Advanced Dentistry

Hi everyone! I’ve been going to another location to advanced dental at 36 Bow st., in Somerville for over 4 years now and the main doctors who’ve been taking care of my teeth from cleanings, fillings to root canals were quite amazing! They are very caring, knowledgeable, and most importantly, they try to save your natural teeth! In the end, the best are your own teeth, so take care of them and stop by for a dental appointment!

This place is TERRIBLE. I had an appointment at 9:30am, I arrived there at 9:20am and ended up waiting 40mins & still didn’t get to see the dentist. All I kept getting from the receptionist was «she will be with you shortly» yea right. This isn’t the first time this has happened with them. On top of that, they wanted to charge me $ 35 to get a copy of my records, because I wanted to go somewhere else. They can truly stick the records where the sun doesn’t shine. I will never bother with this place again.

First let me say that I have severe panic attacks even thinking about dentists, never mind actually sitting in a dentists chair! Anyways, I made an appointment because I chipped a tooth and it hurt! My appointment was at 11 o’clock and I had to leave work to go to the appointment and told my boss that I would be back in an hour or so. I sat in the waiting room for THREE hours!!! Nobody came out and said that they were running late or anything. They just kept me sitting there! Finally this really nice girl came and got me out of the waiting room for my appointment, which was three hours prior! It’s was the dental assistants first day or first week and she was very nice and sweet (she would get 5 stars). She did X-​rays and moldings and then the dentist came in (Dr. Goli). She was kind of nice to me but she kept saying things like «bring your kids, bring your family, bring friends», etc., doing felt like she was trying to promote her business rather than look at my teeth. She also talked very rushed, which is real funny since I just sat in the waiting room for three hours! She referred me to an oral surgeon to get a tooth pulled in be put under because of my severe panic attacks (which she should have done better research because when I got to the oral surgeons office, he doesn’t put people under) and then said come back and we’ll do this, this, and this! I will be getting another opinion because that seemed to be a lot of work but like I said she was very nice to ME, just rushed. Now, what really turned me off was that she was such a b***h to the new dental assistant who was extremely nice and doing a wonderful job! I actually said something because I felt bad for the way she was being treated. And if the dentist wanted to say things to her, she could have done it when I, or any other patient, wasn’t in the room!

Not good!!! I went because they were an In network provider for Met Life. They took full xrays and did a quick cleaning. I was given a diagnosis for future service. I had to pay out of pocket for a filling $ 250. I had pain after the filling. I had already made a future appointment. I made sure everything was straightened out via insurance, and went to my appointment. They left me in a chair for an hour, took more xrays (to charge me) and gave me different diagnosis. A much worse one. When I asked why I was not told at my consultation, they claimed they needed more films. It was a scam. And my filling is poorly executed. They even tried to make me pay for the scam appointment… in full out of pocket. I recommend taking your buisness elsewhere.
However, I will say that Amanda at the desk did file a paper claim for me and Met Life did receive it. She was helpful. I wanted to leave on a positive note.

BEWARE!!! this office will try to charge you different then what they tell you. I use to go there and no more I am done. The girl at the front desk Patricia lies to you, she told us that it will be 100 for a specialty consultation and after it was done she tried charging 150. The next consultation with a different specialist was Suppose to be free and the appointment was so hard to get because the doctor comes every two weeks. I had to take a day off my work to make this work and when I went there the day of the appointment she same girl tells me that the suppose to be free consultation was again $ 150. When I told her it’s not right to tell people one thing and after all this time which was almost a month to tell them they had to pay her exact words were «you should be happy I am telling you prior to the appointment instead of just charging you after». This is unacceptable and rude. I not only was lie to twice but I also had to take the day off losing more money. Terrible place. Bad service. NO STARS FROM ME

Due to new employment and insurance change, Advanced Dentistry was in my dental network. I went there about 6 times within the 3 years with the new job. The business was sold multiple times and I saw a different dentist each time. The last time I went there was 1 year ago. I will tell you right now that I have NEVER had a cavity in my life. The dentist I saw last year (mind you, a freshly bought business, by a recent dental school graduate) tried to tell me that I had 5 cavities.
Needless to say, this sounded a bit suspect. I sucked it up and payed the out-​of-​network fee to see my old dentist. Low and behold, I still had NO cavities. I will happily pay the out-​of-​network fee to avoid needless drilling in my mouth.

This dentist office is the most disorganized i have ever been to, And i have been charged for services i was told I would not have to pay for. They are hard to get a hold of — voice mail box full, office closed at unexpected times.

Let me just first say to call them rip off artists is just wrong and for me to believe that they tried to charge you and your family 10k for dental work your family didn’t need is CRAZY!!! It just sounds vindictive and untrue to me.
Here’s why.
I had dental insurance and they (Ins co) ended up not covering all of a procedure I had done. Dr Goli gave me an incredible discount on the balance!!! For that alone she would have a patient for life. Believe me she didn’t have to do it and I was willing to pay much more. Also, I had a tooth that I needed pulled and could take anytime off from work. Dr. Goli stayed till 6:45 on a Friday to help me (she didn’t have to) and no, she didn’t charge extra and what I payed was more than reasonable!!!
I brought my Mom who is handicapped and in a wheelchair and the whole staff couldn’t have been anymore helpful than they were. And when my mother got the bill she was more than happy and she’s old school and complains about everything!!! LOL
My wife and kids go here as well and were more than happy with the service and staff. So in total my family and I have about 12 or 14 visits here and never have we been unhappy!!! I’ve also had work done Dr. Kumar who was also great!
I don’t mean to sound like a commercial but I just wanted to set the record straight. They are a decent, fair and quite competent practice and I would happily recommend them to anyone!

I’ve been to this dental office four times so far. Everyone was warm and welcoming. I didn’t have to wait long for my appointments.
There were specialized staff for different stages of the appointments. This was new for me, but everyone was very professional. They explained each proceedure before they did it and were remarkably gentle with very little discomfort.
I feel very confident in recommending this fine dental office to friends, family and strangers alike.
