Arrived to an empty restaurant for lunch and a half empty deck, with 8 people in our party and it completely threw the hostess who met us at the door into a tizzy. We asked for a table outside and she escorted us to a back table on the deck with one broken umbrella. As we stood in the blazing sun, we asked to be moved and would happily split up our party into two tables of four so that we could have the two lovely, empty tables closer to the waterfront. That threw her into more of a tizzy and she dragged 8 of us around the porch in front of other diners for several more minutes before reluctantly agreeing to letting us sit in the two tables we had asked for 10 minutes prior. This after I complained that we are paying customers, and what was the the big deal? I will say, however, that the waiter more than made up for her rudeness, so kudos to him! The food was good, but for the price, it needed to be! The hostess never bothered to give us the menu for the daily specials, so who knows what we may have missed. Regardless, I won’t be back and neither will the other two families that were with us.

Love this place! My favorite place to have bloody Mary’s by the lake! Their outside patio is great and the views are sensational. The staff is excellent and we love their burgers. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Poor service and overpriced food. This is one restaurant we can get rid of. After multiple attempts I no longer go there.

Meh. Wolfeboro has fewer restaurants every year. Garwoods has been around a while, but quality, selection and service fluctuate frequently.

Food was excellent. Even the kids meals were great quality. Atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. Staff was very attentive and kind. They helped my 90 year old grandmother to our seats and even turned up the light above our table when they realized she was struggling to read the menu in the dimmed lighting and then turned it back down for our meal. We will definitely be returning.

$ 58 before tax and tip for beer battered fish & chips, a chicken wrap, and two miniature bowls of onion soup, with two barely 4 ounce glasses of Chardonnay for lunch. Our 8 ounce glasses were filled below half. That’s a $ 75.00 lunch for two, folks, sans desert. I asked for a bottle of Tabasco, and was given a practically empty bottle, as if they can’t bother to keep up an appearance with new ones for the few people like me. I notice little things like that, and it speaks volumes. Limited menu of ordinary fare. Low ceiling and extremely narrow dining area amplifies the constant din, which gets very irritating, with everyone raising their voices. Food is acceptable but nothing more than I would expect in any one of a million places at half the tab. Actually, it was worse than I exect. The $ 7.00 onion soup had a tiny, soggy 2 inch croûton, and a paltry amount of GRATED cheese. My fish and chips gave me a MSG hangover. The Ore-Ida fries were as good as the ones you get in the freezer bag. View of the lake is very nice, but only for the two and one half window tables. Cramped quarters. All others must get their view by looking past them, which is really not so great if you’re at the table everyone is gazing past. Our waitress was less than great, and told us she didn’t read the specials. Downtown Wolfeboro is a tourist trap, and Garwoods keeps works hard at holding up their end of that reputation. We used to go here regularly, and now I recall why we stopped. Head around the corner to Bayside Grill for more and better food, more elbow room, deep drinks, and big TVs all around, great wait staff, at standard prices. I cannot recommend Garwoods, except for those who think nothing about spending double rate for half-rate food. Large linen napkins is perhaps the only high mark I can give.

Stopped for a quick lunch by the water. Beautiful views of lake winnepausaukee. The burger was thick and juicy. Great place

Found this wonderful restaurant. My husband wanted clam chowder and I wanted a lobster roll. Both were excellent. There was so much lobster on my roll I had to eat it with a fork before I could close it and eat it as a roll. Service was excellent. I highly recommend.

Great food. Nice deck on lake to watch sun go down. Excellent service and wait staff are very affable. Too pricey though so beware. 50 $ for 2 cocktails, tuna tacos, dessert and tip. Treated myself however!

My husbands family has been going to Wolfeboro for decades and I have had the pleasure of joining them these past few years. Last night we were headed out of town with a friend but wanted to grab dinner first. We landed on Garwoods because my husband had never been there and his sister had said good things about it. We got a table on the waterfront patio rather easily… I would highly recommend the patio do long as you take the poorly lit stairs carefully and have a phone handy to use as light for the menus. We waited five minutes or so for our server to greet us and take our drink order, then another five minutes for her to come back and inform us that they were out of Dr Pepper. .kind of a confusing statement as my husband and I had ordered diet Pepsi. A quick word on drinks: they charge per refill, so we spent $ 8 on our sodas for the night. Nothing was ever mentioned about this fact. Another five minutes past and she was back with our drinks and we put in our appetizers(potstickers, clam chowder, and calamari.) The calamari was extremely chewy and overcooked. I couldn’t eat it, but my husband decided he was hungry enough to dive in anyway. The potstickers were tasty, and our friend enjoyed his clam chowder. Our entrees(a burger, roast beef sandwich, and a ceasar salad) were enjoyable. Overall, the service was lacking and the food quality was redeemed with the entrees. Still, we probably won’t be going back.

My favorite place in Wolfeborough. Great service, food and setting. Clam chowder was the best I’ve ever had(yes, I’m serious). Our experience could not have been better. Oh and our server Sam was absolutely amazing. Easy on the eyes, sharp as a tack, and sets a new bar for responsiveness. Great hire!

We took a drive around the lake and found this gem for lunch. Outside seating was great, cozy dockside deck, feet from the water. Staff was very nice, & very attentive. We ordered nachos and buffalo tenders, tenders were very moist, and perfectly sauced. Nachos were top notch, tri color chips, loaded with melty cheese, fresh tomatoes and scallions over salsa and sour cream. Both dishes were a hit! Definitely coming back! #hiddengem

Perfect waterfront location on a nice day. Excellent service but mediocre, overpriced food. I ordered the Hummus Plate($ 13), which consisted of a scoop of hummus, a handful of toasted pita chips, ~10 olives, and 4 slices of cucumber. Disappointing! My husband’s burger was rare(although he did not order it that way) and each topping was over $ 1.50. Delicious fries! We ordered 3 kids meals($ 6 each): grilled cheese with fries, chicken tenders with fries, and a bowl of pasta(on the small side). Kids meals do not include kids drinks.

My wife and I had lunch here today. We were very pleased, I got the Lobster Roll(really stuffed with meat) and she got the Shrimp and Edamane salad(Thai spicy very flavorable). Our seats were on the water outside and the view is excellent. Service was very good and they have an excellent beer selection. Pricing is moderate, but fair considering where you are.

Decent food, liked the Ceaser salad and French onion soup. Don’t get the Asian lettuce wraps, they are unimpressive. My homemade ones are way better! They need a good drink list. I love when restaurants craft their own cocktails… and here I just find myself getting a gin and tonic… boring! Nice lake view in the summer. More of a yummy lunch place. Good service either way just the place overall appeals to an older crowd.

I have been to Garwoods several times now. I love this location because the view is incredible at any time of year. The tables that are right by the window overlooking the lake are worth the visit alone. So, to start, I will say that their wine list is huge. It’s nice but definitely on the expensive side(which, for a restaurant on the lake in downtown Wolfeboro isn’t terribly surprising). I find the menu to be a bit underwhelming. I generally enjoy when a restaurant has a small menu to choose from because it shows quality and care in the food. However, this menu feels a bit«bland» to me. Their appetizers seem cheap. My first visit, they had oysters in the half shell which were PHENOMENAL. They are no longer there(so if you go and they have the oysters, GETTHEM). Everything is overpriced for what it is with the food. The service is average, but nothing spectacular. Every time I have been to Garwoods, the server seems a bit like they could care less. They don’t really make you feel welcome(which, to me, is a huge key in a restaurant).

Not bad. The patio and view is what really makes this restaurant, as the food was fine(I had some decent fried clams and fries, my party had some OK burgers) but is nothing outstanding, and is on the pricey side. Also note that you can only have alcohol if you’re sitting down, for some reason, so you can only hang out at the bar if you can grab a stool(weird).
