time. They were able to repair my refrigerators hence saving me the big expense of having to buy new units. Their fees were reasonable too I found. Highly recommend them!

I called because my oven wasn’t heating properly, and through broken English the lady coordinated an appointment for the next day. She said they’d call when they were headed to my house, which they did. The guys came in, very polite and professional. They diagnosed the problem and had it fixed in 30 minutes– $ 275. I was pleased with their responsiveness and effectiveness. I knocked one star off for price because the part (on Amazon online) was $ 30, and they fixed it in 30 minutes. To me this means their hourly rate was $ 500/​hr which seems steep to me. But– I don’t know what everyone else charges so take that as you will.

Pros: They always pick up the phone. Appliance repair places in the area tend to call you back the next day. A2Z picked up every time I called (whether it’s 9PM or 8AM the next morning.) I very much appreciated that. They were also very flexible with my schedule.
Cons: I called on a Tuesday evening. They said they could be there the next day. I told the operator exactly what was wrong with my refrigerator («bad start relay»). The guy comes the next day and looks at my refrigerator for less than three minutes and says «you have a bad start relay — I have to go to the ‘part store’ and get you a new start relay. I will come back tomorrow.» Asks me to pay the bill ($ 60) and says that will cover it when he comes back. I ask him what time and he tells me «in the morning.»
Morning comes and goes. I call A2Z and they tell me they can’t get a hold of the guy — which, I am completely fine with because that kind of honestly is refreshing. Finally, 3PM rolls around and another guy shows up to re-​diagnose it. I tell him what is wrong. I showed him the receipt from the day before. He insists he has to re-​diagnose it anyway. He tells me it is the «start relay» (yeah, I know…) and that it will cost $ 320. He says he will take off the $ 60 I already paid — sounds like he is doing me a favor, but I googled what it costs to replace a start relay and it’s a lot less than $ 320.
He fixed it in 15 minutes or less with a very cheap part. I felt ripped off and it took 24 hours more than it should have…
tl;dr — they get the job done, but it is pricey and sketchier than I would have hoped.
