Barewood Inn & Suites

Great stay here! We liked it so much we stayed an extra night. Very friendly, helpful staff, notably a young lady that I dealt with the most. Pet friendly too! Online reservation was a pleasant experience as well. Having grown up in the valley, I’ve stayed at a few places here, and this was the nicest. Clean, well thought out rooms, and all the «big city» hotel extras that make you feel: pampered? appreciated? I truly look forward to the next time I need a room up here. PS: The jacuzzi tub in the room scored me some points with the missus. Barewood even made sure we had a nice bottle of bubble bath to pour in!

Ein kleines, total idyllisches «Hotel» mit zehn Zimmern, die von der gemütlichen Terrasse einen direkten Blick auf Lake Isabella bieten. Der Chef ist total nett und erklärte bzw. warnte uns noch etwas vorm Death Valley. Unser Zimmer war sauber, mit großem Bad, Kühlschrank, Mikrowelle (kostenlosem Popcorn), Parkplatz inklusive direkt vor jedem Zimmer. Man ist in fünf Minuten in Kernville, kann das wichtigste aber auch im Market um die Ecke kaufen. Gegenüber ist ein kleines Kino. Wir hatten einen tollen Zwischenstop auf dem Weg nach Las Vegas!

Charming little spot, clean and comfortable. Nice view, close to restaurants and even a little movie theater. Not tons to do, but close enough to neighboring towns to keep myself busy :)

no hot water the first night and morning !!! Management didn’t seem to care enough about our discomfort to offer any discount. very nice housekeeper. place was clean and neat

This Inn is a quaint place with only 10 rooms. My group rented out the entire place and it was amazing! Rooms were so adorable and fit our accommodations perfectly! The bathroom was roomy and the beds were comfortable. There were also complimentary waters and popcorn in each room for no charge! The staff was extremely friendly and understanding in our large group reservation. The location was only a short drive from downtown Kernville, which is where we were most of the day for the car show. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

only minus, the AC unit is super loud when it runs. we couldn’t sleep with it on. I dont know if this is normal for window units. nonetheless, annoying.

I love this place. Clean and comfortable. Nice and helpful staff. Has big Bathroom with a great shower. Small Fridge, Micro wave, coffee and nice towels. I was very comfortable. We were part of a big group and booked late for the Motel most of our group stayed in. We looked around and found this but did not know what to expect. My friends all wished they stayed here instead.

Basic, comfortable, clean, inexpensive.
It ain’t the Four Seasons, but this was just right for our bike trip with the guys.
Good bed, mini fridge, microwave, TV/​cable, free wi-​fi.
All good.

Loved staying here. The hotels in Kernville were too expensive so we decided to stay here for only $ 80 a night. There was free wifi, complimentary candy popcorn hot chocolate, a fridge and freezer an the bed was very cozy. The place was very quaint and had a great view of the lake. Definitely staying here again next time we come up to the valley. Great value! Although wifi was a little bit slow

Stayed two nights at the Barewood Inn & Suites in Wofford Heights over this Thanksgiving Holiday. The Kernville area is very limited on decent motels, this one looked okay via their Facebook page so I call them. Based on our conversation we decided to give it a try. Both nights including tax cost about $ 171.
We arrive very late on Thanksgiving night but the lights were on and everything was ready. The room was clean, the sheets were new and clean and we had no problems checking in.
During our two day stay we found everything in the room fine. I could tell the entire property had been remodeled inside and out. There was even a nice propane barbeque out by the picnic tables ready to be used by anyone that wanted to fire it up for a long day of fishing. I thought that was nice.
The bathroom was clean and had new appliances. The shower was great! I love it when the low flow water restriction device is removed; we had plenty of hot steamy water.
The WiFi worked okay on my iPad but I didn’t use it much. I did not use the land line telephone. Caution: only AT&T cell phone service works in this area so either be prepared for roaming charges or just turn off your cell phone if you do not use AT&T. I turned off my phone.
I would recommend the Barewood Inn & Suites to anyone staying in the Kernville/​Lake Isabella area. The property was priced well and very comfortable.

This is a very decent motel if you pay less then or around $ 80 for a room. Very friendly and helpful staff that will help you pick trails to hit up and activities in the area. The room was cozy if not a little on the cutesy side (flower and bear themed), but they give you popcorn and you have a mini fridge, microwave and a pretty spectacular view of the lake from your door. I enjoy this area during the winter as it is very quiet and you see few other travelers, even if most of the good trails are closed, meaning you won’t get to see the giant sequoias. Go in the summer for your more woodsy experience and lake/​river activities.
