Goody Goody Gum Drop

Yeah, sure, it’s overpriced — it’s in downtown Dells — of course it is. The girl behind the candy counter was incredibly sweet — on the other hand, the women in the gift/​toy shop leave a LOT to be desired. Not a single hello until we came back a second time and I said hello first. There were actually quite a few things I wanted to purchase but didn’t due to their terribly unwelcoming behavior. I’ll bring my business elsewhere. I can only imagine how many sales this place missed out on.

While this place is cute with an adorable name, it’s just in my opinion, wildly overpriced. I have a hard time justifying paying what they were asking for things I can get at the box stores. I know it’s a cute novelty candy shop, but I guess I am just that cheap.
They did have some good looking specialty items behind the counter in the cases and one kid was eating a really good looking caramel apple, but I didn’t feel like waiting in the long lines and trying to maneuver in an out of the cramped and tight space.
It is a cute place, just wasn’t my cup of tea.
My nieces and nephews however loaded up on all kinds of sweets. The gummy peach rings were good.

How on earth these places stay in business is beyond me. I walked in and bought 6 pieces of chocolate candy that fit in a tiny bag… walk up to pay… pull out 15 bucks… the girl says, «$ 27.86 please»…I about fell over.
Never. Again.

It was fine until the worker behind the counter started taste testing all of the sorbet with the same spoon she’d put in her mouth. She did this about 8 times… couldn’t believe it!

This is one of the three locations of Goody, Goody Gum Drop. One is in downtown Wisconsin Dells, one is right next to the zoo, and the last is located inside of one of the hotels at the Wilderness Resort area. All of them are relatively easy to get to if you’re in the area where they’re at. This one seems to be the easiest since it has its own parking lot and is visible from the street.
Pros:
–Tons of candy to choose from. I mean, tons. Rock candy, lots of jellybean flavors, typical candy flavors, toffees, cordials, chocolate-​covered Oreos, truffles, bark, fudge, and TONS more. Insane amounts of candy.
–An adorable store presentation. Everything is really organized, and it’s really easy to find.
–They have non-​candy, impulse items to purchase as well. Nothing you’d come to the store to specifically buy, but it might be stuff you’d add on.
Cons:
–Prices are kinda expensive. Candy apples run at $ 9 each. Most candies are $ 12 a pound — including Hershey’s Kisses. You have to watch how much you buy here because it adds up quickly.
–Employees, while friendly, didn’t seem particularly knowledgeable about what they sold. A couple questions I had about what things were were met with «I don’t really know, but I think…» I particularly remember asking what was in a Black Forest truffle.

this is a super fun place for kids. my seven year old went around exclaiming «they have EVERY KIND oif candy here!!!» and then he’d try to think of a candy they didn’t have and go in search for it. we didn’t find one that wasn’t there. it’s got all the newfangled sour candies, but plenty for nostalgic old-​timers like me as well — salt water taffy, rock candy, necco wafers, and a good selection of handmade chocolates. it was busy when we were there, but the staff were cheerful and worked as fast as they could.

Go somewhere else! Don’t waste your money or fillings on this overpriced under whelming stale sweets. I consider myself a pretty reasonable person and don’t write a lot of reviews unless my experience is really bad. With that said, this place is EXTREMELY overpriced with stale sweets!!! The taffy was hard as rocks, the chocolate was grey/​white, the gummy bears were tuff to chew and the fudge was flavorless… Nothing was redeemable about this place. There was no greeting from our initial entrance, no can we help you, and no thank you come again. For a lager candy store in the Dells, I’m surprised they’ve lasted as long as they have… Never again will I purchase anything from this establishment. Rude and unsavory doesn’t fulfill the complete disappointment I felt… Words of advice for Goody Goody Gum Drop, a little smile from time to time and remove stale candy from your bins and you might get better reviews… Just saying!!!

Rude employees. Mediocre candy. Go somewhere else — there are other places within a block that may have some manners and customer appreciation.

Overall was a nice candy store. We arrived about ten minutes before closing. While the four girls working there were starting to clean up we never felt rushed and they were more than helpful.
While I agree with the other reviewers that the prices are outrageous, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a candy store whose prices I didn’t feel we’re outrageous, let alone one in a tourist town.
All in all a good candy store doing just what a candy store should do.

I went to the smaller version downtown: The Gelato was gross. And I became disgusted once I watched the Russian girls stick their fingers onto the ice cream with a spoon or gloves. The candy is way overpriced and the rock candy needs more flavor. I was severely unempressed and not to mention almost lost my lunch over their unsanitary practices.
Then I decided to try their home store which is down the street from Mt. Olympus and it was no different. The girls that work at the one downtown work at the home store. When I asked who or where the manager is they couldn’t tell me. The girls that work there don’t even know who runs the company they work for. I’m not going there again.

Enjoyed visiting this shop various times. My family stayed at Mt. Olympus resort and the candy shop was walking distance. The train running on the ceiling made the experience memorable. Prices, as every one has mentioned, are typical tourist prices. It kept me weighing my candy bag to make sure I didn’t go over. Tip for the shop — lower prices to not make customers runaway. Overall, a must see while at the Dells. Even just to look around.

Cute little place to stop in the Dells. We took the kiddos for some I’ve cream and loved looking at all of the candy and the cute train that runs on a track near the ceiling.
The gelato was home made and a little too sweet for my taste but still good. Unfortunately, there was only one young lady working on a Saturday which netted a 30 minute wait to get our ice cream. The kids enjoyed it and the prices were reasonable.

Expensive. Man $ 6 for one pecan or cashew turtle (granted they’re bigger than the ones at Fannie Mae) is kind of crazy. I spent $ 25 on a turtle 6 pieces of the buttercreams and caramel marshmallows 4 pretzel rods and a raisin chocolate cluster. Just seemed overpriced to me. It’s tasty for sure especially enjoyed the caramel marshmallow candies and chocolate raisin cluster. Cute shop very big. Typical tourist prices though. If a little cheaper I’d of given 4 stars.

This store has quite a selection, but they’re prices are sky high!
$ 12 lb for twizzlers, gummy bears, etc and $ 25 lb for chocolate.
The per pound price for the chocolate isn’t posted, so I was very
disappointed when I found out it’s $ 25 per pound. Yikes!

Although I’ve grown into a responsible adult, I’m still a candy junkie at heart. I absolutely love this place!!! Every time we are in the dells, we stop here so I can drop waaaay too much money on overpriced candy by the pound — and let my kids go nuts and get their own pound, hence becoming the worlds best mom in their eyes and Michelle Obama’s worst nightmare.
What I love about this place is that I can pick my own gummi bears by COLOR/​FLAVOR!!! Love that. Green, white and red, please! AND some Taffy :)
I’ve never got their chocolates before, but I was looking at their truffles and they are beautiful… like little edible works of art.

This is a cute little candy shop. They have EVERYTHING. My daughter especially liked filling up her little bag with all sorts of «gummy» items. Tons of butterflies, airplanes, worms, ladybugs, etc. It was really fun for her to pick and choose what animals she wanted to nom on later!
I also bought a candy apple there (I have yet to try it, but I will let you know!)
A bit overpriced, however. Similar in price to everything else in downtown Dells, however.
I wish I had been in the mood to try something from their little snack area – it looked delicious.
And this place is connected to a little gift store where I found some fabulous trinkets for my friends.
I will definitely be back!

Are you serious? This is definitely Willy Wonka’s factory 2011! I think I passed out at the variety alone! Although most of the candy is $ 11.99 a pound, you can always get less. Want chocolate cherry coveted malt balls? Well there here! Want taffy and licorice in so many flavors, uhhh hmmm, they have that too! Just a great place to check out if your in the Dells. Across the street from the Alien crash site and the upside down «TOP SECRET» white house.
If you just want to browse, your just wasting time because in the end, you know your not leaving empty handed. Also their ice cream on sugar or waffle cones are really worth it under $ 5.

There are several candy stores along this strip of Wisconsin Dells. What got me into the door of Goody Goody Gum Drop was that they offered 27 different flavors of soft serve ice cream. Twenty-​seven!
Besides the soft serve there was the promise of salt-​water taffy, and perhaps some chocolate, figured we’d need some sweets for the rest of our trip up North.
The taffy was very good. I thought it was a little pricey – I want to say $ 13/​pound, but I liked that I could choose the flavors and number of pieces I wanted – that helped with the price, as well as not getting stuck with some unwanted flavors. Like Grape – bubble gum ok, salt water taffy? that’s too weird. The flavors I did choose were good – not overly sweet either.
The ice cream (strawberry) was just OK. I was hoping for very creamy soft serve but it was more icy than creamy. The servings are huge though. I asked her for a kiddie size and it was still huge. Good strawberry flavor.
Great variety of candy available aside from taffy. Chocolate, fudge, truffles, lollies, rock candy and more. Nice layout, pretty store, Friendly service.

Prices are quite high as someone has mentioned before but the selection is huge. Loose candy is 12.99/pound. You can find like 50 kinds of gummy products and a whole ton of chocolate covered items and all the novelty items (candy cigarettes etc) you can shake a stick at. The fudge here is one of the better ones.
